NOTES OF THE NIGHT

Tonight’s game is the sixth of 18 games over 34 days to wrap up the season for the Flyers. On Sunday, the Flyers completed a stretch

of five games in the past seven days. The Flyers have been off the last two days and now only have two occasions over the rest of the

season where they have two days off between games. Otherwise, they are playing back-to-back or every other night.

The Flyers recalled D Oliver Lauridsen from the Phantoms on Friday and he made his NHL debut vs. Boston on Saturday. He became

the eighth native of Denmark ever to play in the NHL, and the first for the Flyers. Laurisden was selected by the Flyers in the seventh

round (196th overall) of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft and joined the Phantoms at the end of the 2010-11 season following the completion

of his junior career at St. Cloud State University. He has one goal and five assists for six points in 59 games, along with 77 penalty

minutes, with Adirondack this season.

Jake Voracek has points in 13 of his last 20 games, recording 11 goals and 14 assists for 25 points in that stretch. His 14 goals in 34

games are just four short of the career-high 18 that he scored in 78 games last season. He also recorded his 10th multi-point game in

his 32nd’ game of the year; last year, Voracek had 12 multi-point games over his 78 games played. \

Voracek has eight power play goals this season, which is third most in the league.

Zac Rinaldo has 141 hits over the season after recording 19 hits over the Flyers’ last two games. Also, Luke Schenn has 133 hits on

the season. Both are in the league’s top five. The Flyers have never had a player record more than 196 hits in a full season (Darroll

Powe, 2010-11) since the NHL started tracking the statistic full-time. Rinaldo and Schenn are both currently on pace to reach over 190

hits even in this shortened season.

Claude Giroux has taken 893 faceoffs this season, which is 42.3 percent of the Flyers’ team faceoffs this season. Both numbers lead

the league. Giroux is 54.1% on faceoffs this year and has been 50% or better in 25 of the Flyers’ 35 games.

Giroux has 19 of his 35 points this season on the power play (5G, 13A), which ties him for second in the league in that category.

Ilya Bryzgalov is third in the NHL in minutes played with 1899:31. He joins Evgeni Nabokov of NYI as the only two goaltenders

responsible for all of their team’s wins this season. Bryzgalov has started 33 of the Flyers’ 35 games and has played the entire game

(11)

in 30 of those 33 starts. He recorded his 30th career shutout Feb. 18 at NYI; it came in his 400th career NHL game. He also recorded

his 200th career win March 2 vs. Ottawa.

The Flyers come into tonight’s game with the league’s best power play percentage at 24.8 percent. The following is a breakdown of

the Flyers’ special teams in wins and losses this year:

20 losses (17 reg, 3 SOL):

PP: 14-for-72 (19.4 pct)

PK: 61-for-78 (78.2 pct)

15 wins:

PP: 19-for-61 (31.1 pct)

PK: 59-for-65 (90.7 pct)

The Flyers have scored 10 goals in the first minute of regulation periods this season, the most recent coming when Claude Giroux

posted a goal 17 seconds into the second period of Sunday’s win over Buffalo. Giroux has four of the Flyers’ 10 first-minute goals this

year.

The Flyers have taken 205 overall penalties this season, which leads the league, and have the second-most minors in the league at

164 (excluding bench minors).

The Flyers have scored 37 first-period goals this season, which is third-most in the league; however, they have scored 25 third-period

goals, which is tied for third-fewest of any NHL team. Meanwhile, they have allowed 38 first-period goals, which is third-most on the

circuit.

Peter Laviolette is in his fourth season as the head coach of the Flyers. During the 2010-2011 season, Laviolette led the Flyers to a 47-23-12

regular season record, an Atlantic Division championship and their fourth consecutive appearance in the Stanley Cup Playoffs. The 47 wins

were the most by a Flyers team in 25 years, since the 1985-86 team won 53 games.

Laviolette was named the 17th head coach in Flyers history on Dec. 4, 2009. Over the final 57 games of the season, Laviolette coached the

Flyers to a 28-24-5 record. He then led the club on a remarkable playoff run, picking up series wins over New Jersey (4-1), Boston (4-3) and

Montreal (4-2) on the way to the eighth Stanley Cup Final appearance in Flyers history.

Laviolette has also coached the New York Islanders and the Carolina Hurricanes, where he won a Stanley Cup in 2006. Additionally, he was

the head coach of Team USA at the 2006 Olympics in Torino, and won the 1999 Calder Cup as head coach of the AHL’s Providence Bruins.
