About Wewa
FOR MORE THAN 50 YEARS, YMCA CAMP WEWA In Apopka has been helping kids grow in spirit, mind and body. The 55-acre resident camp, located just north of Orlando, became a YMCA camp in the 1950s. It enjoys a rich history and tradition of unique adventure programs, discovery and exploration that form the foundation of an incredible camp environment where fun and growth go hand-in-hand.
Many of Central Florida’s top community, business and political leaders spent their youth making life-long friends, learning positive values and developing their leadership skills at Camp Wewa.
Campers are welcomed into the Wewa family and watched over as if they are our own children. Our trained staff is proud of the steps we take to ensure your child’s safety in all activities. Our counselors and staff are certified in CPR, First Aid, AED and Bloodborne Pathogens safety. Certified lifeguards are always on duty and programs are super- vised by individuals certified in each activity, including archery, riflery, team building/ROPES course and more. So, when your child joins the Wewa family, you can rest assured that they are in good hands—ours.
Spiritual Emphasis
At Camp Wewa, we build and strengthen our campers in spirit, mind and body. We are open and sensitive to the needs of children of all faiths. Through programs like our nondenominational morning and evening devotions, we devote time to campers’ spirit. Our voluntary Raggers and Leathers program allows campers to set personal goals in their own Christian walk.

Camp Wewa meets the rigid standards established by the National Council of YMCAs and the American Camp Association.

STAFF
| There is no camp, regard- less of facilities, that is any better than its staff. We are very proud ofthe outstanding young men and women who serve as instructors and counselors. Each staff member is carefully selected for his or her character, commitment to youth development, and camping- related skills. Background screening and drug tests are required of all staff. Additionally, all staff members are certified in CPR and First Aid.
HEALTH & SAFETY
| Your child’s health and safety are always our top priorities. A program balanced with vigorous activity and adequate rest provides an atmosphere of good health and well-being. Medical staff is in residence at the camp. The infirmary is supervised by a licensed nurse, and a doctor is on call and just minutes away.SCHOLARSHIP
| Camp Wewa provides financial assistance to campers that would otherwise be unable to attend camp. Each year, families, individuals, corporations and foundations contribute to YMCA Camp Wewa’s Scholarship Fund. Last year, over 150 campers attended Wewa with the help of YMCA members and community contributions.
Good times at Wewa are just ahead.
