Welcome to the 3rd Euregional Maastricht Symposium on Immune Compromised Traveller
(3rd EUMICT 2014, www.minc.eu/eumict).
Medical counseling for travellers with an altered immunity is challenging, because evidence
based guidelines for this growing population are limited. In general guidelines for the
immunocompetent traveller are followed, but great uncertainties about protective
immunisation, adverse events, reactivation of underlying disease and other preventive
measures remain. In March 2009 and January 2012 we organised an Euregional symposium
on the immune compromised traveller, which took place in Maastricht, The Netherlands,
and these were both highly appreciated by its participants.
Meeting the great need for a regular update concerning this subject, we organise a third
symposium. This symposium is targeted particularly at medical travel counselers and
physicians / medical specialists managing immune compromised patients in the EUregion of
Maastricht, being the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany and Luxembourg. Professionals
outside this region who are interested are of course also welcome. We aim to give insights
and improve knowledge on several medical aspects concerning the immune compromised
traveller, consequently improving safe travelling for this population. On this third
symposium we will particularly focus on vaccinations; what is known, what is lacking and
what practical advises can be given.

Registration Fee
The registration fee is € 95 (ninety five euro). The fee includes foods and non-alcoholic beverages at the welcome, lunch, two breaks and reception.
Fee for the pre-symposium diner is separate and this will be € 35 (thirty five euro).

Also on Sunday March 23th a pre-symposium diner will be held from 19:30 – 22:00 hr at the Van der Valk hotel Maastricht. Aim of this diner is that participants and speakers can meet and network. Fee for participation to this diner is € 35,= (thirty five euro) when paid in advance together with the registration fee. Strong alcoholic liquids are not included in this diner-fee.
Last-minute participation at the diner is possible, but then one must make own arrangements with the Van der Valk hotel.
