SimCorp solution experts will explain and demonstrate how the solutions have been developed to help you meet specific challenges competitively – now and in the future. At IUCM in Copenhagen, we will host 10 sessions on key current challenges in the investment management industry addressed by SimCorp solutions. 2 pm – 5 pm 1. How to Use Risk and Performance as Integrated Parts of Your Investment Decision Process
Are you actively using risk and performance analysis to assess and improve your investment decisions? SimCorp offers significantly enhanced capabilities for risk and performance analysis in SimCorp Dimension. The new capabilities empower decision makers, controllers, and analysts to gain faster and deeper insight, and thereby better meet the continuous need for improving your investment decision processes and stakeholder communication.

• learn how to maximize your use of risk and performance analysis, for instance by applying stress testing and risk and return attribution and contribution
• explore how portfolio managers can be self-serviced when it comes to using middle-office vetted results and ad-hoc calculated risk and performance data

2 pm – 5 pm 2. Optimizing Your Inventory: Collateral Management and Securities Finance
Previous years’ improvements to SimCorp’s collateral solution have focused on streamlining and automating the margin call workflows by utilizing industry platforms such as MarginSphere from AcadiaSoft. While continuing this work, we will also look at client demands concerning support for management of collateral, for instance moving inventory control much closer to decision makers such as asset- and portfolio managers.
Join this session for the latest update on our collateral administration solution and to discuss front office requirements to a collateral management solution.
The topics discussed will include:
• Margin simulation as a tool for optimizing counterparty selection
• Reducing initial margin requirements through cross-portfolio margin management
• Using an inventory overview based on collateral values, i.e. after haircut for improved support of eligible positions • Involving front office users when defining the position to be used by collateral administration to satisfy margin calls • Using Collateral Transformation as a tool to cover margin requirements

We will also discuss how a centralized collateral and securities financing business line could promote the ability to generate additional income by entering the securities lending market. This participation could be active by setting up a proprietary program or it could happen through participation in one or more programs managed by Agents. This session will also include a presentation of planned development activities for a better support of either of the two routes to market.

The analytic landscape is rapidly changing but the cornerstones of good data warehouse practices prevail. Join this focus group to learn about industry best practices, what differentiates reporting and business intelligence (BI), and how to build a data warehouse that supports both.
This focus group will also include a discussion on how your IBOR (investment book of record) can be used to facilitate operational analyses of advanced financial measures, and why those do not fit well into a traditional BI environment.

2 pm – 5 pm 4. Managing Loans in SimCorp Dimension: Existing and upcoming functionality
Investors’ appetite for extending loans seem to have increased just as rapidly as interest rates have been dropping in recent years. However, loans come in many shapes and forms, from simple fixed rate bullet loans to complex multi-currency revolving credit facilities.
SimCorp Dimension offers various support options depending on the type of loan, and this focus group offers an opportunity to get an overview of existing as well as coming functionality in this area. You will also be able to provide feedback and input on the functionality and plans.
Join this focus group to:
• get an overview of existing SimCorp Dimension modules that could be relevant for managing some loan positions and learn about the objective of using each of these modules
• learn how loan invoices can be generated and managed from SimCorp Dimension
• hear how pledged collateral like properties for specific loans can be managed with the new Data Modelling Framework
• explore the upcoming Syndicated Loans module, which allows you to manage facilities and contracts, delayed settlement, etc.
We will also provide an overview of the overall roadmap for different types of alternative investments in SimCorp Dimension, and explain how this ties in with the developments in loans.

2 pm – 5 pm 5. Reconciliation Manager: The Case for Reconciliation
In this focus group, we will firstly consider the drivers and the economic business case for investing in
reconciliation solutions. Can such investment really contribute towards increases in profits? Through an interactive session, we will look into the key reconciliation workflows and try to quantify these in order to build our business case with confidence.
Furthermore, we will demonstrate the new Reconciliation Manager application, highlighting the differentiating features of this SimCorp solution.
The session will be highly relevant to Reconciliation Managers, Operations/Settlements Staff, Investment Officers, System Architects, and Business Analysts.

2 pm – 5 pm 6. Supporting IFRS 9 and coming changes to US-GAAP in SimCorp Dimension
Finally, the IASB completed IFRS 9 by issuing the impairment chapters in July 2014 and, suddenly, January 1, 2018 does not seem so far away. What’s more, the changes will be dramatic!
SimCorp is not only developing support for IFRS 9 in SimCorp Dimension, we are also focusing on the new workflows entailed and the possibilities for automating the complex tasks, thus improving your profitability and reducing your operational risk.
In this focus group, we will focus on:
• The IFRS 9 holding categories and the process of implementing these in SimCorp Dimension • The new functionality for Hedge Accounting and Impairments
• The new impairment calculations and their impact, the need for estimated cash flows, and the need for tax lots, FIFO, or the like
• What actions do you need to take in 2015 and 2016 to be ready to run in parallel in 2017 and go live in 2018? • SimCorp Dimension initiatives to enable automated compliance with IFRS 9
• Similar initiatives by the FASB in the US: What are the differences and what enhancements are essential in SimCorp Dimension to be able to support US-GAAP in the future?

2 pm – 5 pm 9. MiFID II/MiFIR: A discussion of the impact on SimCorp Dimension
MiFID II (Markets in Financial Instruments Directive)/MiFIR (Markets in Financial Instruments Regulation) is definitely one of the most challenging regulatory initiatives for financial industry members who are active in the European Union.
After Europe’s watchdog ESMA (European Securities and Markets Authority) has closed its consultation this spring, the market expects to see the more detailed Level 2 requirements published over the summer. Join this focus group to discuss these requirements with your peers, SimCorp experts, and other market participants (e.g. trade repository providers).
The goal of this session is to gain insight into individual client requirements, identify similarities, and discuss mutual needs.

The future of SimCorp Dimension includes the web and mobile devices. Already, Release 5.7 included the beta release option to access most of your dashboards via a web browser on a tablet or a PC.
In this focus group, we will demo what we have released so far and present our plans for taking further parts of SimCorp Dimension into web browsers and onto mobile devices. We will also give insight into how these platforms can make users more effective.
