Shukra (Venus) represents reproduction (literally semen). Venus indicates everything that is directly and indirectly related to human reproduction: marriage, sex, harmony, comforts, luxury, pleasures, and beauty. The condition of Venus in the horoscope will define one's ability to experience
harmonious and romantic relationships, and the level on which one deals with sensory experiences. Venus is the significator for `shukla' or `semen' and in that sense indicates the male fecundity factor. The Moon and Venus are usually more fixed or passive, preferring to yield or to endure.
Venus :—He is strong also in the 3rd, 6th and 12th houses from the Ascendant, when retrograde, when in front of the Sun, in the afternoon, when posited to the North of planets and in the middle of Signs. He is strong when conjoined with the Moon. He is weak in the beginning of a Rasi and of moderate strength at its end.
Venus/Shukra is a benefic because she provides all comforts, pleasures and luxuries, social grace, giving refinement, and specially, teaches the diplomacy necessary for dealing with others. Venus – Mercury and Saturn are friends, Sun and Moon are enemies, Mars and Jupiter are neutral
Venus – Taurus and Libra are own houses. Pisces is exalted house. 27th degree of Pisces is deep exaltation. Virgo is debilitated house. 27th degree of Virgo is deep debilitation. Moolatrikona Libra 0 to 15 degrees.
Venus :Venus signifies water element. Venus is exalted in Pisces. The degree of exaltation is 27 degrees. Pisces is a dual sign with water element. Unlike, Moon in Scorpio when there is excess water which is stagnated in fixed sign, the excess water element with Venus in Pisces is free flowing in dual sign. Venus in Pisces signifies infinite love and our infinite appreciation of beauty and passion. Venus exalted in our chart signifies our aspiration to beauty and truth through which we can realize the power of infinite love beyond our senses and pleasure that is the love of God or realization of the God within ourselves. Venus gets debilitated in Virgo which is also dual sign with earth element. This earth element of debilitated Venus limits us to the pleasure of our senses only.
Debilitated Venus completely deprives our capacity to feel content and to become happy in life. She makes us vain, superficial and affected and turn us into a machine to seek sensual pleasure and luxury. Debilitated Venus signifies the pleasure that dissipates, exhausts and debilitates, the self indulgence which can ultimately leads to our destruction.
The native born with debilitated Venus is licentious, unscrupulous, unhappy, loquacious, petty minded, agile and an illicit love affair.
During the sub-periods of debilitated Venus, one faces loss of comforts. One's wife suffers from ill-health. In the case of females they suffer from urinary infections, malfunctioning of uterus and fallopian tubes. One becomes vulnerable to skin problems, eye-diseases and renal problems if debilitated Venus is severely afflicted by Rahu/Ketu or the most malefic planet.
A strong Venus when afflicted may be capable of producing a famous model or cine artist but may, simultaneously, give loose moral character to a nativity.
If Venus is afflicted the person will not look very happily at the prospect of relationships, i.e. Venus joined Sun, Mars, Saturn, Rahu and Ketu can show: Ego, Anger, Sorrow, Shock and Headlessness as problems in relationships respectively. The more of these afflicting the same, the worse the situation, but this is attributed to the self and is a result of being in experiences with other people, but not necessarily caused by other people.
Venus Positive
An exalted Venus is extremely favourable. It shall also be favourable if it is in its own sign, or in an angle or triangle. The individual will attain a high position. He will acquire vehicles and wealth. He will get delicious food. He will enjoy music and dance. When Venus is in its mooltrikona sign similar good results are expected. The individual will get married. If he is already married, he will have a pleasant life with his wife and children. There will be a lot of entertaining at his place. Others will also continuously entertain him. When the planet is so placed, the individual may recover in this period his lost wealth and position. He will be happy in life with women, and due to enhanced income and accumulating wealth. He may go overseas on pleasure trips. He will succeed at business of luxury or fashionable goods. He will lead a luxurious life.
