Monday Evening Devotions

Join us for Evening Prayer at 6:30 PM every Monday evening in Church

Then from 7-8:00 PM we have a Holy Hour with Praise, Music, Adoration and Benediction.

Come tell the Lord all your worries ask for his help with them.

You may also want to say prayers for your loved ones and friends and don’t forget to also thank Him for the good things in your life.

The Sacrament of Baptism

Someone asked a priest, “Father, help me! I used to be very bad. Now, I am a convert for several years, but I often remember the past sins that I committed. I cannot help myself. Help me, father.” “At your baptism,” a priest said, “all your sins are forgiven. However, it doesn’t mean that you will never sin anymore. Listen to what it said about Baptism in the Catechism of the Catholic Church.” The priest fetched some pages and said, “Holy Baptism,” Catechism of the Catholic Church (CCC) teaches, “is the basis of the whole Christian life, the gateway to life in the Spirit, and the door which gives access to the other sacraments” (CCC 1213). It is not just the basis of a period of Christian life for one day, one month, or one year after baptism, but it is a whole Christian life. It is the gateway to life in the Spirit that requires every day of conversion since the Spirit is all pure.

His conversion of every day after the baptism in his whole Christian life does not stop after receiving the Sacrament of Holy Baptism, but it is the beginning of a whole Christian life.

Recalling at our baptism, we are all given a candle lit from the Easter Candle and a small white shirt. This light from the Easter Candle symbolizes the light of Christ shining on our Christian life, and the small white shirt symbolizes that we are put on Christ on our Christian journey. This light might be dim or put out, and the small white shirt might get dirty at a time(s) because of all kinds of temptation(s). This, therefore, Christian life after the baptism is a series of conversions, a series of keeping that little light kept burning and keeping that white shirt cleaning. One perfect way to shape our conversion to return to the Lord and to restore our relationship with him and with one another is what Jesus teaches us in today’s readings, “Love one another as I have loved you.”

Jesus’ love reveals on the Cross. How do you and I reveal our love for others? Jesus reveals his love by praying for those who hurt him and mistreat him. How do you and I reveal our love for those who hurt us or mistreat us? Jesus reveals his love by forgiving those who hurt him and mistreat him. How do you and I reveal our love for others if it’s not to learn to forgive what others hurt us or mistreat us? Jesus reveals his love by reaching out to others, even to the ones who hurt him and mistreat him.

How do you and I reveal our love for others if it’s not to reach out to others even to the ones who hurt us or mistreat us?

Forgiveness will bring healing for the wrongdoing, but love will wipe away what hurts and pains from the wrongdoing. The decision is yours.

From Father Joseph

Religious Education

937- 6908 Let the children come unto me, and do not hinder them; for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. Mark 10:14,16

From Religious Education

Brothers and Sisters, Peace be with you all. Holy Communion, we as Catholics must understand and believe that when the bread and wine are consecrated by the Priest, called the Epiclesis; the Holy Spirit is called down upon the Priest and the bread and wine on the Altar, the Priest at this moment is acting in persona Christi (In the person of Christ), this is the point during the Mass when Father places his hands over the bread and wine along with reciting the words of the Eucharistic Prayer, the bread and wine are transformed into the Body and Blood of Christ. This is called transubstantiation, meaning a change of substance; the appearance, taste and smell even are the same as the original substance but through the mystery of our faith are the True Presence of our Lord.

Come back next week for the Sacrament of Confirmation.

Blessings to all,

Deacon Gary

Confirmation 1: We will meet Sunday February 20, 2022 at 4:30 pm to 5:45 pm in the St. Michael Building. Our Teens will begin on Chapter 4 of Decision Point to review “The Prayer Process” We will teach our Teens how to pray and encourage them to develop a daily routine of prayer. Also, to demonstrate that the way prayer helps is by helping us discover God’s will for our lives, and that we cannot ever truly be happy outside of God’s will.

Confirmation 2: Confirmation 1 will meet Sunday February 20, 2022 at 7 pm to 8:30 pm in the St. Michael Building. Our Teens will begin on Chapter 10 of Decision Point to review

“Confirmation”.

We want show our Candidates how personally called and chosen by God, but they are responsible for how they respond to that call. Also, to help our Candidates recognize that Confirmation is not the end of something, but the beginning of an incredible new phase in their faith journey.

Respect Life Minstry

With 38 weeks in the books, month 9 of pregnancy is about halfway done. Your baby's lungs are stronger and she's getting ready to announce her entrance into the world.

I see you!

Your baby’s eyes right now are blue, gray or brown, but once they’re exposed to light, they may change color or shade. By the time your baby turns 1, you’ll know their true color.

Shedding hair

The lanugo, the fine downy hair that covered your little one's body for warmth, is falling off in preparation for delivery.

Ready to cry

Your baby’s lungs have strengthened and the vocal cords have developed, which means she’s ready to communicate through wails and cries.

How big is my baby at 38 weeks?

Your little one isn't quite so little anymore, weighing about 7 pounds and measuring 20 inches in length, give or take an inch or two. Only two more weeks — four max — before your baby makes her appearance!

The final countdown

Two weeks and counting — unless, of course, your little bean decides to make a late entrance. Just as your baby is preparing for life outside the womb, at 38 weeks pregnant, your body is tending to its own final touches before the big day.

Treasures from our Tradition This week’s calendar appears at first to have a feast day for a piece of furniture:

the Chair of Peter. In fact, it functions as a kind of ecclesial “Presidents’ Day.”

The church day points to Peter, but just as Presidents’ Day began with Washington’s birthday and now includes all presidents, this day celebrates the Petrine ministry: Peter’s apostolic presidency passed down in our tradition as an essential aspect of Catholic identity. Maybe the day should be subtitled “Popes’ Day.” As for the

“chair” itself, it can be traced to the house of Priscilla and Aquila in ancient Rome. Peter sat there to instruct the faithful and to receive the newly baptized. When Christianity became legal, the house was transformed into a place for public prayer, and soon the chair was transported to the tomb of St.

Peter on the Vatican hill. Over the centuries, the hill was leveled, but the tomb and the chair were preserved.

Today, it is said that the chair from that ancient Roman community is raised high above the altar in St. Peter’s, clearly visible just beneath the oval window showing the descent of the

Seventh Sunday in Ordinary Time Holy Spirit. The symbol of the chair reminds the current occupant of the Petrine office of his duties to shepherd the flock by clear teaching and by building up the unity of the Church. Last year, on this very day, Pope Benedict XVI named fifteen new cardinals as an expression of thispastoral care for the unity of the Church, drawing them from a variety of cultures everywhere around the globe.
