Operational Concept of Ultrasonic Level Indicator
Ultrasonic sensor has two ports, one Trigger port and another Echo port. Both ports are speakers only. Trigger makes high frequency sound waves. These sound waves passed through the tank from top to bottom. The sound waves hit the water and reflected back in the form of Echo waves. The Echo opening receives the Echo waves. That echo then processed by the control circuit to calculate the time difference between the signal transmitted and received. The time between the transmission and reception of the signal allows us to know the distance to an object. This time subsequently be used along with some math, to calculate the distance between the sensor and the reflecting object. The water level sensor measures the time between Echo and Trigger. This travelled distance is directly proportional to the time.
Hence, if any unwanted obstacles comes in path of sound waves, it will give error in reading. Hence, the most important function in ultrasonic level indicator is appropriate location selection for its sensor.
The sensor works best between 2cm – 400 cm (1" - 13ft) within a 30-degree cone, and is accurate to the nearest 3 mm.

Basic Specification
Application: - For real time visual digital display of liquid level in liquid or water storage tanks.

8. A speaker will sound only once for 10 seconds during high level (above 80%) and low level (below 20%) range.

Unpack the box and assembling for installation Installation Checklist
1. Remove plastic wrap / packing from all components.
2. Verify that all components are as per packing list or ordered specification.
3. Please verify that all components are safe without any damage after transportation.
4. Please check cable length and power supply source availability as per product needs.
5. Plug in the power cord in power supply socket. Switch on the power, LCD displays “Engivative” and set value. This is a verification of product is safe after transportation.
6. For automatic pump on off as per tank level, keep pump cables identified for interlocking.
Safety Precautions.
1. Drop or impact may damage display or sensor internally or externally, which is not repairable.
2. Do not install display unit on walls subjected to vibrations.
3. Do not attempt to repair display unit.
4. Avoid unauthorised person to attend electrical and electronic components for repair or installation.
5. Please switch off power before any power connection or correction in wiring. Do not work with AC live power.
6. Warrantee voids if display unit seal is broken or attempt done to dismantle display unit.

Installation Procedure
1. Image 1 shows required bottom clear space for ultrasonic signal accurately functioning. With increase in depth of tank, required clear space increases. For example 550 mm diameter is required for 1000 mm depth, for 2000 mm depth this value will be 1350 mm diameter. Hence based on total depth of tank, consider wall clearance distance for mounting of sensor. Also in specified diameter area, there should be no obstacles such as inlet water flow, piping or floats, pump or anything which may give wrong image of level.
2. Image 2 shows nearest wall distance for mounting of ultrasonic sensor.
The distance “X” should be considered based on tank’s total depth as per image 1. The value “x” is half of specified diameter in image 1 with respect to tank depth. Slight lesser value will not make any difference. If distance ‘X” is too low compared to given details with respect to tank depth, the level display value for low filled tank will not show reading with desired accurately.
3. Image 3 shows best suitable positions of ultrasonic level sensor on circular as well as rectangular tanks. We must consider signal path clear and free from all possible obstacles. There should be no obstacles such as walls, pipes, wires, or water flow falls in ultrasonic signal passage below sensor location. The sensor location should be away from incoming fluid lines. It must be noted that area specified in image 1 should be available in all installation with steady water level.
4. Review images 1 to 3 for making decision to make a hole of 34 mm diameter on top of tank. For example, a minimum radial distance of 250 mm is required between tank wall to sensor for better functioning for tank depth of @ 1000 mm. If tank depth increases, higher distance is needed as per image no. 1
5. Make sure that position for hole drilling is on flat surfaces of tank top for more accurately mounting of sensor.
6. Make 34 mm diameter hole on top of tank with help of plumber or carpenter by hall saw cutter on selected appropriate position.
7. Measure depth of tank from its base up to bottom of over flow pipe outlet. This measurement is required for setting range in display unit for automatic display & control based on tank depth.
8. Keep tank manhole open and install sensor from tank inside with locking nut at outside.
9. Gently lay the sensor cable up to location of display unit. Do not pull the cable for its safety.

10. Use cable tie and clamping arrangement to avoid sensor cable pull and damage due to movement.
11. Install level display unit near to power source with user convenience height to view it clearly.
12. Plug or connect the sensor cable as per given marking only.
13. Connect pump auto run cable at the bottom left of display unit. Apply insulation tape on joint. Refer image No. 4 for further details of pump cable connection. Image 4 gives single page set up guide to install complete unit.
14. Measure depth of tank from bottom to over flow height in mm. This is our working range of level indicator.
15. Switch on power supply. For first 10 seconds range setting display will be on screen.
16. A range setting potentiometer know is given at bottom of sensor nearest to middle position. During this 10 second duration, rotate potentiometer knob to set the working range for tank. The range should be matching to our tank water depth we measured earlier.
17. If time lapses and level measurement starts by display unit, switch off and on power supply, the display unit will again display set value for 10 seconds for required correction.
18. Make sure that on off switch in line for pump operation switched on. If you need special tank filling alternative with bypassing ultrasonic level indicator controller, please provide pump operation bypass switch. This switch will start pump irrespective of level display by level indicator.
Make sure that during normal operation, the bypass switch must be switched off to prevent overflow of tank.
19. Once tank level downs to alarm low level, speaker will give audible signal and pump on relay will make pump running till the tank is filled up to defined high level. Pump on of operation will be displayed by a red LED during the time of low level of tank up to pump cut off position at higher level of tank. Also another red LED will glow for low level of tank.
20. The pump will remain on till the level in water tank reaches 80% of set value. At this point, speaker will give audible signal for filled tank.
Trouble shooting errors in level indicator
1. Check for any physical damage in level display unit or sensor.
2. Check any obstacle in tank for signal transmission and receiving correctly by sensor.

3. Check power supply voltage matching to specification.
4. Check damage in signal cable.
5. Switch off and on unit again, this will restart display unit.
6. Check physical water level in tank.
7. Check sensor faces are clean or not.
8. Remove if any obstacles found in path of ultrasonic waves below sensor area.
9. If it is still not functioning, please contact company for support by complete details on mail or whats app.
