A treasure house of miracles!
Effect 1 - Performer gives out a sealed envelope which contains a prediction. The envelope is ungimmicked and contains only one straight plain language prediction. Performer then has anyone in the audience choose a book from a shelf of books which contains a number of books by different authors and titles. The spectator chooses only one book!( he does not choose 5 books and lays down 3, for example.) Performer calls attention to the other books on the shelf and the fact that they are of different titles and
authors. May be as many as 9 books! Spectator is next instructed to open the book secretly to any page and to choose any
paragraph. Performer without knowing to what page the
spectator has opened the book, tells him what he is reading, word for word and the entire paragraph! For the climax, the prediction envelope is opened and the prediction read. It predicted the title and author of the book plus one of the words chosen by the spectator! The prediction may be printed in a newspaper weeks before! Gentlemen, the book that the spectator chooses can be read through by anyone and nothing found amiss. The book may be one written by a famous person dealing in phlosophy! There are no 2 pages alike in the main text of the book. There are no pictures or photos in the book. Just text. Cards, dice orcounters are not used. Only the books are used. The spectator does not write
anything down and does not have to talk. This is a one-man effect. It can be done at any time without previous or pre-show

Effect 2 - Spectator takes a book into another room and secretly opens it to any page and says absolutely nothing, just chooses any paragraph or chapter and the performer tells him what he is reading without knowing the page turned to! The effect can be done over the telephone from another city!
Effect 3 - Three persons are each given one of three books. They secretly and indivually choose a page and choose a word and do not write the page down or tell anyone what page each has indivually chosen. Performer reveals all 3 words. There are no short or crimped pages in the book. Spectator has an absolute free choice of any page!
Effect 4 - Spectator is given a free choice of one of three books and has a free choice of any page in the book. Performer predicts the word chosen in a sealed envelope!

