2014‐15 Athletic Training Internship 

  The Mississippi RiverKings seek a part‐time, unpaid Athletic Training Intern for the 2014‐15 season.   Internships are available for the fall, spring and summer terms. The RiverKings, the longest‐running  sports franchise in the Mid‐South, celebrate their 23rd season of play in October.    Position Title:   Athletic Training Intern    Qualifications:  An ideal candidate will/have:  ‐ Possess excellent written and oral communication skills  ‐ General knowledge of sports injuries and anatomy  ‐ Ability to work as a team player with the athlete, Head Athletic Trainer and the RiverKings  Medical Staff  ‐ A hard work ethic and motivation to learn new skills    Responsibilities will include:     Responsible for immediate care of injuries   Pre/Post‐game treatments   Injury evaluation, assessment and therapy protocol   Accurate documentation regarding injury reports, treatment logs and rehabilitation programs   Ordering medical supplies   Coordinate doctor appointments and diagnostic testing   Responsible for game night/practice preparation and clean‐up   Representing the Mississippi RiverKings Hockey Club in a professional manner at all times.    Compensation and Academic Credit

2014-15 Community Development Internship

The Mississippi RiverKings seek a part-time, unpaid Community Development Intern for the 2014-15 season. Internships are available for the fall, spring and summer terms. The RiverKings, the longest-running sports franchise in the Mid-South, celebrate their 23rd season of play in October.

Position Title:

Community Development Intern

Qualifications:

An ideal candidate will (be):

- Very well-organized and detail-oriented - Event planning-oriented

- Have fundraising experience, or willingness to learn - Work well with children

- Possess good public speaking skills

- Possess photography and videography skills

Responsibilities will include:

Helping plan, organize and promote one of the department’s feature events, the “Face-Off Field Trip”

o Contacting schools

o Recording reservations

o Tracking payments

o Seating schools

Plan, attend and document (take photos, video) player and mascot appearances in the community

Work with our non-profit groups to promote them, their causes and how our fans can get involved with them

Develop fun materials (newsletters, puzzles, etc.) and game-night projects for the fred’s Kids’ Club

Help plan, organize and promote our “Teen Star” Community Service Award Work as a liaison with the RiverKings’ Fan Club

o Assist in getting new fans involved with the club

o Assist the club in organizing events; attend and document their events Review, process and fill donation requests

Pitch and create new community involvement programs and ideas for the team Post to and manage community development content on team’s website Work with Puck Toss and Post-Game skate organizations on game nights

2014-15 Game Operations Internship Description

The Mississippi RiverKings seek a part-time, unpaid Game Operations intern for the 2014-15 season. Internships are available for the fall, spring and summer terms. The RiverKings, the longest-running sports franchise in the Mid-South, celebrate their 23rd season of play in October.

Position Title:

Game Operations Intern

Qualifications:

An ideal candidate will/have:

- Ability to think quickly and make immediate changes in high pressure situations - Possess excellent written and oral communications skills

- Possess knowledge or ability to learn Final Cut Pro and/or iMovie video editing software - Working knowledge of Photoshop or InDesign

- Ability to work under tight deadlines

- Self-starter with ability to create new in-game content

Responsibilities will include:

Assisting in the creation of the 2013-14 intro video

Communicating with the Landers Center on issues relating to graphics and video production Creating a diverse music library for game nights

Coordinating and directing the game night production Writing game scripts and promotional reads

Other assignments as needed to be assigned by supervisor Ability to attend all 28 RiverKings home games.

2014-15 Media Relations Internship

The Mississippi RiverKings seek a part-time, unpaid Media Relations Intern for the 2014-15 season. Internships are available for the fall, spring and summer terms. The RiverKings, the longest-running sports franchise in the Mid-South, celebrate their 23rd season of play in October.

Media Relations Intern

Qualifications:

An ideal candidate will:

- Possess excellent written and oral communications skills

- Have the ability to effectively communicate to various audiences - Work well under tight deadlines

- Be a self-starter with ability to create new content and story ideas.

Responsibilities will include:

Writing nightly Game Notes

Writing feature stories for publication on riverkings.com and new monthly game night magazine Contributing articles for new riverkings.com blog

Pitching story ideas for riverkings.com, riverkings.com blog, game night magazine and local media

Interviewing players and coaches for intermission interviews Designing magazine and newspaper ads

Participating in weekend community development appearances Assisting in the development of “Not Just Hockey” marketing plan

Assisting in concept development and writing of radio, newspaper and television ads Assisting with the running of all RiverKings social media platforms and website Other assignments as needed to be assigned by supervisor.

2014-15 Ticket Operations/Customer Service Internship

The Mississippi RiverKings seek a part-time, unpaid Ticket Operations intern for the 2014-15 season. Internships are available for the fall, spring and summer terms. The RiverKings, the longest-running sports franchise in the Mid-South, celebrate their 23rd season of play in October.

Position Title:

Ticket Operations Intern

Qualifications:

An ideal candidate will/have:

- Possess excellent written and oral communication skills

- A positive attitude and willingness to work nights, weekends and some holidays - Ability to work under tight deadlines

- Prior experience with ticketing software preferred, but not required

Responsibilities will include:

Assisting in game night ticket operations Supervision of the main box office windows Organizing and maintaining will call

Processing complementary tickets for players and staff Assisting in ticket reconciliation and nightly reports Assisting sales staff at Fan Services table

Assisting in game operations set-up and take-down Making out-going phone calls
