Select Case Studies

Strategy

 A major supplier of flooring products wanted to enter the Latin American market as a manufacturer and not an importer. The client sold into the region but had an incomplete picture of materials used, pricing, competition, distribution and growth. Cedar Consulting completed an analysis of the markets, identified customers, channel and manufacturing partners and recommended a strategy to use the new location for regional sales as well as an export base to Asia, Europe and the U.S.

Our client decided to broaden its Latin American product offering and establish local production. This move coupled with the entry of several “big box” building material retailers has significantly contributed to growth in sales.

Opportunity Assessment

 Due to the rapid expansion of automotive production capacity in Brazil, many of our U.S. clients were interested in establishing presence to supply parts to both the OEM and the aftermarket.

Cedar Consulting’s Brazilian office created a comprehensive assessment of the current and future market for automotive components in Brazil.

This program helped clients determine which components, customers and partners to target as well as provided a clear view of the nature of risks and opportunities facing part suppliers in the region.

Distribution Analysis

A manufacturer of fasteners for automotive, aerospace and general industry

wanted to explore new directions in Latin America. The client was not pleased

with sales growth and profitability, particularly in Brazil.

Cedar Consulting determined that the local partner was undermanned and

inadequate but that the client did not provide the optimal product lines to

achieve better results. Cedar Consulting recommended new partners and

product offerings more in line with the market.

Cedar Consulting’s recommendations resulted in improved results and

helped lead to the development of new products and large contracts

with local customers.