Negative
Venus in one of the houses of the Adverse Trio or in debilitation and associated with a malefic planet or under its damaging aspect will make the individual fall out with his relatives and friends. There may be separation from these relatives and friends. Married life will usually be the first casualty. Relations may sour or the wife or his children may keep sick all the time. There will be losses in
business. The individual may suffer from kidney trouble or disease in the sex organs, urinary system, or the prostate. If the individual is unmarried, marriage will be a difficult proposition during this period. If Venus is the owner of the II or VII house, the individual may not keep good health. When Venus is unfavourable, there will be sickness to wife and other female relations, destruction of clothes and decrease of general prosperity; sorrow caused by love, hatred towards Government servants and low born people come by turns, quadrupeds die in numbers, and silverware is lost. When Venus is favourable, there will be gain of silver utensils, fine clothes, ornaments, diamonds, underground treasures, marriage, gain of money, increase in taste for music, and access to cattle and luxurious food.
A retrograde Venus in a horoscope usually signifies changes on the emotional front. Men with a retrograde Venus in their horoscope are usually more sensitive and possessive towards their love relations and it is comparatively difficult for them to let go of a girlfriend or a lover. Such men take a long time to recover from a setback in their love life. If the other factors are good in their horoscope, the men with a retrograde Venus can prove to be more devoted lovers provided their partners can deal with their habit of being possessive and sensitive. A retrograde Venus in case of women generally indicates aggression mixed with possessiveness when it comes to their love life. Such women usually like to control their love life and they are not comfortable letting go of their partner easily and depending upon the other factors in their horoscope, such women can be very revengeful at times. So be careful in case of women with a retrograde Venus in their horoscope as they can prove to be a one way entry in love life which means that once you get into a relation with these women, it is very difficult to get out of it without facing a big drama. A retrograde Venus usually works very much in the similar way as a forward moving Venus regarding rest of its significations except for the deviations mentioned above.
Venus is said to be combust when it comes within 10 degrees on either side of the Sun, provided Venus is in forward motion. When Venus is in Retrograde motion, the degree of closeness for combustion of Venus becomes 8 degrees.
Combust Venus denies a happy married life.
Yet combust Venus gives rise to artistic pursuits, medical education and the like. President
Heidenburg and Annie Besant had combust Venus. This conjunction is not favourable for marriage. Venus Combust: When Venus is combust the native is unable to exhibit the healthy pride necessary for diplomacy. Diplomacy is the tool of healthy pride that respects others as well as the self. Combust Venus indicates poor diplomatic abilities, the result of vulnerable pride. They therefore suffer abuse on account of other’s behavior towards them which results in anger and frustration. Another consideration when Venus is combust is that the native experiences feelings of vulnerability when expressing love and affection. The self is identified with the function of expressing love and affection to the degree that if their affection is not received and validated fully they feel rejected. This may make an individual seem rigid or indifferent in expressing love and affection. In essence, when Venus is combust the native is angry because they are not getting the love and attention they desire. This tendency is generally developed when the native, as a child, either gave a hug or said, “I love you” to the father, or another, without having the affection or words returned, either because the parent was busy or did not have the capacity to do so.
A combust Venus requires the native to recite the Mṛtyunjaya mantra.

Venus is a great tapasvi, and he rules the desire, which goads us to learn. Thus whenever Venus is associated with Saturn (hard work and patience) and Ketu (Mokshakaraka), the native becomes a Tapasvi (someone who undertakes severe austerity and penances to attain siddhi). As opposed to Jupiter, who rules para vidya (knowledge which is used irrespective of whether we are born or not), Venus rules apara vidya (knowledge which is used in this mortal world). Thus Venus signify practical strategies, which help in solving real life problems.

He is the supreme teacher of the ‘yoga' After doing a tremendous penance he had pleased lord Shiva and received the ‘learning' of ‘ Mritasanjivani ' (bringing alive a dead person). By the help of this learning he used to bring back to life the demons that got killed in the battles with the deities. (Mahabharat, Adiparva 76/8)
According to the Matsyapuran, Shukracharya performed such a severe austerity and penance for the benediction of the demons which was incomparable and which has not been performed by anybody till date. Lord Shiva became pleased and blessed him with a boon that he would defeat the deities in the battle and also that nobody would be able to kill him. Lord Shiva also made him the secretary of all the wealth as a result he became the lord of all the wealth of all the worlds.
