Recommended Books: Year 6
The following books are recommended for children aged 10-11, although are often enjoyed by older children too! They include a substantial collection of stories from a range of genres, and stories with morals and messages to help children deal with new experiences and emotions. They will also link to some of the topics and subject knowledge they may cover in class. Some of these stories will be read and focused on in school, and most are available in the Learning Centre.
While the list here primarily focuses on fiction, it is important that your child is exposed to and reads a range of texts. Encourage your child to read non-fiction to find information, to read and perform poems aloud, and to read print in the environment to make sense of the world around them.
