Mother & Child care products’ market on an upswing and growing at a CAGR of 15-20 per cent year-on-year. The market size for baby products in India is about Rs 15-25 billion, out of which, the estimated online

market for baby product hovers around Rs 100-120

crore and experts opine that it tends to double every 6 to 8 months.

With India being home to about 50 million babies in the 0-2 years age group and 304.8 million children in the 0-12 years age group, the country offers immense opportunities in this segment.

India has the biggest number of world’s population under the age group of 35 years, which mean many babies are on their way.

KPMG estimates the size of the kids' wear market in India at Rs 28,000-30,000 crore, and expects it to

reach Rs 43,000 crore by 2016 and Rs 72,000 crore by 2021.

Currently the middle class is growing very rapidly.

The spending power of the people is increasing.

The education in India in terms of number is

increasing. Today, more and more people are educated compared to 20 years back. That is what makes the consumer advance and quality conscious.

But at the same time there has been subsequent back wave in Mother and children care clothing's like Gini & Jony shelved its IPO or Lilliput shutting down

international operations. Etc

The reason for their fall out was these companies could not build brand recall, especially as their

products did not stand apart from the offerings in the larger unorganised market.

This is where we come in picture. At the moment, there is no other brand available in the market that offers anti-microbial baby and mother care clothing's.

Precaution is better than cure.

Skin is most sensitive part of child and Mom.Clothes protect skin only against wear.

Anti-bacterial treated clothes will have protect dually i.e. against wear and also against germs.

This is necessary for Mom’s during and after

pregnancy stage as their bodies are weak and most viable for attack of germs.

Same is for babies i.e new babies are very

susceptible to germs since their immune systems haven't had time to develop.

Also the new born babies discharge urine/ fecal in night. It might be possible that there is delay in changing clothes leading to transfer of germs to clothes and body.

Mom and children wear Market : Need for

Innovative differentiation.

Market crowded with lot of foreign and local brands.

Functional finish helps to create top of the mind awareness

about the brand and premium positioning among the

competitor brands.

Functional finish helps the brand to stand out in terms of

performance with specific USP.

 Gives the much needed product differentiation from local market cost

effective structure.

Advancements in antimicrobial technology such as ZYCROBIAL

is providing clothing brands to offer different ranges of

antimicrobial clothes to protect Mom & Child.

(13)

Most new moms and dads are paranoid about germs as new babies are very susceptible to germs since their immune systems are still to develop.

During washing : Since family members' clothes --

especially underwear -- may contain contaminants that could wind up on your baby's sensitive skin.

New clothing that will have contact with infant's skin should be antimicrobial as it may have been touched by many people prior to purchase.

Babies crawling will have very high bacteria concentration bottoms and gloves.

Viral and bacterial infections are common and, as a new mum, you may find yourself getting sick with one. Besides being unwell, you now have the added worry of protecting your baby from your infection. Read on to find some useful ways to protect your baby.

Clothes of children's are exposed to germs most

whether on playground or in toilets etc.

The immune system is yet developing.

Hence antimicrobial clothes would provide an

additional security against germs to children.

As children are continuously on the move they

sweat a lot hence are highly prone to germs

attack. Antimicrobial clothes would surely keep

them odor and germs free all day.

Types of socks Why antimicrobial finish required

Baby clothes Babies are normally exposed to lot of germs during their daily routine The conditions fungi / germs like best are warm, moist and airless areas of skin, such as between the toes. Zycrobial prevents

formation of germs in key areas and help to keep Mom and child free from germs.

Women's

clothes The body of women is more sensitive than Men and require a special care. Other than sweat during every day chores where water is a

chief component , it is necessary to protect their body from germs. Anti microbial treated socks will a shield against all the possible

infections. Baby socks and

gloves Babies are not having fully developed immune system an this leads them to be more prone to attack from Microbes . They place foot and hand every where w/o much thinking, so they are exposed to a lot of microbes. In Winter season when the climate is dry and socks are primary components of baby wear , the dry skin is more prone to microbial attack, where anti microbial socks offer best protection

Kid’s clothes. Kids play w/o much thinking, whether it is muddy ground or pool of water on road. To protect them from microbes it is most essential to treat it with antimicrobial treatment.

