Governor’s Message:
Summer is here and with it all the cookouts, parties, summer vacations and heat. Please be careful in whatever activities you are participating. As you are reading this the volunteers are working on the float for the 4th of July parade. I encourage you to support this and all the other functions any way you can. We are also getting the Moose Legion re-established in the lodge and I encourage the current Legionnaires to get in touch with me to help get this great organization back up and running.
MOOSE OF THE YEAR!
Please join us in congratulating Jeff Easton, who was named Moose of the Year for 2015.
Jeff joined the Moose Lodge in 2009. In 2015, Jeff signed 11 new members and volunteered to run our Monday Night Bingo.
On any given night during the week, you will find Jeff selling pull tickets which helps us defray the cost of Wednesday night entertainment and other Lodge activities. He also volunteers in the kitchen assisting with cooking on both Wing Night and Steak Night. Jeff has also served as a Trustee and is a member of the Moose Legionnaire.
We are lucky to have members, like Jeff, who volunteer their time and spread the word about our Lodge. When you see Jeff around the Lodge, please take time to thank him for all that he does.
On April 23, Supreme Governor Danny R.
Albert visited our Lodge. We presented him with a $5,000 check for Mooseheart and a
$5,000 check for Moosehaven.

Happy Birthday!
In 2015, Dale City Moose Lodge 2165 adopted Cub Scout Pack 289, who has been serving our community since the mid 1980s.
On June 19-21, in the pavilion and woods behind the lodge, we hosted
Pack 289's annual summer campout and Raingutter Regatta (a model sailboat race run by the kids' lung power). Additional activities included a reverent flag retirement ceremony, sleeping in tents, learning to cook outdoors, knot tying, knife safety, and more.
In addition to the boat race, Pack 289 bridged 47 elementary-school-aged children into their next year of the scouting program, welcoming six new rising first grade (Tiger) Scouts, two new second grade (Wolf) scouts, and one new third (Bear), fourth (Webelos) & fifth-grade (Arrow of Light) Scouts each. Scouts cooked, camped, sang, celebrated, and finally cleaned up the grounds to "Leave No Trace" that they were there.
Pack 289 has been very busy in the community, reflecting well on the Moose Lodge's sponsorship of them.
Additional things they've been doing or have planned:
Supported the Special Olympics at Hylton High School in May.
Attended Quantico National Cemetery's Flag Retirement Ceremony on Flag Day.
Attended and provided volunteers to the Occoquan District Cub Scout Day Camp at Leesylvania State Park June 22-26.
Marching in the Dale City Independence Day Parade on July 4.
Attending the Potomac Nationals Scout Night on July 18.
Preparing sandwiches to feed our homeless population in August.
Cub Scout Popcorn Sales are right around the corner. Be sure to support Pack 289. Supporting them helps also support U.S. Military troops.

From your Sr. Regent:
Looking Back: May and June were very busy around the Lodge. We had a successful Cinco de Mayo, followed by a wonderful Mother’s Day Steak dinner. Our first PaintNite Fundraiser was a HUGE success with many talented women and fun was had by all! And finally, we had a won- derful Father’s Day brunch for all dads. THANK YOU to all who made these events a success.
A big THANK YOU to our Jr. Governor, Dave Lamb, for assisting in getting our new rockwall installed on the playground.
Additional elections were held for Sr. Regent, Jr. Regent and Recorder.
Installation of those positions took place on June 4, 2015. Congratulations to Cynthia ‘Dusty’ Herrick, Sr. Regent; Arleen McGregor, Jr. Regent; and Cheryl Mezes Belcher as Recorder.
Looking Forward: July 4th is right around the corner! The trailer for our float was delivered on June 26th. THANK YOU Governor Norm Catterton!
Please see ad on page 5 for how you can help!
Soon we will be starting our annual backpack fundraiser to assist children in need in our schools. As always the WOTM members are highly encour- aged to attend meetings and social activities of the Chapter.
Watch Bulletin Boards for information on upcoming events and fundraising activities.
On May 16th, the WOTM sponsored a PaintNite.
They raised $750 for the Community Service Committee for Mooseheart.

It may be HOT outside, but the beer and sodas are cold inside, so come to the Lodge and join us. I would like to welcome our newest bartender, Jen Donohue.
I am very proud of our Moose Bikers Club -- we have 30 members.
Hopefully, we can get the Moose Legion up and running soon.
Congratulations to our 3 newest Moose Legionnaires – Norm Catterton, David Lamb and Bill Baker. Now if only we could get the Moose Fellowship Committee reactivated at Dale City. That would be wonderful!
Our new campaign year for May 1, 2015 – April 30, 2016, is “Moose – Build Our Foundation.” It focuses on growing our lodges and chapters – our foundation. At the end of last year’s membership campaign, Dale City Moose came in 35th in the Nation, 3rd in the State, and 1st in District 4, with 676 members. Great going members! This makes me very proud. Please continue the good work this year.
I am looking forward to attending the Moose International Convention in Nashville, Tennessee from July 2 through July 7, 2015. Nashville is promising us the best fireworks display in the Country! I wish you could all attend. I’m sure I’ll have lots to report when I return.
Have a wonderful summer and I’ll see you soon.
Welcome New Moose Members

The Moose Lodge was a proud sponsor of Trevor’s Treasures Annual Golf Tournament in June.
Trevor’s Treasures is a charity that serves families that are dealing with childhood cancer. It was started by
Trevor Blake who sadly lost his battle with cancer at the age of 11.

Have you noticed all of the updates going on around the Lodge lately? Our pavilion has gone through a renovation and is available for rentals. If you are interested in holding a
party or a special event using this prime location, please see Larry for details.
Fourth of July Parade!
Our Moose Lodge traditionally participates in the annual Dale City Fourth of July Parade. This year is no different. The parade will be held on Saturday, July 4th from 10:00 AM—2:00 PM. We are in the process of constructing our float for the parade and we could use some help!
Please stop by the Lodge this week and see Dusty to see what you can do. Work will be done on the float Wednesday July, 1st in the afternoon/evening. Dusty will be getting ready to go to Nationals and needs as many volunteers as possible. Let’s bring home a first place prize again this year!