The Glass Box
A glass see-through box which is locked and sealed and which contains several folded pieces of paper (3), is given to the committee chairman to hold until the day of the show. For the climax of the show the Mentalist calls for the box. This is displayed to the audience and the folded papers inside the box are clearly seen by all. The box is unsealed and unlocked and anyone from the audience is told to take out the papers and read them. These prove to be predictions of events that have just happened and can be verified by the newspapers. In essence, this is a Headline Prediction stunt. It is obvious to the audience that the Mentalist never sticks his hand into the box after it is sealed and the Mentalist never touches the papers until they are verified! The Headless Horseman
Back in 1986 I fooled Al Mann badly with my driving a Car with covered with Cardboard and newspaper taped over the complete windshield. He wrote about this on page 9 of The fabulous feats of Jason Michaels. At that time he mentioned nobody knew my secret, which was correct. Many years later he wrote the book the Headless Horseman. IN it he stated that many top performers of all old knew the secret of blindfolding cars and driving them although to his knowledge no one had actually done it. Al forgot that in his own book 7 years earlier he gave me credit for actually pulling this off. I never told Al my secret. However he did devise two methods that were remarkably close to my method. Method One, Involves using black water paint and having all the
windows painted black (it will wash off later). You are blindfolded and get in the car with all the windows painted. Yet you drive the car several blocks. At the end everything can once again be examined. Method Two: I love this presentation, although the method isn't as clever as my newspaper taped over the windshield. You agree to do a blindfolded drive and are blindfolded using the None So Blind method or any other blindfold. They lead you to the car.HOWEVER YOU ARE UNAWARE, That the cardboard sun shade is over the windshild. You proceed to drive the car anyway despite the cardboard sunshade is still in place. I love this idea for presentation and tip my hat to Al Mann for coming up with idea. Of course the press will report you drove with cardboard over the windshield. Actually the method I used was a combination of both methods that Al explains in this book. The proper blindfold drive can get you worldwide publicity. When I performed as Jason Michaels, my driving a car
blindfolded with cardboard, got me arrested and the story was covered worldwide. AP picked it up and the story appeared in thousands of newspapers. Al Mann covered and reprinted many of the articles in the book he did about me. The Feats of Jason Michaels. Look At the Worldwide Publicity I Got doing this, look closely and you'll see AP after the articles showing that AP sent the story worldwide. Warning! You can duplicate (or closely duplicate) the effect I did. Even though a few dozen people bought the book, neither Al or myself at that time knew anyone else who actually had the nerve to do this. Its one thing to read a method, its another to do it.
Al recommended doing this stuff at a fair ground. I did the trick on a public highway! That is why I got arrested and all the great publicity! The method is dangerous. In all my years I've only taught my secret to two other mentalist. Neither one had the nerve to actually try it.
Please realize the methods that Al Mann writes about are dangerous. You could possibly be involved a car accident or even kill yourself. I still occasionally do my newspaper over the windshield drive, but it is dangeous. Lexicon phenomena
This 1976 Al Mann Exclusive is widely regarded as one of his most ingenious book tests. From an "Enrich your vocabulary" list inside the covers of a dictionary, two spectators secretly agree to think of one of 400 word pairs. Each thinks of one of the words, looking it up in the dictionary to be certain of its meaning. The mentalist does not know the word pair they chose and does not handle the dictionary. He may be at some distance from the spectators as they look up the words. But once they have
ascertained the words' meanings, he is able to tell them what they are thinking! Nothing written down, nothing to hide. You get Al Mann's signed instructions with his diabolical secret, plus the dictionary, and that certain something that makes the secret
practical. Al Mann's works were never inexpensive, and this was no exception. To preserve the secret, he had the instructions printed by two printers in different states, so that even they would not know the secret! Al Mann wrote up hundreds of ideas. BUT this is the one he actually used in his shows. It's my favorite of all his effects and I have used it to knock an audience dead with stunned silence. Here is what Al says about this effect: I consider this effect as on the greatest test that a Mentalist can present. I do it in my shows. The concept of the test is so strong tht your audience receeds into profound silence. They have never seen the effect before! Sophisticated spectators who have seen Mentalist several times know that if they write something down, the mentalist will know what they wrote. They don't know how, but they know he read it somehow. With the principle of Tesseract, the members of the audience WRITE NOTHING! Therein lies the mystery. THE
DEADLY EFFECT! The Mentalist shows 3 business cards and says they contain predictions of things to come. He says he is willing to share the predictions with 3 members of the audience (not stooges) so they can read and see them in advance. The 3 cards are passed out to 3
different people. They people who get the cards actually see and read your predictions. They are not hidden. Members of the audience call out a 3 digit number, a city, and a word is chosen from a book. Nothing is written down by the audience members, they just call this stuff out. Believe it or not the mentalist gathers the three preditions and reads them to the audience. THEY MATCH! He then looks at the 3 members of the audience and they verify the predictions were the same ones they read before anything was called out! READ THAT
again. This is the true effect and nothing left out! Oh yes at the end you can leave everything on the table for anyone to pickup. Everything is as should be.

It is ungimmicked and unprepared in any way. The person may examine it to his heart's content then hangs on to it. The master psychic (that's you) ask the person to call out the name of any person that is dead or the name of any living person that is important to them. Showing both hands to be empty with nothing hidden, the magician rips open the end of the envelope and has THE PERSON REACH IN A REMOVE A CARD. Psychic shows an empty tea cup and fills it with tea. A person concentrates on a ESP symbol. NO FORCE. The symbol appears inside the cup filled with tea in an errie black marking! Al Says this can be a feature of your show. Read carefully the true effect: Mentalist passes out a thick book and tells one person to flip the corners and to stop anywhere. HE DOES this in his own hands! He is asked to note the page number. The book is then passed to a second person who opens the book to the chosen page. NOW HEAR THIS! The freely chosen page has a large red cross on it. It's the only page in the book with a mark on it! Read that again, the only page in the book! A Panorama of Marvels
This is quite a find for the collector or mentalist who enjoys Al Mann's great work. It's about 13 years old and is officially titled AME Catalogue One for Miracle Makers. Practically everything he has written is in this book. You'll be able to complete your collection by figuring out what you a missing as well as being quite annoyed that you can't locate some of these books
anymore. It is 8 1/2 x 11, spiral bound and about 90 pages (front and back printed) long. Also included is a 1998 price list, 4 loose pages and 7 pages stapled to the back cover. Al sent out
supplements when new books came out. In the catalog are a few check marks next to titles in ink. This is not in mint condition but was used as a reference source by a mentalist - thus it does
indeed look used - rough edges, wrinkles, some bends. But the material within is quite interesting. Dunninger material too. Even if you never get the actual books, you'll find your mind thinking about the effects that are described. Did you know he introduced a new gem for the mentalist called O'DANEVEN'S SECRET?