Leaching type of antimicrobials chemically react with the microorganism

acting as a poison.

Triclosan

PHMB

Nano silver compounds

*

Non-leaching type of antimicrobials stay affixed to the textile and at

molecular level electrocutes and physically pierces the microorganism (lipoproteins anionic membrane cover).

Silane Quat

(19)

TRICLOSAN

• Inhibits growth by chemical action to penetrate & disrupt cell walls

indiscriminately in the environment. This leads to leakage of metabolites and disable cell function including reproduction .

ANTIMICROBIAL: LEACHING TYPE

• Used in personal care products (Dettol), soap, toothpaste and deodorants. • Used for over 25 Years.

• Lasts only one to two washes. Needs repetitive applications. • High recurring cost per wash cycle.

• Environmental problems – Generate very toxic Dioxin

(20)

PHMB - BIGUANIDE

• Binds microorganism to their cell membranes and disrupts the lipopolysaccharides

structures resulting in cell breakdown .

Zydex®

ANTIMICROBIAL: LEACHING TYPE

• Used in swimming pools, cosmetics, contact lens solutions and natural textiles. Less effective on Gram Positive Bacteria.

• Possible Carcinogen.

NANO SILVER COMPOUNDS

• Nano silver compounds are popular and widely used.

• Metal ions inhibits metabolism of the active enzyme centers.

• Used in food handling materials, medical devices, wound care products, industrial materials, textiles etc.

(21)

ANTIMICROBIAL : NON LEACHING TYPE

SILANE QUAT

Non-leachable & non-consumable (99.5%)

Absorbs & forms a polymer network in fiber matrix.

Bacterial cell membrane get ruptured when microbes come in contact with the treated surface.

Quaternary ammonium structure provides antimicrobial activities effective on almost all microbes and fungi.

Used in natural & synthetic fibers, internal hospital walls and garments.

Zycrobial molecules get attached to the

fiber surface by strong chemical interaction and Self condensation polymerization to

form interpenetrating network.

SELF CONDENSATION

Self Condensation of Silanol groups lead to formation of a 3D network around the surface which will not leach during washing & cleaning.

SURFACE BONDING MECHANISM

(24)

WORKING MECHANISM OF ZYCROBIAL

When a microbe comes in contact with the treated surface it is electrocuted due to the positively charged nitrogen of Zycrobial and the cell cover is physically ruptured by a knife-like action.

Zycrobial

*

Zycrobial treated fabric also eliminates the bad odor and maintains the freshness of the substrate for a long span of time.

*

Zycrobial, being based on non-leaching chemistry, drastically reduces the bacterial growth and ensures effective antimicrobial & antiodour effect on the textile substrates even after several washes and increases the life span of textile substrates.

*

Being a solvent free product, it is non-hazardous and eco friendly in nature which eliminates the side effects on user & environment.

*

It is also eco-friendly compared to Nano-silver based technology.

*

Though research is inconclusive, scientists have found evidence that Nano silver, once in the environment — most commonly in wastewater effluent — can potentially bio accumulate in organisms such as

earthworms, insects and fish. Studies also suggest that nanoparticles in soil can harm plants.

Zycrobial treated clothes would prevent the filthy smell

on usage of clothes by retarding the growth of microbe.

*

Also the greater exposure to hot and humid climatic

conditons in India which tend to cause higher

‘perspiration wetness’ because of poor moisture

transport properties..

*

Moreover, the current issues of skin disorders/infections

due to lack of hygiene has lead to huge opportunities

for anti-microbial and anti-odour finishing agents such

as ZYCROBIAL.
