SUPERINTENDENT WELCOMES
STUDENTS AND THEIR FAMILIES
Welcome to Carroll County Public Schools!
Speaking as a member of the faculty and staff of the division, we promise to work collaboratively each day with the parents, students and other stakehold-ers in the community to provide the best educational experience for the children of Carroll County. We will strive daily to exceed the high academic standards and expectations set by you, the members of our community, as well as those set by our state and federal educational agencies.
We are blessed to have the greatest kids in the Commonwealth and fully ac-cept the responsibility to prepare them for continuing education, careers and the groundwork for becoming productive citi-zens in our community. We are proud of our past accomplishments but continue to re-imagine our schools and educational programs to ensure our students are
pre-pared for the future.
We invite you to browse our website,visit our schools and talk with your child’s teachers, administrators, and staff. We en-courage you to take an active role in the education of our number one resource for the future, our children. Our mission is to provide education for all within our com-munity, which respects, supports and en-courages those who learn and those who teach in an environment that is safe and secure.
On behalf of the Carroll County School Board, I thank you for your continuing support of Carroll County Public Schools and look forward to working with each of you in accomplishing our vision of “Edu-cation for All…Success for Everyone.”
Please feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns.

DISTRICT ADDRESSES RECENT MISCONCEPTIONS
Much information and dis-cussion has been shared recent-ly through state, national, and social media outlets about cur-riculum issues affecting public schools across both Virginia and the nation. In regard to these discussions and miscon-ceptions, Carroll County Public Schools releases the following statement:
Carroll County Public Schools has no plans to elimi-nate advanced level math cours-es or decrease the rigor of our current math curriculum;
Carroll County Public Schools will continue to offer both advanced and standard di-ploma options to our students;
Carroll County Public Schools strives to provide all children according to their strengths and individual needs what they require to learn and become successful both in school and in life.
In its efforts to ensure that all students have the same oppor-tunities, the Virginia Depart-ment of Education has made equity a primary focus of public
schools. The Virginia Depart-ment of Education’s program, EdEquityVA is defined by the commitment to eliminating the predictability of student out-comes based on race, gender, gender identity, zip code, abil-ity, socio-economic status, and/ or languages spoken at home. Student equity has and will continue to be a major priority.

Dear Cavalier Connected Parents & Guardians,
We are happy that you and your student(s) have been able to take advantage of our 100% virtual instruction program, Cava-liers Connected, during the 2020-21 school year. As this school year comes to a close, we want to provide some preliminary infor-mation regarding our plans for the summer and the next school year:
• It is the expectation that all current
Cavalier Connected students return to in-person instruction beginning next school year. All Carroll County Public School teachers will be returning to the classroom and we will not be offering a 100% remote instruction program except in extraordi-nary circumstances on a case-by-case basis. • The first day of school for the 2021 school year is scheduled for August 11th, 2021. A copy of the 2021-2022 school cal-endar is linked here.
• You will register your student for at-tendance next year as a “returning student” prior to the start of the school year. The registration window will open in late July.
• Summer session was set for June 7th - June 30th. This is an “in-person” summer session that is being offered at all Carroll County schools.
We are so excited to welcome your child back to in-person instruction. We believe strongly that nothing can replace the
day-to-day in-person interactions children have with each other and their teacher.
If you have any questions or concerns regarding this information above please do not hesitate to contact the Cavaliers Con-nected administrator Ryan Newberry by calling 276-728-9055. You may also contact the Department of Instruction by calling 276-730-3200.
Thank you!
