Bazaar Committee

The Committee wishes to thank all our Briny Folks who came to the Q2 furniture sale held this last Wednesday between 10 and 12 purchasing chairs, tables and cabinets! It was a treat to see all of you having fun picking out your new favorite furniture and it gave us a chance to reduce our inventory that we will have to store though the summer. So……We’re going to do it again!

Please mark your busy calendars for ROUND #2 of the Q2 Furniture Sale: April 6 @ 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Landscape Committee

The Landscape Committee graciously appreciates the wonderful donation of a Memorial Brick to be placed in the Fountain Plaza. This loving Memorial in honor of Bill McGee, was made by his dear friends, Bunny and Ray Oldis.

Bill was a retired, long time teacher and he especially enjoyed connecting with at risk youngsters at his school. Although Bill was not able to enjoy Briny for as many years as some Briny Residents….he certainly enjoyed connecting with the many New York colleagues that would come to sit on his patio and treasured the view of the boats cruising the intercoastal as well as the Briny Sunsets. His infectious laughter will certainly be missed.

5 Memorial Fountain Bricks

We would like to remind our Briny residents that Fountain Circle Bricks are still available and can be ordered in two sizes, 4” x 8” and 8” x 8”. Please find the application forms in the Briny Mailroom. We will be ordering another batch soon and the more bricks we order to be customized, the easier it is to arrange for installation. Remember, the bricks can be engraved with special tributes to family members, memorializing special events or people. Also, some bricks have been created for various clubs and organizations.

Orientation for New Owners/Renters

Given the pandemic we stopped offering Orientation to our Community, our Corporation and Town last March. Using a new format we will again offer this via remote Zoom. The dates we will be offering them are listed below. If you have not had an opportunity to participate as a newer shareholder or if you just want a refresher, chose a time that works for you and RSVP to Susan Brannen - [email protected]. Typically the Orientation lasts for about an hour. Following the completion of the orientation we will notify the office of your participation if indeed it is part of the requirement. If you do not have access to the internet or to Zoom, let us know- we will try and set up something for you at Briny. Two members of the committee will join with you to Welcome you and help you enjoy the Briny community. Help us catch up, sign up now.

Many thanks Susan J. Brannen, Chair 585-734-4890 [email protected]

Sea Turtle Nesting Season Begins March 1st

Florida's beaches are important nesting areas for sea turtles, and the sand dunes are home to many unique plants and animals. Please help protect Florida's sea turtles, other wildlife

and the coastal habitats upon which they depend. The sea turtle nesting season in Florida runs from March through October on the Atlantic coast. During the sea turtle season, please remember a few simple things to help protect these magnificent creatures and their habitat:

• It is against the law to touch or disturb nesting sea turtles, hatchlings, or their nests. Sea turtles are protected by both the Federal Endangered Species Act and the Florida Marine Protection Act.

If you see an injured or dead sea turtle, call the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission 1-888-404-FWCC (3922) or *FWC from your cell phone. Please be prepared to answer the following questions: What is the exact

the turtle? Is the turtle marked with spray paint? (This indicates that the turtle has been documented.) What is the location of the closest access point to the turtle?

• Avoid going to the beach at night. If you must be on the beach at night, limit your walking and do not use flashlights or flash photography. The light may cause the female to abort the nesting process, or other sea turtles nearby may be discouraged from nesting if there are lights on the beach.

• Turn off outside patio lights and shield indoor lights from shining directly onto the beach by closing the drapes at night. Lights disturb nesting sea turtles and hatchlings. Please make sure your beachfront lights are in compliance with the law.

• While enjoying the beautiful beaches during the day, avoid disturbing marked sea turtle nests, and please take your trash with you when you leave the beach.

• When crossing a dune, please use designated cross overs and walkways. Do not climb over the dunes or disturb the dune vegetation.

SHARING IS CARING!

Last year, the Community Caring Center became part of a larger organization, Boca Helping Hands, to distribute food locally. They thank all of you for your donations last year.

I will continue to drop off the food here in Boynton Beach where they distribute it from the church on Seacrest/Boynton Beach Blvd. If you have any food, cans, unopened boxes or unopened toiletries that you wish to donate, please leave on my mother’s (Ann Kimlicka) patio, G-11 Ruthmary in the box on the patio table. The center appreciates our donations which help supply groceries to local families. Also, kindly check the expiration dates before donating. Stay safe and healthy and we'll see you again next season!

Thank you very much. Barbara Molina
