RECORD BREAKING EVENT IN 2015

Sincerely,

Fehmi Ouaja

Exhibition Manager The BIG Show Oman The BIG Show Oman 2015 was the

largest building, construction and interior design event ever to take place in Oman.

This year, we focused on introducing more new profiles like the pool and spa, water technologies, green energy and the mechanical, electrical and plumbing sectors. The show registered more than 15,000 visitors—a record-breaking result for an Omani event. It has also achieved more than a 20% increase in exhibitor participation, both local and international, strengthening our drive to offer the best experience for both our exhibitors and visitors.

In 2016, you could expect to see more investment in free-to-attend, high-quality seminars and workshops. If we attract more potential buyers by providing new products, latest technologies, then we know that our exhibitors and sponsors will have the opportunity to meet more potential customers.

We look forward to seeing you from March 28 to 31, 2016 at the Oman International Exhibition Center.

AN OVERVIEW OF OmAN’S CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY

Oman’s construction industry foresees healthy growth driven mainly by government investment in infrastructure, as evidenced by the robust pipeline of large-scale construction projects and tenders being awarded to Oman construction companies and foreign contractors. Apart from the rise in scale of construction activity this year, the scope of building development is also seen to expand.

The government has planned US$ 56 billion worth of projects within the next two years, of which US$ 20 billion is earmarked for the transport sector, which includes Oman National Railway.

According to data from the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI), Oman’s gross domestic product (GDP) increased 4.6 per cent at the end of December 2014, standing at US$ 81.7 billion compared to US$ 80.7 billion in 2013. The construction industry witnessed a growth of 8.3 per cent touching US$ 5.2 billion.
