Responsible investing
We strongly believe that companies with robust environmental and social practices will enjoy long-term financial benefits. We therefore seek to encourage such practices with a view to protecting and enhancing investments held on behalf of our clients. Head of Responsible Investment Amanda Young can discuss with you the principles of responsible
investment, its impact on investment decisions and the benefits for your clients.

He can also provide an understanding of the respective responsibilities of providers, manufacturers and distributors.
Robert has over 19 years’ compliance experience within the financial services industry. His expertise includes:

Client data/database management
Client data is only useful if you can extract meaning from it. This is where a good database/CRM system can bring real advantages in terms of understanding clients and creating efficiency in communicating in a timely manner. A proficient CRM system can also aid the marketing of your firm while providing a robust audit trail of activities that can be utilised in the future.
Our Head of Wholesale Sales Michael Beveridge has been instrumental in driving the development of our own database/CRM system to ensure that we provide comprehensive client service. Michael has extensive experience in the UK wholesale market having joined Standard Life in 1995 and Standard Life Investments in 2001. In his role, he manages a strong team that provides information on our investment products alongside building long-term relationships with our clients. Michael is therefore acutely aware of the value that client data provides and can impart his knowledge and expertise.
Press relations
At Standard Life Investments, we aim to be effective when dealing with the media and create powerful, meaningful communications for broadcast that enhances our reputation as a leading global asset manager. Head of Global Communications Joanne Bradley can host discussions on preparing for media engagement, delivering effective messages and obtaining the maximum benefit from your media contact.

Asset class training
Face-to-face training with our investment specialists
In the wake of the RDR, the demand for investment knowledge has grown significantly. At the same time, the range of investment products and techniques becomes ever more sophisticated. If intermediaries are to continue to meet the demands of their clients – and respond to the challenging investment conditions likely to be with us for some time to come – a clear understanding of the intricacies of each asset class is essential.
With this in mind, Standard Life Investments has designed a number of face-to-face workshops that address the critical components of investing in a given asset class. For example, two of our longest running workshops cover fixed income and absolute return investing. Many intermediaries and wealth managers have found these to be an ideal form of CPD. These courses are open to all levels of staff and are free of charge.
Workshop No. of CPD hours
Absolute Return 7
Global Absolute Return Strategies 3.5
Fixed Income 3.5
Emerging Market Debt 3.5
For some firms, our workshops represent a complementary offering to their own in-house training programmes. They provide the opportunity to develop a consistent approach to investment recommendations and can also help to achieve efficiency gains.
Audience-response technology
The interactive element of our workshops has been very popular with delegates, helping them to stay engaged in what some might regard as highly technical course material. Through a remote wireless device, they are able to respond to questions asked by the presenter. Responses are captured instantly and can be shown back to the group. This, in turn, provides an audit trail, which can be used by the delegate’s employer for compliance purposes.
