2. Safety

2.1 General information

1. Do not use this device in a damp environment.

2. Do not try to repair this device yourself.

3. Under the following circumstances, have the device repaired by qualified personnel:

a) The cable or plug is damaged or worn.

b) Liquid has entered the device.

c) The device has been dropped and/or the casing has been damaged.

4. Position the device so that the cables cannot be damaged.

2.2 Batteries

1. The alkaline batteries supplied are not rechargeable. Do not try to recharge them, because this may cause them to explode.

2. Never throw the batteries onto an open fire. The batteries may explode.

3. Never drill holes into the batteries.

4. Keep the batteries out of the reach of small children.

5. Only use AAA alkaline batteries with this camera. Duracell Ultra batteries are recommended.

When the batteries are empty, ask your local authority where you can dispose of them.

Note: Both standard NiCd batteries and rechargeable NiMH batteries are unsuitable for use.

Note: Do not use old and new batteries at the same time, because the old batteries may deplete the new ones.

5. Using the camera

5.1 Setting the resolution

The TRUST 310F MOBILEC@M allows you to take photographs in three different resolutions: High (approximately 44 photos), Normal (approximately 96 photos) and Low (approximately 198 photos).

Table 3 gives the various camera modes.

The default mode when the camera is turned on is MODE 1.

If you wish to change the camera to another mode, use the ‘MODE’ button (K) to scroll through the menu until you find the mode you wish to use.

Mode Description

1 *** + camera Highest resolution in the PHOTO mode.

2 ** + camera Normal resolution in the PHOTO mode.

3 * + camera Lowest resolution in the PHOTO mode.

4 ** + video Normal resolution in the VIDEO mode.

5 ** + camera + automatic

exposure Normal resolution in the PHOTO mode with the automatic exposure.

6 Camera + AUTO flash +

OFF (ON) Mode for setting the flash.

Table 3: Functions of the ‘MODE’ button (K) Carry out the following to set the camera mode:

1. Turn the camera on using the ‘MODE’ button (K). Both indicators E and F will be lit and a single beep will be heard when the camera is turned on.

2. The default mode is MODE 1 (see table 3). To change the camera’s resolution, press the ‘MODE’ button (K) (see table 3) a number of times.

The camera is changed from the low resolution to the high resolution as described above.

A beep will be heard each time one of the camera’s buttons is pressed.

The camera has now been set to the desired resolution.

5.2 Taking photographs

Refer to figures 2 and 3 and the corresponding tables to take photographs.

1. Turn the camera on using the ‘MODE’ button (K). Both indicators E and F will be lit and a single beep will be heard when the camera is turned on.

2. If the red indicator is lit, there is insufficient light to take a photograph. If desired, set the flash to AUTO as described in chapter 5.2.

3. Search for the object you wish to photograph in the viewfinder (C) and press the exposure button (G) to take a photograph.

When the exposure button is pressed, a short beep will be heard to indicate that the photograph has been taken. Indicator F will also light up for a short time. The number of photographs taken indicated on the LCD screen will also be increased by 1.

Note: When the distance from the object to the lens is less than 45 cm, the distance is too small to use the viewfinder.

(11)

UK

Note: The quality of the photograph depends on the amount of light. The more light, the better the quality of the photograph.

4. When the memory is full, the USB indicator and the counter on the display will flash. You must save the recordings in the camera's memory on your computer and empty the camera’s memory before making new recordings. See chapter 8 for instructions on how to save recorded images. See chapter 5.4 for instructions on how to delete recorded images.

Note: Keep the glass lens clean so as not to affect the quality of the photographs. Use a soft, dry cloth or a cotton bud to clean the lens. NEVER use (aggressive) cleaning products.

If the camera is not used, it will automatically turn off after a certain time to save the battery power.

The red indicator F will be lit if there is less light. In many cases, a photograph can still be taken without using the flash. You can experiment to find the best situation with regard to the amount of light and the use of the flash.

You can create photographs in the 1.3Mpix resolution by taking photographs in the highest resolution (***), loading them on your computer using the PhotoEZ3 program and then increasing the resolution (see chapter 9.3).

5.2.1 Setting the flash

The flash of the TRUST 310F MOBILEC@M has two settings, i.e. OFF and AUTO. The default setting when the camera is turned on is OFF.

The flash is set to AUTO as follows:

1. Turn the camera on using the ‘MODE’ button (K). Both indicators E and F will be lit and a single beep will be heard when the camera is turned on.

2. Go to camera mode 6 (see table 3) by pressing button K until the text OFF is displayed on the LCD screen.

3. Press the exposure button (G). The text OFF will now change to ON and symbol 2 (see table 2) will start to flash.

4. Click on button K again to confirm the new setting and return to the camera menu.

The flash will now only work when necessary.

The camera has now been set to the desired flash setting.

You can repeat the procedure given above to turn the flash off again.

Note: When the camera has been turned off, the flash will automatically return to the OFF setting when the camera is turned back on. You will, therefore, have to repeat the procedure given above to turn the flash back on.

Note: Using the flash will cause the batteries to become empty more quickly, because the flash uses a lot of energy. It is also possible that the charging time will take longer, the more the flash is used.

The flash will be automatically deactivated a couple of minutes after the flash can no longer be charged as a result of the batteries having insufficient power. You can take approximately 30-40 photographs using the flash with new Duracell Ultra batteries (type AAA).

5.2.2 Automatic exposure

Note: The automatic exposure function only works in the normal (**) resolution.

The camera has an automatic exposure function which gives a time delay of 10 seconds before the photograph is taken. You can select this setting by scrolling through the camera menu using the MODE button (K). Mode 5 (see table 2) will now be displayed in the LCD screen. Now press the exposure button (G) to activate the automatic exposure.

Whilst counting down (10 seconds) a beep will be heard, which will become faster as the time elapses.

(12)

5.3 Making a video

Note: The video function only works in the normal (**) resolution.

You can use the TRUST 310F MOBILEC@M to record a video (without sound) which lasts for 96 seconds (1 minute and 36 seconds).

To start recording the video, turn the camera on and scroll through the camera menu using the MODE button (K) until mode 4 (see table 2) is displayed. Press the exposure button (G) and keep it pressed whilst

recording. The red indicator (F) will be lit whilst recording and the time recorded will be shown on the display.

The recording will stop when the exposure button (G) is released.

5.4 Deleting recordings

To delete recordings, you can either choose to delete all the recordings or only the last recording. You must delete recordings when the memory is full or if you do not wish to keep the last recording.

5.4.1 Deleting the last recording

Press the ‘Delete’ button (J ) once to delete the last recording.

5.4.2 Deleting all the recordings

Keep the ‘Delete’ button J pressed for 4 seconds until three zeros are displayed on the screen. All the recordings (photographs and videos) have now been deleted.
