Our History
Ecospill grew out of an established company which originally specialised
in water filtration systems, pressure
cleaners and pumps. Over time, as
governing bodies began to further realise the impact of business and industry on the environment, companies were expected to become more environmentally responsible. Suddenly
regulatory demands increased, fines
became serious, expectations became regulations. We realised there was a need to help business meet their environmental obligations. Responding to growing customer demand we introduced Spill Response Training services and our range of Spill Response Equipment in 2003. Much has changed over the years, and we remain committed to producing quality products at the cutting edge of technology. The introduction of DuraBund
in 2005 provided a new revolution in floor
bunding products. Escalating oil prices have seen oil-based sorbents (the industry standard) and polypropylene resin costs double over the last three years. It was time for a new way of thinking and so in 2008 Ecospill proudly launched a new range of renewable, Organic Sorbents & Spill Kits.

assistance whenever you need it. Our Distributor Sales Manager provides integral support and continued training to our network of distributors Australia-wide. You can be assured of the same professionalism and experience when dealing with our distributors. We also have a Corporate Account Manager who specialises in assisting Corporations with

Each representative of Ecospill is personally trained to assist business to meet their environmental obligations to EPA standards. Our Spill Response Training courses ensure employees of our customers are well prepared.

EcoSweep Bioactive Absorbent
is manufactured from a selection of Australian grown organic cellulose
products. It will absorb a variety of liquids, including petroleum, oils, fuels, solvents, cooking oils, protein
fluids and other messy liquids. Its hollow fine granules encapsulate absorbed liquids into capsules that
cannot separate or drip. EcoSweep is inoculated with bioactive microbes, that literally ‘eat and digest’
oils and fuels - gradually converting into a soil conditioner over a period of time. Many regions therefore
allow EcoSweep to be disposed of to landfill, but this should be checked according to your region’s
local regulations. EcoSweep passes USEPA Paint Filter Liquids Test Method 9095A.
Bitumen Plus combines the benefits of EcoSweep bioactive absorbent with Zeolite, giving it a gritty
feel, ensuring road surfaces are left clean, dry and safe to use.
Chemsorb is a fine absorbent particulate suitable for use on chemical spills. Light in weight, it offers

Do I Really Need a Spill Kit?
Nearly every industrial workshop will inevitably encounter leaks and spills of some kind. It doesn’t matter
whether your business is large or small; if you use or store fuels, oils, chemicals, hydraulic fluids, batteries,
solvents and other similar liquids you will require a Spill Kit to help prevent spills polluting waterways and
land that leads to waterways. The EPA uniformly “imposes a general environmental duty on
all persons
undertaking an activity that may pollute, requiring them to take all reasonable & practical measures to
prevent or minimise any resulting environmental harm.” (Environment Protection Act 1993, section 25)
How to Choose the Right Spill Kit
While the prospect of choosing a Spill Kit might seem a daunting one, this is usually because of the
myriad of choices. However, choosing the right Spill Kit essentially comes down to three (3) key factors
to consider: the type of liquid to absorb; largest ‘likely’ spill; and portability. Ask yourself:
1. What type of liquid(s) do I need to absorb?
Knowing the type of liquids used in your facility will help you to correctly select the right kit. Each Kit has
Absorbent Powder, Mats & Socks that are specific to the type of liquid you need to absorb. Essentially,
there are three types of liquids you may need to absorb:
2. What’s the largest capacity I need to absorb?
A good way is to determine the largest ‘likely’ spill from your largest liquid container or holding tank. Eg: if
most of your liquids are stored in drums, then the largest likely spill would be 205L or the size of the drum.
3. How portable/transportable do I need the Spill Kit to be?
In the workshop or factory, it is ideal to have a spill kit within close proximity of spill prone areas. Our
wheelie bin spill kits are a good option as they can be easily manoeuvred around the workshop floor. If
you need a spill kit in a confined space, like the cab of a crane or truck, a transport spill kit in a handy carry
bag is the best choice. If you need a larger spill kit that can still be carried to the site of the spill, then our
‘weatherproof’ carry bag spill kits are ideal. Whatever your need, we have spill kits to suit most applications.

To ensure your Spill Kit is maintained to its maximum spill response
capacity, Ecospill offers an onsite Spill Kit Servicing program,
complimentary with the purchase of a large spill kit.
For SE QLD customers our professional consultants will call onsite
to service, check and restock each spill kit. For regional customers
we offer a scheduled email/fax service, to ensure your spill kit is
maintained and serviced on time. The recommended time frame for
each service is quarterly; however this can be varied according to your
requirements. We do not charge a call out fee for servicing conducted
as part of your regular service cycle. Each service call is recorded
(dated & signed) on the service label inside the Kit.
Of course, you can call Ecospill (free call) at any time to have a Kit
serviced, following an incident. You can also order re-stocking items &

Ergonomically designed, the back kick plate is positioned to assure weight is not absorbed by the spinal
column. If a spill occurs, even if the drum splits a seam, its hazardous chemical contents are contained in
the oversized sump.
For the ultimate in drum management, Drum Management System modules combine drum storage, spill
control and safe liquid dispensing. The design accommodates either 60L or 205L drums of dangerous
goods liquids. UV protected polyethylene construction provides maximum chemical compatibility &

Australian designed and built, these Enhanced Gravity Separators offer efficient removal of ‘free’ oil,
grease, suspended solids and dust etc. Featuring chemically resistant polyethylene and polypropylene
components, these Water Oil Separators include a modular plate pack and are specifically designed to
prevent blocking. These units come as a complete package system, including pumps, level controls,
sumps, grates and strainer baskets. Separate components are available on request.
These easily relocatable units are made up of standard self containable modules 2.0m wide x 2.5m long
which can be linked to form any desired wash bay size.
Easily maintainable, these structures can take loads of 500kg - 80 tonnes. Fully EPA compliant.

Basic Spill Kit Induction
For SE QLD customers, this induction is offered complimentary when you
purchase your spill kit. For Australia-wide customers, our “Guide to Effective
Spill Response” informative handout is included with your kit purchase. The
guide introduces basic environmental awareness; product selection and
step by step instructions.
Spill Response Training Course
This two hour course combines both theory and a practical demonstration in a simulated spill situation.
Participants learn how best to minimise the impact of a spill, by implementing best practices to control,
contain and efficiently clean up a spill situation. This course is ideal for all personnel who may have
to store, use, dispose or respond to an incident involving petrochemical (hydrocarbons) and chemical
liquid spills. Topics covered include: introduction to environmental legisation; workplace health & safety
considerations; EPA Guidelines; contaminants; absorption principles; product identification and use;
detailed step by step actions for spill response and disposal.
Presented using a combination of AV/Powerpoint presentation, verbal instruction, group participation
and practical demonstration, this course can be conducted in our training rooms at Ecospill, or onsite at
your premises. A certificate of attendance is awarded to each workplace following successful completion.

What type of Products are in the Spill Kits?
Essentially, there are three main absorbent products in every Hydrocarbon Spill Kit.

SNOW Universal Absorbent(Premium Spill Kits)
- White powder type: (very light in weight) in 5kg bags. - Absorbs fuel, oil, paint, vegetable, mineral and chemical* liquid / semi-liquid spills. - Made from inert inorganic minerals. - Encapsulates absorbed material. - Will not leach or drip, leaves surface dry. - Re-usable.
POLYPROPYLENE MATS (WHITE MATS)
