HSE and emergency situations
The University of Bergen generally covers the employees when they are working, also on working trips. However, there are many exceptions, and we would strongly recommend that you:
3 1) Pay the travel with a UiB credit card. The application form for such a credit card can be
obtained from Mildred Selvik at the central Personnel Department,
[email protected] , and returned to her after filling it in. If the travel is paid by the credit card, you are covered by the card’s travel insurance. UiB pays the yearly fee for the card, but you pay the invoice from the card company yourself, and get reimbursed by the ordinary travel reimbursement forms/PagaWeb.
2) Have a personal travel insurance, and other insurances as well, to be sure that you are sufficiently covered
If an incident should occur, you can always contact the Head of Department, or Head of
Administration. All information about the Faculty’s Plan of Preparedness, which can be found here:
http://www.uib.no/matnat/55533/beredskapsplan-det-matematisk-naturvitenskapelige-fakultet (unfortunately in Norwegian only).
Safety delegates election
Safety delegates represent all employees in working environment matters. The safety delegates have a supervisory role, as well as being an important collaborator for the Line Management.
Safety delegates at UiB are divided into three levels:
- The University's chief Safety delegate - Safety delegates at faculties
- Local Safety delegates
UiB Safety delegates at all levels are elected for a period of 2 years. Current Safety delegates are elected for the period of 2013-2014. At the Department of informatics the current Safety delegate is Liljan Myhr, with Marta Lopez as deputy delegate. Liljan cannot be reelected, but Marta has accepted to take over as Safety delegate.
If you have other suggestions, please give them to Head of administration within Friday 31st October.
If no other suggestions are delivered within the deadline, Marta is elected as Safety delegate for the coming 2 years. If several persons would like to be Safety delegate, an electronical election will be held in November. Please notice that we would also be happy to receive suggestions for the deputy delegate.
Information about the administrative reorganization project at the Faculty
There has been a survey among the administrative employees, with a response percentage of more than 80. Many suggestions were given to the project group and subgroups, which will start their work this week. Scientific staff, technical staff and students will also be invited to give input to the process. The feedback from the administrative staff, and information about the project, can be found here: https://w3.uib.no/nb/auprosjektMN
The purpose of the project is to develop better administrative services at the MN-faculty, with a special focus on being close to the researchers and students. Competence, less vulnerable
4 organization and motivated employees are also important factors. Delegates from the Department of informatics are professor Kjell Jørgen Hole in the project group, study leader Mari Garaas Løchen in the study subgroup, and head of administration Anne Lien in the personnel subgroup. The Head of department Petter Bjørstad is in the strategy group. The Faculty Board will deal with the groups’
suggestions in March 2015.

Funding for a Service centre for foreign employees - SUA
A new Service centre for foreign employees has been funded by the State Budget. See the news here:
http://www.bt.no/nyheter/okonomi/--En-stralende-dag-for-Bergen-3214298.html
Changes in the person web pages at UiB
The person web pages have been moved to a new platform. The changes you would like to do to your person web page can be done here: http://w3.uib.no/nb/user , with your ordinary UiB login.
