essential information

The University congratulates all graduands on successful completion of their studies. It also wishes every success to students awaiting the publication of their final classification. In order to graduate, students need to complete their studies and their final classifications should be published by the beginning of November 2015. We wish to make your Graduation and Awards Ceremony a memorable occasion.

(4)

Dear Graduand,

Congratulations! You have finally arrived at your destination, having travelled on an arduous journey that took years to complete. Almost certainly, this experience which reaches its climax on Graduation Day, will serve to change your future for the better. We understand that you are in a celebratory mood and we are happy for you and your family who must also feel that this is their day too.

I am also writing to you today to urge you to be mindful of the importance of expressing your happiness and sense of celebration in an orderly and prudent manner, as I know most of you are. Unfortunately, in the recent past, these joyous occasions were often marred by behaviour that was unbecoming and brought harm to the students themselves and to others.

Please do not let this unique occasion be spoilt by such actions. Recognise that alcohol, merriment and “carcading” do not go well, or even safely, together. Please do not celebrate noisily on campus and avoid visiting faculties, especially those that are not your own. Other students and staff need to continue with their work during this longish period of ceremonies and evening pageantry. In conclusion, my message to you is this: enjoy this crowning moment, let the joy and satisfaction be felt also by family and friends and make this a truly memorable experience for the right reasons.

Yours Sincerely,

Professor Juanito camilleri
