Proxy Server Configuration

Geosoft applications have options for entering proxy server settings to assist connecting to external resources, such as the Geosoft Public DAP Server and Geosoft License Server. Our applications communicate using the HTTP protocol with DAP Servers and the Geosoft License Server. Please use the information below as a guide to configuring proxy settings in the Geosoft applications/plug-ins.

The following instructional steps depend on the application(s) installed on your computer. Please follow the relevant configuration steps per application. Please note that Internet Explorer proxy settings and the GX proxy settings must both be configured for successful access to local and public DAP Servers.

Internet Explorer Proxy Configuration

Verify Internet Options settings. Depending on client proxy configuration, either ‘Automatically detect settings’, ‘Use automatic configuration script’ or ‘Proxy server’ settings will be checked. Usually only one of the three will be enabled. If the Proxy server setting is checked, verify and note the Address and Port information.

If you need to configure Internet Explorer to use a Proxy Server, then following these steps. 1. Click on Tools > Internet options > Connections tab > LAN Settings.

2. Select Use a proxy server for your LAN in the Proxy Server section.

If necessary, consult with local IT personnel and enter your proxy address and port. 3. Select Bypass proxy server for local addresses and select OK.

4. Restart Internet Explorer.

Oasis montaj / Target Proxy Configuration

1. In Oasis montaj, select GX > Global Settings > Advanced…. 2. Select Internet Settings.

False: By choosing this option, you are indicating that you do not use a proxy server. True: By choosing this option, you will be required to explicitly enter the Proxy Address and

Proxy Port in order for this configuration to work.

4. For the Use Windows Proxy, you have two choices: True, False.

True: By choosing this option, the application will use the proxy settings that are currently set

in your Internet Explorer Options on your computer.

False: By choosing this option, you are indicating that you will not use Internet Explorer

Options proxy settings for Geosoft applications. 5. Click OK.

Geosoft Plug-in for ArcGIS Proxy Configuration

1. Select View > Toolbars > Geosoft Plug-in.

2. Once your Geosoft Plug-in is enabled click on Geosoft Setup > Advanced Settings. 3. Follow steps 3 to 5 from the Oasis montaj / Target Proxy Configuration section above.

Target for ArcGIS Proxy Configuration

1. Run ArcMap.

2. Make sure Geosoft Extensions Setup and Seeker tool bar is enabled (View > Toolbars > Geosoft

Extensions Setup and Seeker).

3. Once your Geosoft Plug-in is enabled click on Geosoft Setup > Advanced Settings. 4. Follow steps 3 to 5 from the Oasis montaj / Target Proxy Configuration section above.

Geosoft Plug-in for MapInfo Configuration

1. Run MapInfo.

2. In the menu bar click on Geosoft > Settings.

3. Follow steps 3 to 5 from the Oasis montaj / Target Proxy Configuration section above.

Exclusion List Configuration (Optional)

Setting the Proxy Exclusion List option is necessary when the Bypass proxy server for local addresses is disabled in Internet Explorer Internet Options, such as when the Automatically detect or Use

automatic configuration script are required for Internet Explorer proxy configuration on the client. In Oasis montaj or Target, go to GX > Global Settings > Advanced… and select Internet Settings. In MapInfo with the Geosoft Plug in for MapInfo installed, go to Geosoft > Settings… and select Internet

In ArcMap with the Geosoft Extensions for ArcGIS or Geosoft Plug in for ArcGIS installed, go to Geosoft

Setup > Advanced Settings and select Internet Settings.

Proxy Server Configuration Use Windows Stack (Optional) |

1. Click on Internet Settings for each application above.

2. Enter the local (internal) DAP Server name or IP Address in the Proxy Exclusion List, use the same value that is used to add the local DAP Server in Seeker.

3. Click OK.

Use Windows Stack (Optional)

Setting the Use Windows Stack option is necessary when the network is operating under a Blue Coat proxy server in both transparent and explicit mode.

In Oasis montaj or Target, go to GX > Global Settings > Advanced… and select Internet Settings. In the Geosoft Plug in for MapInfo, go to Geosoft > Settings… and select Internet Settings.

In ArcMap with the Geosoft Extensions for ArcGIS or Geosoft Plug in for ArcGIS installed, go to Geosoft

Setup > Advanced Settings and select Internet Settings.

1. Click on Internet Settings for each application above. 2. Change Use Windows Stack from False to True. 3. Click OK.
