Financial Assistance
Only applicants intending to enroll full-time during the academic year (Fall and Spring semesters) at the School of Education will be considered for SED General Scholarships. SED General Scholarship awards apply to tuition for the academic year only.
If you are admitted, you will receive detailed information about financial assistance including scholarships, loans, Work-Study, etc. In addition, you will receive information about how to apply for graduate assistantships. In the meantime, you are encouraged to submit a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). If you plan to fund all or part of your degree with loans, you will need to provide your Social Security number at some point in the process if you do not do so on this application.

• Statement of Qualifications and Objectives: Enclose a statement describing your qualifications and the objectives of your professional career. The statement should be 1–2 pages.
• Analytical Essay (doctoral applicants only): Enclose an essay identifying key arguments on a current educational or social issue pertinent to your field. This essay should be 500 to 700 words.
• Optional Essay (optional): Applicants may enclose an additional essay with any information they want to bring to the Admissions Committee’s attention.
• Named Scholarship Essay (optional):
— Ansin Intercultural Research Fund Essay: Attach an essay explaining your commitment to increasing intercultural understanding among cultural, ethnic, and/or religious groups in pre-k–grade 12 or adult education settings in the United States or internationally.
— Glenn Fellowship Essay (doctoral applicants only): Attach an essay with your response to the following: What is your experience with conducting research and how do you plan to apply the research training you will receive at SED in your future career? Discuss your interest in being a Glenn Fellow and your qualifications for the Fellowship.
