Glade B. Curtis, MD, MPH, FACOG, CPC-OGS

Glade is Board certified and a fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists with more than 20 years experience; this includes participating in the delivery of more than 5,000 babies. He holds a Master of Public Health degree and has four years experience working for the State of Utah Department of Health Division of Healthcare Financing. Dr. Curtis has spoken at conferences and taught coding seminars for more than 12 years, he is a CPC and a Certified OB/GYN Coder. Dr. Curtis is also the co-author of 18 titles relating to child birth and child care with sales of over 5 million books, including the best selling: Your Pregnancy Week By Week and Your Baby’s First Year Week By Week.

Betty A. Johnson, CPC, CCS-P, CIC, CCP

Betty is the president and principal consultant of CPC Solutions, Inc., with over 20 years experience in the field. She served as a member of the American Academy of Professional Coders’ National Advisory Board from 2004-2007 and was elected as the Member Relations – East officer from 2005-2004-2007. Betty is an approved PMCC instructor, has spoken nationally for providers, payors and institutions including Blue Cross Blue Shield, the AAPC, and The Coding Institute. Betty holds a B.A. in Healthcare Administration and is called upon frequently to provide auditing services, lecture and author articles.

Susan Thurston, MA, CPC, CPC-H, CPC-P, CCS-P, CMM, MCS-P, CHCO, RMC

Susan is the Director of Clinical Content for Contexo Media and CEO of Coder's Connection Inc., a healthcare consulting firm. She holds a Masters in Curriculum Design and has been adjunct faculty for College of Eastern Utah, Colorado Mountain College, Western Colorado Area Health Education Center and Mesa State College Utech campus. She is certified through AAPC, ARHCP, AHIMA, PAHCOM, MCS-P and is a Certified Healthcare Compliance Officer. Susan has worked in the medical field for over 38 years and provides education and compliance services to physicians and organizations. She has been a licensed instructor for the Professional Medical Coding Curriculum for over eight years.

Robin Linker, CPC, CPC-H, CCS-P, MCS-P, CPC-P, CHC, RMC

Robin is the co-founder of the Rocky Mountain Healthcare Institute and CEO of Robin Linker & Associates, a nationally known healthcare consulting firm. With over 29 years in healthcare, she provides consulting, auditing, research and education in most areas of practice management, compliance and correct coding. She is certified in both physician and facility coding through AAPC and AHIMA, and is dually certified in medical compliance. She is a member of the Physician Education, Training and Advisory Group (PETAG) for CMS and is the former Director of Education for the AAPC. She provides expert case witnessing in fraud and abuse, and is an experienced IRO involved in OIG cases.

Edgar D. Bueno, JD

Mr. Bueno is a Senior Associate for Pillsbury, Winthrop, LLP. He represents both individuals and organizations

from the health care industry who are under investigation for health care fraud. He has represented clients before the Department of Justice (DOJ), the Office of Inspector General for the Department of Health and Human Services (OIG), the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), and various state Medicaid Fraud Control Units. He has significant experience in investigations and litigation involving the False Claims Act, the Anti-Kickback Statute, the Stark Law, and the OIG’s civil penalty and program exclusion administrative authorities. He has extensive experience in matters involving the privacy and security of health care information (HIPAA). From 1997 to 2003, he served as Senior Counsel in the Office of Counsel to the Inspector General for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. From 1993 to 1994, he worked in the Office of Counsel to the President at the White House.

Susan Garrison, CHC, CPC, CCS-P, CPAR, CPC-H

Susan is the Executive Vice President of both Med Law Advisors and the healthcare consulting division of Magnus Confidential, Inc. As a consultant to hundreds of healthcare providers, legal teams, accountants and related organizations, Susan has assisted clients in all facets of documentation, coding, billing, compliance, and litigation needs. With over 25 years of experience in healthcare management, Susan held prior positions of Senior Manager of Outpatient Consulting Services with the 3M Company, VP of Accounts Receivable Management with MedPartners, VP of Outpatient Consulting Services with Healthcare Management Advisors, and Fair Hearing Officer for Georgia’s Medicare Carrier. She has also served as Past President of the AAPCs’ National Advisory Board.

Deborah Grider, CPC, CPC-H, PC-P, CCS-P, EMS, RMC

Ms. Grider is president of Medical Professionals. She brings over 28 years of experience in practice management, insurance, coding, reimbursement education and consulting. Deborah is President of the American Academy of Professional Coders National Advisory Board, and is the author of Principals of ICD-9-CM Coding, in its third edition, Coding with Modifiers, in its second edition, and she has recently completed the second edition of the Medical Record Chart Auditor. In addition, she is the author of the Certified Professional Coder-Hospital study guide and the Professional Medical Coding Curriculum-Hospital for AAPC.
