Avaya IP Office SE Primary Server

The DL360, R210 or virtualized primary server is the single, centralized, license server for the following licenses in a Server Edition network:

• Server Edition (includes Virtualized) • SIP Trunk

• Avaya IP Endpoint • 3rd Party IP Endpoint

• Office Worker • Power User

• UMS Web Service

The primary server reserves all the licenses necessary for its operation first. Then, the primary server allocates licenses on a first come, first serve basis to the secondary server and any expansions in the network. All

centralized licenses must be assigned to the system ID of the primary server to be available for use by all nodes.

Server

The DL360, R210 or virtualized primary or secondary servers can be the messaging license server for the following licenses in a Server Edition network:

• Messaging Ports

• Messaging Text To Speech (TTS) Pro • Messaging Recordings Administrators

These licenses should be assigned to the server (primary or secondary) where

Voicemail Pro is configured to function under normal circumstances. No

messaging licenses need to be assigned to the server (primary or secondary) acting as the failover for Voicemail Pro. [New for 9.0]

Avaya IP Office SE 9.0 Enhancements

Receptionist (aka SoftConsole) for Server Edition

With 9.0 software, the Receptionist License can now be assigned to any node in the Server Edition network. The maximum number of Receptionists Licenses allowed is a Server Edition network is now 32. On 8.1 software, the Receptionist License could only be assigned to the primary server and the maximum allowed for the network was 10. Voicemail Pro Resiliency/Failover for Server Edition

9.0 software eliminates the need to have Voicemail Pro Port Licenses on the secondary server in order to support Voicemail Pro resiliency. Now, all varieties of Voicemail Pro

Licenses should be assigned to the primary server only. All features of Voicemail Pro will become active on the secondary server during failover without the need for a second set of licenses on the secondary server. The grace period is still applicable when the primary is not available.

For Voicemail Pro ports in a R8.1 to R9.0 upgrade scenario, the existing R8.1 Voicemail Pro Licenses on the secondary server remain available after the upgrade to R9.0 in addition to the number of Voicemail Pro ports on the primary server.

Deployment Specific Factors

The system identification is partially based on a number of factors relating to the particular virtual machine's deployment. Redeploying the virtual machine will change its system identification. That will immediately

invalidate any licenses already in the IP Office configuration. To move the virtual machine to another virtual server platform without requiring new licenses, use vMotion.

Configuration Specific Factors

The system identification is also partially based on the following parameters of the virtual machine. Changing any of these parameters changes the virtual machine's system identification:

· Host Name [IP Office System Name] · LAN1 IP Address

· LAN2 IP Address · Time Zone

License Grace Period

If the virtual machine already contains licenses and the system identification changes, the licenses remain valid for a 30- day grace period. During that 30-day period, if you make more than 5 further changes to the parameters above, the existing licenses become invalid immediately. Therefore, we strongly recommend that you finalize all these parameters before acquiring any licenses from Avaya.
