1. Overview
XVL Converter Plug-in for CATIA V5 R19/R20 is new tool for converting CATIA V5 data to XVL. It is a plug-in for CATIA and works within the CATIA environment. It also supports an API Option (see separate document) which enables the converter to be executed automatically without human interaction.
1-1. System Environment

This product has been tested in the following environment:

NOTE: The behavior of the converter might be different on different CAD versions. If a problem occurs, please confirm the behavior on the above-mentioned CAD version.
2. Installation
This chapter explains about the installation of XVL Converter Plug-in for CATIA V5 R19/R20
Start the installer by double-clicking the installation file.
Ex) XVLConvV5R19-1_0.exe XVL Converter Plug-in for CATIA V5 R19 version 1.0

2-1. Installation Settings
This section describes the installation settings in the installer.
2. Read the license agreement and select “I accept the terms of the license agreeement” to accept. Then click Next >.
Confirm the installation directory. If you would like to change the installation directory, click Change… and specify the installation path. NOTE: when specifying the installation path, be sure not to include any spaces or double-byte characters in the path name.
4. When you are ready, click Install to install XVL Converter Plug-in for CATIA V5 R19/R20.
2-2. License File Settings
XVL Converter Plug-in for CATIA V5 R19/R20 requires a license file. It supports nodelocked and floating licenses.
The nodelocked license is called xvltranscatia5.ltl. To use a nodelocked license, place the license in the license folder. This folder can be accessed as follows.

[Start Menu]-[Program Files]-[XVL Converter Plug-in for CATIA V5 R19]-[CATIA V5 License Folder].

[Start Menu]-[Program Files]-[XVL Converter Plug-in for CATIA V5 R20]-[CATIA V5 License Folder].
To use a floating license, set the following options in the configuration file: LicenseHost=hostname
LicensePort=9999
If those options are not set, XVL Converter Plug-in for CATIA V5 R19/R20 will look for a nodelocked license.
2-3. Environment Variables
XVL Converter Plug-in for CATIA V5 R19/R20 uses the following environment variables:
Environment Variable Value
TEMP Full pathname of directory used to write temporary files.
If these environment variables are not set on your system, set them.
Use the following method to set environment variables on Windows NT / 2000 / XP.
- Right clicking [My Computer] and selecting “Properties”.
2. On the System Properties dialog, select [Advanced] Æ [Environment Variables].
3. In the Environment Variables dialog, the upper half shows user variables and the bottom half shows system variables that are common for all users. You can set the variables in either half.
4. Select [New] to create a new environment variable.
5. Enter the environment variable name and value and select [OK] to accept it.
3. Uninstallation and Upgrade
When you want to uninstall the converter, use “Add or Remove Programs” in the Control Panel. When you want to upgrade the converter, please uninstall the current converter before installing the new converter.
