Although no statistics exist on the subject, it is clear that com-puter law is one of the fastest growing legal fields. Since 1960, when the first, generally speculative articles began to appear in the litera-ture, the volume of material being published on one or another as-pect of the subject has increased exponentially. Today, there is a virtual avalanche of articles, books and government publications on the legal implications of computers. These materials appear in a wide range of forums, from such specialized periodicals as the Jurimetrics Journal, to such popular fare as Time magazine and the New Yorker.

In 1978, there were over 1200 items published on the subject worldwide. The following bibliography organizes them topically ac-cording to the following index.