According to the Mahabharat (AdiParva (78/39) Shukracharya was not only the lord of wealth but he is also the master of the medicinal herbs, the mantras and all kinds of taste. Mythology: In Indian mythology Shiva became sexually aroused by the sight of Mohini Rupa
(attractive seductive form), this seductive vision was created to make Shiva's semen flow downward to begin the human creation. Shukra means semen. In Greek mythology Venus (Aphrodite) rose out of the sea foam that emerged after Saturn (Cronus) castrated his father Ouranus (Uranus) the sky god. Aphrodite means, "born of the sea foam." Venus in Indian myth was the leader of the Asuras (demons). They possessed the secret of immortality, which releases one from the cycle of incarnations.
Shukra: Venus was the master and teacher of the demons. The demons harrassed the gods greatly and during one such war, Venus angered Lord Shiva while using his powers to revive demons that
had perished. Shiva captured and swallowed Venus in order to turn the tides of the war. Venus wandered and meditated in Shiva's stomach for 1,000 years. When Shiva ejected Venus back into the world, Venus immediately paid obeisance to Shiva without delay. This so impressed Shiva that he granted Venus the status of planet.
Mythology: Shukracharya is the son of Sage Bhrigu. He is the preceptor of the demons. Shukra was the only one considered worthy of being granted the knowledge of MritaSanjivani vidya by Lord Shiva. This knowledge is supposed to bring back even dead to life.
Venus is considered as Goddess of love, marriage, beauty and comforts. It is a form of Maha
Lakshmi, the wife of lord Vishnu. Venus rules over the Yajurveda and the Vasant Ritu(April and May). According to western astrology Venus is known as Lucifer and Hebrews named it as Astoreth. Myth: Venus was the master and teacher of the demons. The demons harassed the gods greatly and during one such war, Venus angered Lord Shiva while using his powers to revive demons that had perished. Shiva captured and swallowed Venus in order to turn the tides of the war. Venus wandered and meditated in Shiva's stomach for 1,000 years. When Shiva ejected Venus back into the world, Venus immediately paid obeisance to Shiva without delay. This so impressed Shiva that he granted Venus the status of planet.
story In Vedic myth Venus, or Sukra, is known as the Guru, or teacher of the asuras, or one of the two camps of the Vedic deities. Sukra therefore is a Brahmin, or of the highest priestly order, and is considered the forefather of the Brig lineage of sages from ancient India. In Vedic myth the asuras are the demonic aspect of the divine and, like many of the ancient creation myths, are locked in eternal battle with the devas, the auspicious aspect of the Divine. In one episodic myth the devas are particularly concerned in their battle with asuras because Venus knows the mantra of immortality to raise the dead. This of course gave the asuras an unfair advantage in their battle with the devas. So Jupiter, or Brihaspati, the guru to the devas, sends his son Kaca (brightness) to study under Sukra. Well, you will not be surprised to find that Sukra has a beautiful daughter Devayani (way to the gods), and she is quite taken with Kaca. Now, the asuras know what Kaca is up to, so like all good demons they kill him. Devayani, of course, grieves for him and tells dad, so Sukra repeats the mantra and Kaca comes back to life. Then the demons kill Kaca again. Once again Devayani complains, and once again Sukra repeats the mantra and Kaca come back to life. Undeterred, the demons go about killing Kaca and Sukra keeps resurrecting him. So the demons get a particularly demonic idea and this time they kill Kaca and grind him up into a fine powder and put him in Sukra's wine. Sukra drinks the wine, Devayani begins her grieving, and in response Sukra repeats the mantra, but this time he has a stomach ache as Kaca speaks from inside him! Well, at last the demons appear to be happy. But, they ironically bring about the very thing they were trying to prevent, for Sukra reveals the mantra of immortality to Kaca, so when Kaca tears himself out of Sukra's body he will repeat the mantra and raise Sukra from the dead. In the end every one is happy but the demons. This myth explains why all Brahmins committed to spiritual life are not allowed to drink wine, and one of the epithets of Venus is: the one who "produces stomach problems"!
Sukra is also known as Bhargava, and is a son of the sage Bhrigu. He is famous as Sukracharya, the guru of the Daityas and Danavas (demons). In Siva Purana, the following story is told;
Once upon a time Bhargava desired to do penance to Siva, and so went to Varanasi (modern Kasi) and installed the Siva Lingam. Assiduously he worshipped that form, performing a hundred thousand ablutions with pancamrta, and offering all auspicious substances with great care and devotion. He eulogised Siva with hymns, chanted the Sahasranam (thousand names), sung of Siva's glory, danced, and made offerings in various ways for a great many years. When after some time he did not see the
Lord, he performed still further and more rigorous worship, and engaged himself in unbearable penance and restraints. 'He washed the dirt of fickleness from his mind and senses by the waters of pure conception.' He drank the smoke of powdered husks and bits of grain, and thus spent another inordinately long time.
