Transfer Scholarship

Information

Scholarship assistance for

transfer graduates is available

at many four-year colleges

and universities. Over the

years, Monroe Community

College graduates have

received academic scholarships

in excess of a half-million

dollars. The awards usually

provide for partial tuition

assistance, although full tuition

scholarships may also be

granted.

While documented financial

need frequently is a criterion for

maximum awards, early contact

with the transfer college is

most important.

This guide provides a partial

listing of the four-year colleges

offering transfer scholarships.

For additional information

regarding these awards and

other transfer scholarship

options, contact the specific

four-year college Financial Aid

or Admissions Office.

Please note: All efforts are

made to ensure that the

information included in this

guide is accurate. However,

the information is subject to

change. Please check with the

four-year college or university

for the most up-to-date

scholarship material.

Financial Need:

Various merit-based, need-based, and combined merit and need-based

scholarships are available at four-year colleges. In most instances, an

applicant is required to complete a Free Application for Federal Student

Aid (FAFSA). This form is accessible at www.fafsa.ed.gov.

Deadline Dates

Deadline dates for scholarship consideration may vary. Early inquiry and

application to the four-year college are recommended.

Specialized Awards

In addition to traditional transfer scholarships, specialized scholarships are

frequently available. These scholarships are limited to specific major fields

of study (e.g. education, business, engineering, liberal arts majors, etc.) or

specific student populations.

For additional information regarding these awards and other transfer

scholarship options, contact the specific four-year college you are

interested in attending. Scholarship information is most often located on

the four-year college’s financial aid or admissions webpage.

Private Scholarship

Search Tips

It is never too early to begin

your scholarship search.

Scholarships and grants

often require letters of

recommendation, transcripts,

essays, etc. This may mean

getting to know your

professors for those letters

of recommendations and/

or require you to prepare by

writing a few goal-oriented

essays in advance. Pay special

attention to deadlines.

Applying for scholarships

and grants does not cost you

anything beyond your time

and the cost of postage. If you

are seeking financial assistance

to complete your education

you should apply to as many

scholarships and grants as you

can without impacting the

quality of your applications.

• File a Free Application for

Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)

every year

• The FAFSA website includes

filing dates and other

important information

• Most colleges and universities

utilize FAFSA information

to determine additional aid

and scholarships you may

be eligible for as a transfer

student

• You have the right to accept

or decline financial aid
