OUR CHURCH FAMILY

Pray for Rev. John and Sue Kim as both are having health concerns.

Sue received the good news that her biopsy of her brain tumor was

benign. She will undergo additional treatment followed by a two or three week rehab. Meanwhile, Pastor John Kim plans on completing his treatments in South Korea earlier than expected.

Ted Martinie had a change in how his heart medicine was being

delivered. His heart is responding well, his blood pressure has come down and he is again receiving some therapy.

Phil Michmerhuizen has couple spots indicating cancer lower on his

head which will need more treatment. He has been scheduled to receive three more weeks of radiation.

Our Christian sympathy is extended to Ken and Joyce Schierbeek in the passing of Ken’s dad, Bert Schierbeek, who passed away

Thursday morning. Funeral arrangements are pending.

Jim Snay is recovering from back surgery and making good progress

at Freedom Village where he is receiving rehab and therapy.

service, please join Henry and Nancy Bosch as they celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with cake and refreshments.

Photos Needed! The Sesquicentennial committee has requested that

a photo board be set up to display current and historical pictures of Niekerk ministries and activities. We need help collecting photos for this board! Digital photos may be emailed to

[email protected] and prints may be left in Klaasen's church mailbox. If you would like your print returned to you, please put your name on the back. Thanks for your help! NOTE: We are

especially looking for older photos of activities or celebrations or milestone at Niekerk, photos from the 1930’s on. Open up those treasure boxes and let us share with you those wonderful moments!

Act Now – There’s Still Time! On February 11, the Michigan Senate

Oversight Committee took up Senate Bills 564 and 565. The Senate will vote on this bill this week or next. The bill then goes to the House of Representatives for a vote. Together the bills will eliminate any payment to abortion clinics for providing organs or tissue from an aborted baby to researchers. Videos released last year showing Planned Parenthood haggling over “reimbursement fees” highlighted a loophole which needs to be addressed. The bills are now pending on the Senate floor where a vote is anticipated in the near future. Contact your state senator to vote YES. Your senator contact information can be found in the Niekerk News.

Petition Signing! Protecting unborn children from the brutality of

dismemberment abortions is a legislative priority for Michigan. On November 10, the Michigan House Criminal Justice Committee

advanced the bills to the floor by a 5-3 vote. A law is needed because D&E dismemberment abortions are a brutal as the partial-birth abortion method, which is now illegal in Michigan and the United States. You can sign the petition by going to www.rtl.org or the Information Center.

Hand2Hand. We are collecting peanut butter (18oz plastic jars) and

no-sugar-added fruit and applesauce cups for the month of May. PLASTIC BAGS NEEDED.

Make an Impact Concert, benefitting Hand 2 Hand Ministries is today

at 4:00pm at Faith Church in Zeeland. See the bulletin board for more details.

Collecting Pop Cans! The Youth Group is still collecting pop cans!

Please help them by bringing in your rinsed cans.

Building Men For Life is in need of pillows, pillow cases, twin size

Bible League Spring Luncheon. Please join us for the annual

luncheon on Thursday, April 28, at noon at Harderwyk CRC, 1627 W Lakewood Blvd. Lunch will be catered by James Street Inn and will be $8 per person. The speaker will be Von Genzink, local author who will share real world experiences from her book “Mountains of Mercy”. She encourages us to trust God when life seems overwhelming. For reservations call Nancy Roelofs at 616-688-5433 or Carolyn Rietman at 616-748-8425.

Church Assistance Program. Sometime stress is good—it can

motivate us to get involved, address an issue or achieve a goal. But too much stress can affect health. Anxiety, moodiness, worrying, increased use of alcohol or drugs, agitation, procrastinating or neglecting responsibilities are all signs of too much stress. Free, professional help is available by calling our CAP hotline at 455-6210 or 1-800-442-0809.

Pro-Life Corner. “M.I.A. [missing in abortion] P.O.W. [person or

waste?]” Planned Parenthood now sells the body parts of the babies they have aborted. They have outdone the Nazi’s.

The Christian Reformed Conference Grounds is busy getting ready for summer of 2016 and we need your help! May 10-13 is Senior Serve Week and we invite you to join us as we do general clean up around the grounds. Many things need to be done both inside and out! Camping and cottages are free if you are coming to work. Pastor Mike Devries will lead us in Bible Study each morning and the

evenings will be filled with food, fun, and fellowship! If you can’t stay the entire time you are welcome to drive out when you can. Give us a call at 616-842-4478 to make your reservation.