On seeing Bhargava's installation and adoration of the Linga, his severe penance and devotion, Lord Siva, the least inclined to grant boons, became delighted, and appeared in person. Bhargava desired to become Siva's son and Siva, knowing this, spoke the following; "With this body you shall be born as My son. Further, I give you now a mantra which I have kept away even from Visnu and Brahma. With this secret Mrtasanjivani lore you will be able to revive the dead, bringing them back from Yama's abode. And due to your extreme devotion, I give you the status of a planet. Anyone who makes a journey in your direction will see their work perish by your powerful rays, and any virtuous act performed while you are rising shall meet with success". Siva then vanished, and Bhargava, happy with his boon, returned home.
Some time later, a demon by the name of Andhaka, who had received boons from Brahma was creating havoc in the universe. It just so happened that, by way of divine sport, Siva was staying in a cave near to Andhaka's city in the guise of an ascetic, together with Parvati, who had not assumed such dress, but was bedecked with all the fine silks, jewels, perfumes and accompanying
paraphernalia as befitted a sophisticated and cultured goddess. Two of Andhaka's ministers happened, coincidentally, to pass by the cave and could not help but notice the Divine Couple, and rushed off to tell their king. On hearing of this, and being told of the unequalled beauty of Parvati as opposed to the stark bareness of Her surroundings and the ugliness of Her companion, Andhaka entertained amorous thoughts and desired Parvati for himself. He sent a messenger to the cave, informing Siva of his intention, but Siva only laughed and challenged him to fight. A war ensued between the ganas of Siva and the army of demons, wherein the demons were annihilated. Andhaka, seeing all his forces dead, surreptitiously approached his guru, Bhargava. He was a clever politician, and mentioning the 'pride of the Danava race' and various other sentiments he convinced Bhargava that it was time to use all means at his disposal to revive his slain army. Though Bhargava had doubts about using mantras given by Siva to revive the enemies of Siva, he was, as it were, driven by destiny and finally agreed. Over the bodies of each demon he recited the mantra, whereupon they awoke, as if from sleep.
The army of Siva were somewhat surprised to find, in the course of their victory celebrations, another host of demons, armed and ready for war. They again did battle, slew the army, but Bhargava kept reviving them. The leading ganas, Nandin and others realised that they were in trouble here, and decided to inform Siva of what was going on. "Oh lord," spoke Nandin, "how are we expected to gain victory, when the guru of the demons playfully resuscitates those slain by us?" On hearing that Bhargava was using the mantra given by Him, He laughed, and told Nandin "Go quickly and seize that great brahmin from the midst of the Daityas, and bring him here." Thus ordered by Siva, Nandin, taking advantage of every type of military distraction entered the army of daityas, and snatched Bhargava, though he was well guarded, and finally managed to get away. He dropped Bhargava in front of Siva, who accepted him, like a present from a devotee, and quietly swallowed him.
Having had their preceptor snatched from their midst, the danava army lost its lustre, and no longer had the will and enthusiasm for fighting. They were thoroughly routed. Meanwhile, Sukra wandered around inside Siva's stomach. There he saw all the worlds, and all the universe, he saw the battle between the demons and the ganas, but he saw no way out. So he sat down and began to pray to
Siva, eulogising with appropriate hymns, whereupon Siva withdrew his delusion, and Sukra saw a way out - through Siva's penis, and came out in the form of semen. Siva found this highly amusing, as did Parvati who said that as he was born of Siva's semen he would be known henceforth as Sukra, and She adopted him as Her son. Thus Sukra became the son, while in his original body, of Siva and Parvati.
He was blessed, and allowed to leave, and the Purana finishes the story very poetically. 'After eulogising Siva and bowing to Him, Sukra took leave of Siva and entered the army of the Danavas, as the full moon does a cluster of clouds.'
