Plan Analysis – First Step
• HERS Rating – Energy Star = 86 + 15% Above the IECC – Measured by REM Rate Software
• Review Plan and Do Take-off for Square Footage,
Window/Door Sizes, Ceilings Heights, Wall Area, etc. • Complete a Builder Profile –Materials Used to Construct
the Home, i.e. types of Insulation, Window Values, HVAC & Water Heater Equipment Efficiency Ratings, etc.
• Recommendations on What to do if Plan does not Pass • Builder Option Packages (BOPs) – Prescriptive Method
Based on Window to Wall Ratio
• Energy Efficient Mortgage Reports also Calculated by REM Rate
Energy Efficiency for
Existing Homes
• Option 1: Energy Efficiency Audits to determine current conditions. Recommendation made to
increase performance based on cost effectiveness for the home owner
• Option 2: Rating done to document the existing condition of the home. Rater makes
recommendations on upgrades in building materials and equipment to reach desired
efficiency. Primarily used to obtain and Energy Efficient Mortgage to finance Improvements in a Home Re-Finance situation.
