Kimbolton School Calendar
All Kimbolton School families receive a printed School Calendar each term. It is also possible to view the calendar on-line via the school website, and to download and import calendar events that are relevant to specific selected year groups into any compatible calendar applications such as Microsoft Outlook, Google Calendar.
Full instructions on how to view, download and import the calendar from the school website into your selected calendar application are outlined on the following pages.
PLEASE NOTE that in order to keep your calendar up to date you will need to watch out for calendar amendments published on the School website and Prep Newsletter, and either:
• manually update your own calendar, or
• delete or hide your calendar and download a new, updated version from the website.
Viewing the School Calendar On-line
• Open the School website
• Enter www.kimbolton.cambs.sch.uk/OnlineCalendar in the browser bar (or click on the ‘News & Calendar’ tab and select ‘Online Calendar’ in the left hand column) The calendar showing all events happening throughout the school in the week shown will open:
• To view events on other dates, click on the date required.
To customise the calendar and filter the events so you only see those relevant to your child’s / children’s year group(s):
• de-select year groups from both the Senior School and Prep School drop down lists so that only the year groups you require are selected (NB. The default is for all years at both Schools to be selected so you need to deselect unwanted year groups from both Schools)
• click on ‘Update Calendar Preferences’
Please note that you will see all events for each year group selected, e.g. girls’ and boys’ sports matches, CCF and CSU events.

Importing the School Calendar into your Phone/own
Calendar Application
To import all of the dates for your selected year groups into any compatible calendar application:
• open your selected calendar application (e.g. Outlook, Google Calendar)
• if necessary, delete the previous term’s calendar and then empty your Deleted Items or Trash folder
• return to the website calendar page and check that you have selected the year groups that you require
• click on the icon
• choose the Outlook / Google / iPhone etc. instructions to follow below:
Please note that the iCalendar file (.ics) is not compatible with older versions of
Microsoft Outlook (such as 2003) and that it may be necessary to upgrade to the current version for the calendar to fully download.
Depending on your browser, you will see a box similar to the one below that gives you the option to ‘Open’ or ‘Save’:
• select the ‘Open’ option
The calendar will automatically upload as a new ‘Kimbolton Calendar’ in Outlook.
• rename the calendar if you wish by right clicking on its name (it will have a unique suffix that you no longer need)
• If necessary, delete any events from your new calendar that are not required.
ALTERNATIVE INSTRUCTIONS FOR OUTLOOK:
If the above does not work:
• select ‘Save’ option
• click on ‘OK’ and chose the file location to download and save the iCalendar file (.ics) onto your pc
• in Outlook, click on the “File” menu item
• select “Import and Export”
• click on the “Import iCalendar or vCalendar file” and then “Next”
• locate the .ics file that you have downloaded from this website.
• click OK and the calendar will automatically upload as a new ‘Kimbolton Calendar’ in Outlook
• rename the calendar by right clicking on its name if you wish (it will have a unique suffix that you no longer need)
• if necessary, delete any events from your new outlook calendar that are not required.
Google will download the school events into your main Google Calendar. If you would like the events to be downloaded into a separate calendar, you must create a new calendar first:
• click on the arrow next to ‘My Calendars’
• select ‘Create new calendar’
• assign a name for your new calendar (e.g. School Summer Term)
• click on ‘Create calendar’ and your new calendar will appear in the ‘My Calendars’ list
• return to the School website page and follow the instructions below:

GOOGLE CALENDAR
• choose the file location to download and save the iCalendar file (.ics) onto your pc
• access your Google calendar
• click on the drop-down arrow next to “Other Calendars”
• select “Import calendar”
• click “Choose File” and find the .ics file you have downloaded and saved, and click “Open”.
• select the Google calendar you would like to import the new events to and click on “Import”
• if necessary, delete any events from your Google calendar that are not required.
• import the iCalendar (.ics) file to one of the calendar services that your device supports, i.e. Outlook / Google / Yahoo / AO
• set your device to sync with that service.

The default calendar application for some Android devices varies depending on the version and applications installed. Please consult your User Manual for further details, if necessary.
Consult your documentation / service support website and you will invariably find a solution for importing the calendar data to your device/service.
