Introduction

Quality Control as a quest for excellence

Quality - as we all know - is a result of checks, lots of checks.

Eurologos offices, in all their departments, whether it is

linguistic, graphic design, or

computing

- meticulously follow the eternal method known as the “ quality loop”, the

same one that is defined by ISO standards:

production – check - corrective action(s) –

check - final validation.

The departments devoted to software, online help, technical documentation, and

websites localization systematically double or even triple the checks of the “quality

loop” due to the fact that they are dealing with not only linguistic aspects

(the

translators)

but also typically IT characteristics

(engineers

) and graphic design

connotations

(graphic designers).

We have collected an array of Production forms, which our localization departments

(software localization and web localization) use on a daily basis in our offices, wherever

they are.

The pursuit of excellence demands no less.

The compilation of these production forms (and others) also coincides with the

establishment of the

traceability

of our production so that it can be the subject of

constant revision with the client in order to improve our performance (as well as that of

the client).

The quest for excellence (see our “Post-mortem” document) makes up the basis of our

partnership with the client.

No more unilingual sites! The Web is to

be localized into several languages!

When, at the beginning of 2001, Benoît Servais had the chance to become head of the website localization department at Eurologos-Brussels, he did not hesitate to become a confirmed “Eurologosite.” He would after all be able to localize (and even create) truly multilingual sites! If a website is not multilingual, it runs the risk of simply not even being one. In effect, a Web portal cannot simply limit itself to appearing like a pretty unilingual window but it must, above all, become a real communication

instrument with the target markets. In order to speak with contacts, especially future clients, it has to be done in their language. For Benoît, therefore, the creation (or updating) of websites meant above all localizing into several languages. And Eurologos, with its multilingualism, thanks to its thirty odd offices on four continents, was the ideal company for his development work whether it is of static or dynamic pages or in Flash. To be honest, it has been a long time that Benoît has been preparing for this task: after journalism studies, he devoted himself to programming sites on the Web because he quickly realized the strategic importance of “glocal” communication (global and local at the same time) specific to truly multilingual websites. In his militant idealism, he even became a Web instructor in a computer training school in Brussels. Dream Weaver, Flash, DHTML, ASP,

Coldfusion Javascript, and other do not pose any problem to the modern “journalist” at a globalized and multilingual business. Contact him, he will convince you quickly, with mouse in hand and his eyes already focused on your next Web screen. Multilingual, of course.
