There is a clear link between the quality of a school’s library and the general well being of pupils and their literacy levels.

WHAT WE OFFER
• A wide range of books and resources to support a broad and balanced curriculum that enables all members of the school community to become critical thinkers and confident users of information, developing
independent life-long learners. Resources include books and AVA resources.
• Materials to support literacy and reading, helping every child become a reader through enjoyment, to create independent readers and readers for life. Resources include fiction
boxes, author boxes, group reading materials, shared reading materials, genre collections, AVA resources and big books etc. An online catalogue of all the titles in the literacy collection is available. This gives a guide to year, band and level for each title.
• Membership of the Somerset Literacy Network providing assistance with literacy planning, resources and access to training and workshops. (Gold subscribers only/Primary schools only.)
• Inspiration and information on flexible, innovative and exciting library spaces and the management of the resources held within them. We offer a complete package from library design through to the fitting of library furniture, overhauling book stock, reclassification and processing.
• Discounted book purchase scheme which includes free processing.
• Online discounted purchase scheme via Askews. Please contact us for details.
• Sales of book jackets, date labels, shelf guides, book dividers, etc.
• Story times and exhibitions for book promotions, for example parents’ evenings, author visits, book weeks etc.
• Training and support on all aspects of school library provision for staff, volunteers and pupils. Includes a range of professional development, working with teachers and students to ensure that students are equipped with their own strategies for handling information and training library volunteers. (No additional charge for Gold subscribers.)
• Language collections.
• Library Management Systems. Advice and demonstration of suitable software and practical help in building a catalogue of books and resources, training and ongoing support.

• Door to door delivery and collection service throughout the term. Includes delivery for Somerset Music and other County Council departments and school-to-school deliveries.
• Resources for Total Communication. A catalogue of resources developed by Somerset Total Communication is available. Items can also be viewed at Resources for Learning. They can be supplied in loose leaf or made up form.
GOLD SUBSCRIBER
Discount for small schools/Academies with NOR less than 99. Discounts for CLPs. Prices on application.
The Gold standard package includes:
• Virtually unlimited loans (subject to availability), handpicked to suit individual needs. Excellent value for money – to purchase 1000 items at the average book price costs £6630.00! Borrow items, return them and borrow some more all within the cost of your subscription.
• Language collections.
• Extensive AVA collection available, including broadcasts for schools, some mainstream programmes and commercial films. Please ask for further details. Bookable in advance.
• Resources to support literacy and reading. Fiction, shared readers, group readers, big books and story sessions.
• Membership of the Somerset Literacy Network providing assistance with literacy planning, resources and access to training and workshops. (Primary schools only.)
• Door to door delivery and collection service throughout the term. Includes delivery for Somerset Music and other County Council departments and school-to-school deliveries.
• Up to one day of RfL staff time to be used in school for stock editing, story telling, parents’ evening, library design, fitting of library furniture, book fair, advice and consultancy etc.
• Free training sessions as arranged by Resources for Learning. Contact us for details.

• Library Management Systems. Advice and demonstration of suitable software and practical help in building a catalogue of books and resources, training and ongoing support.

SILVER SUBSCRIBER
• Opt to borrow a specified number of resources over the academic year. No issues regarding tatty, out of date books or finding time to make your own purchase.
• Level 1 - 350 items per annum. Compare with the cost of purchase and save about £1,600.00.
• Level 2 - 650 items per annum. Compare with the cost of purchase and save about £3,000.00.
• Level 3 - 1000 items per annum. Compare with the cost of purchase and save about £5,000.00.
(Any usage above the agreed levels will incur extra charges. We endeavour to advise you if you are about to exceed your limit. Please contact us for advice.)
• Topic collections handpicked to suit individual needs.
• Resources to support literacy and reading. Fiction, shared readers, group readers and big books.

BRONZE SUBSCRIBER - PAY AS YOU USE SERVICES
There is no need to indicate this choice on the order form. Please contact Resources for Learning to discuss your requirements. Select from the services we offer above. You will be invoiced directly by Resources for Learning.
Note: We cannot guarantee to supply material against every individual request, since we operate within the constraints of published output, overall demand and purchasing power. We will, however, ensure that all of the loan allocation can be taken up.
LOAN PERIODS
• Books – one term.
• Literacy resources – half a term.
• Video/DVD – two weeks.
