We are off to a wonderful start for the new school
year! Our students are bustling around with smiles
on their faces and have adjusted very well to their
new classes. The staff of The Harbor is doing an
outstanding job instituting all of their new teaching
techniques to make their classes as real to life as
possible. Our goal is to continue to nurture our
students and train them to be lifelong learners who
care about others and their surroundings. To help
us achieve this, we are fortunate to have our
won-derful Parent Teacher Student Association (PTSA)
and School Advisory Council (SAC) as well as many community and business partners.
Palm Harbor Middle just received the state of Florida’s Golden School Award for the
leadership and support rendered to the School Volunteer Program.
Thank you to our parents and guardians who are driving cautiously on our school
grounds. Our traffic pattern has changed. When exiting the campus on 19th Street,
drivers are only to make a right hand turn. Moreover, please do not ask students to
cross Tampa Road, or 19th Street to get into the car. Please be patient and pick up
your child in the parent car loop. It may take a few more minutes to get home, but this
assures our student’s and driver’s safety.
In the weeks ahead, our PTSA will be conducting their fall fundraisers. Special thanks
in advance for all of the families that support our wonderful PTSA throughout the year.
If you have any suggestions, do not hesitate to contact the school. Together, we can
make Palm Harbor Middle the best school on the SunCoast!

VETERAN'S DAY PROGRAM: Wednesday, November 11, 2015
A tradition continues at Palm Harbor Middle School for the 33rd year. We will have two Veterans Day Ceremonies celebrating Palm Harbor Middle School's military veterans of students and staff. at 9:45 a.m. or 11:00 a.m. in the court yard.
Each year Palm Harbor Middle School holds a special program in which we honor Military Veterans. In 1986, a permanent "Wall of Remembrance" was designed, built, and painted by Mr. Tony George and his shop classes. Mr. George hand prints the names to display on the wall of over 700 veterans. These names are collected each year by the social studies teachers. The names are veter-ans who are relatives and friends of the students, staff and community of Palm Harbor Middle School. The Veteran's Day Program has become a tradition at Palm Harbor Middle School. The ceremony consists of the Dunedin High School ROTC Color Guard and Drill Team, a playing of the National Anthem, music by the PHMS band and chorus, and speeches by a veteran and students. At the end of the program, students will pass by the "Wall of Remembrance" and place flowers on or near the wall. As they pass by the wall, the students search for the names they are proud to remember. In this way, they can become personally involved in honoring their nation's heroes.
This program exemplifies the meaning of Veteran's Day, providing the students, staff, and the Palm Harbor community a great opportunity to express their appreciation to the veterans of our country.
