All fi xed head vitreoretinal forceps and scissors are supplied with a protective guard which can be sterilised.

Tips of the the Osher Haptic Cutter have a notch that fi ts over and grasps the haptic (fi g1). When the handle of the Osher Haptic Cutter is squeezed (fi g2 - 3) the outside tube of the tip moves forwards and severs the haptic.

All VR Heads come fi tted with a plastic (PEEK) re-usable Protective Cover, that can withstand cleaning and reprocessing cycles. Designed to crack nucleus into four segments with minimal stretching of incision. Forceps shafts open to a maximum of 1.7mm at incision point. Tips open to 2.5mm. Tip of instrument has a sharp point that initally penetrates nucleus; squeeze forceps, tips open to crack and split nucleus. By fl ipping forceps over, blunt edge may be used to go deeper in initial split to fully split nucleus. Using blunt edge of tip reduces risk of damaging posterior capsule.
