Davidson Building, Southampton Street

Contemporary office space in the heart of Covent Garden

Built in 2003, Davidson Building is a double award winning, landmark development that provides high specification office space just moments from Covent Garden market. Comprising a

newly refurbished stunning ground floor reception, four double-aspect floors with cantilevered

balconies on levels two and three and a glazed fifth floor penthouse office with private terrace. The structure sits behind a freestanding, tension- held façade and represents an extraordinary fusion of old and new.

From behind the elegant Edwardian façade of 5 Southampton Street, it’s just possible to make out the markers of modernity. A series of aluminium fins run the length of the parapet, holding in place the glazed roof of a deep atrium, behind which unfolds a modern, flexible and sustainable office building.

Formerly the site of London’s fruit, vegetable and flower market, today’s Covent Garden is abuzz with commercial activity. Its famously characteristic blend of shops, restaurants, hotels and theatres ensures it remains a sought-after location for businesses that want the best for their clients and staff.

Mulberry, Floral Street

A cosmopolitan hub yet steeped in history, Covent Garden can offer something for

everyone. Those seeking culture, the classical columned Royal Opera House is a striking landmark overlooking the Piazza and is home to both the Royal Opera and the Royal Ballet. For food enthusiasts, the area has been at the centre of London’s culinary scene for decades, enabling visitors and occupiers to discover something a little bit different as well as reconnect with old favourites.

And for the shopaholics, flagship stores stand shoulder to shoulder with designer boutiques and the vibrant market stalls which surround the Piazza offer art, antiques, homemade foods and handicrafts and everything in between.

A substantial overhaul to the building’s

entrance and interiors has produced inspiring space for a new generation of tenants.

The refurbished Davidson Building features a new frameless glass foyer, affording an effortless welcome into the building’s light and airy

reception area. Gently lit from behind a Barrisol stretch ceiling and with a classic white Carrara marble floor and wall detail, the space feels considered yet understated, housing a bespoke reception desk and seating area finished in dark red leather.

Both the second and third floors feature a glazed balcony that overlooks the open atrium and the sand-lime rendered interior of the original façade. The fifth floor penthouse office benefits from stunning views over Covent Garden,

abundant natural light as well as a surrounding terrace paved in silver-grey granite. Each floor features refurbished WCs and showers, finished in a striking black and white Carrara marble.

The building offers potential tenants flexible and open plan office space that can be adapted to suit individual needs. A sustainable approach to climate control, combining an intelligent

notification via a ‘traffic light’ system, openable windows, displacement air conditioning and exposed concrete ceilings ensures the natural regulation of the building’s temperature in the most sustainable and affordable way.
