Parents: In the event Douglas County School System has to implement Digital Learning Days, the following activities should be completed at home and can be found on the DSE school website. For elementary students, combined assignments should
not take longer than 1-2 hours each day to complete.Teachers are available by email from 9:00- 2:00 to answer any questions you have concerning your work. All activities will be due no later than 3 days after returning to school.

Day 1 Choose a fiction book of your choice and write a summary about the events of the story. Be sure your sentences have SWAG! They should start with a capital letter, be written neatly, have correct spacing between words, and given punctuation. Day 2 Use the T Chart with 2 columns and label one column with
Common Nouns and one column with Proper Nouns. Determine if the following words are Common or Proper Nouns and sort them into the correct column.

Day 3 Write 5 sentences that include at least one Proper Noun. Remember that Proper Nouns are specific names of people, places, and things. Examples: Monday, Burger King, and Tammy.
Day 4 If I could have 1 super power of my choice, it would be… Write about your chosen super power. Be sure to write at least 6 sentences, telling what it is, why you would want that super power, how it would help you, and ways you could help others.
Day 5 If you could visit any planet, what would it be? Write why you chose the planet, what you might see when you arrive, how long you will stay, how will you get there, and other details to support your choice.
Day 6 Free write: You may write about anything you choose. It must be at least 5 sentences with SWAG!
Day 7 Write 10 sentences with 2 adjectives in each sentence.
Remember that sentences should have SWAG! Adjectives are words that describe nouns. Examples: tall, little, brown, delicious, fast.
Day 8 Free write: You may write about anything you choose. It must be at least 5 sentences with SWAG!
Day 9 Write a narrative about a time when you were super proud of yourself. Your narrative should have a title. Remember that a narrative tells a story and should include a hook, details, and a conclusion. You should also use words like first, next, then, last, finally.
Day 10 Continue working on your narrative story
Day 11 Complete your narrative writing from yesterday.
Day 12 Free write. You may write about anything you choose. It must be at least 5 sentences with SWAG!
Day 13 Write a constructed response comparing and contrasting Valentines Day and New Years Eve. Remember when you compare 2 things, you write about how they are alike. When you contrast 2 things, you write about how they are different. You should write at least 2 ways they are the same, and 2 ways they are different.
Day 14 Continue writing your constructed response from yesterday. Day 15 Complete your constructed response writing.

Day 5 Using the newspaper provided, locate words with ar, ur, er, ir, ing, ,oi, oy, ou. ow. Cut the words out and glue them to the piece of paper provided. Be sure to glue them in the right location. Practice reading the words.

Day 7 Using the picture included in the folder, color the short vowel words as instructed on the paper.

Day 12 Read the Decodable reader in the folder and circle words that rhyme.