Sukra is honest and powerful, a great brahmin and highly devoted to Siva. He uses his knowledge to help the Asuras, and as the Asuras are chiefly concerned with the fulfilment of material desires and the gratification of the senses, a well placed Venus will afford just that.
Gods: Aphrodite is the Greek equivalent to the Latin god of love Venus.. Freja is the ancient Nordic mythological goddess.
Spiritual/Mythological shades of Venus or Shukra
The brightest celestial body of the sky is known as the potent sage Shukra who is known as the healer of death for his possession of divine power of immortality.
As in the words of Hindu Mythologies, Shukra is the son of sage Bhrigu who being wise and acquirer of all wisdom, taught his son all of spiritual and vedic sciences and studies. Later, on account of his enmity with Brahaspati that is Jupiter, Shukra went towards demons and evil beings to teach them immorality and way to win over the gods and pure souls of heaven. He is vividly known as the “Guru of Asuras” while his image Venus is known as the “mantra of immortality”.
Mythological Story or katha of Venus or Shukra
Sukra has a beautiful daughter Devayani (way to the gods), and she is quite taken with Kaca. Now, the Asuras know what Kaca is up to, so like all good demons they kill him. Devayani, of course, grieves for him and tells father, so Sukra repeats the mantra and Kaca comes back to life. Sukra drinks the wine, Devayani begins her grieving, and in response Sukra repeats the mantra, but this time he has a stomachache as Kaca speaks from inside him. At last the demons appear to be happy.
But, they ironically bring about the very thing they were trying to prevent, for Sukra reveals the mantra of immortality to Kaca, so when Kaca tears himself out of Sukra's body he will repeat the mantra and raise Sukra from the dead. This myth explains why all Brahmins committed to spiritual life are not allowed to drink wine, and one of the epithets of Venus is: the one who "produces stomach problems".

Venus : Venus is a planet of sex, love and beauty. It is a poet, dancer, singer, wife, actor or driver. It represents luxury, vehicles, kidney, silver, diamond, south-east direction and white colour.
Shukra: Venus represents the harmony and beauty of life that helps us enjoy everything else. The condition of Venus in the chart reveals how connected we are with the perfectly harmonious and beautiful nature of consciousness, which maintains complete balance of life extremes in perfect symmetry and grace. A well placed Venus will make the person want to see that beauty and grace everywhere, sustain it, spread it, create it. For such a person, intimate relations are a natural extension of what they perceive as their spiritual essence, and enjoyment is effortless. When Venus is not well placed, the person will need to learn how to let harmony be present, and how to
appreciate and create balance. They can only experience love and healthy intimacy in certain situations, or at certain times, and need to invest energy in expanding those
boundaries.
Shukra, Venus - Think about its light, its movements: the star of Venus, called the evening star, is the most beautiful and the brightest among the stars. Its white light is so bright that it can be seen even in daylight, in the morning or evening. Drawing a symbolic link with the qualities of Venus, we can describe the nature of the mental energy called Shukra Graha (or the inner Venus). Venus softens and attracts. That is the reason why we say that Venus is a "beneficial" planet. By analogy in the mental realm, Shukra is friendly and sociable. His temperament is flexible and charitable. He needs to be appreciated and to feel loved. He is very sensitive to beauty, including his own: he likes to be beautiful. He likes pretty things in general and cannot put up with vulgarity. He is sensual and very romantic.
Venus – The higher Venus is Divine Love and devotion through surrender, the lower Venus is
hedonism and over indulgence in sensory pleasures. Much of our human life is learning to transmute our physical desires, from the animal (sensory pleasure) to the human (human love) to the God (Spiritual devotion). Venus is key to this transformation as she rules all three of these important qualities of life. Her Sanskrit name means “sperm”, as it is she who shows how much vitality we will ultimately have. In truth we all want the same thing in life, which is to be happy. Venus is the planet that gives us happiness, but maturity with Venus is learning to find happiness in the things that replenish our energy, not drain it. The main issue with Venus is how high of a price we are willing to pay for our happiness. Part of this discipline is learning to think of the needs of others, thus the first lesson of Venus is to respect and value others needs as much as our own. A strong Venus will not pay too high of a price for happiness and thus not leave our selves and others feeling devalued
through the selfish pursuit of our desires. From this point of selflessness a deeper devotion to God emerges.
