Digital Photography Certificate
Digital photography has become the primary way for all of us to communicate our life experiences with others. Learn how to capture images that will be treasured for a lifetime! The Digital Photography Certificate is for students who wish to gain practical knowledge and get hands-on experience on how to navigate the various features of their digital camera; understand the effects of lighting, lenses, and shutter speed; and use black and white photography to create depth and emotion. Our program allows students to gain the knowledge needed to photograph various subjects such as people, nature, and sports. Enhancing digital images through the use of Photoshop Elements will also be covered.
The Digital Photography Certificate is delivered in various settings on campus and consists of:
Photography I – Beginner, Photography II – Intermediate, Photography III – Advanced, Digital Darkroom, and 3 electives. Note: Students may substitute Outdoor Photography in the place of their 3 electives.
Professional Photography Certificate
Are you interested in making photography your career? If you have imagined yourself capturing beautiful images for a living, this certificate program is for you! The Professional Photography Certificate will move students from basic to advanced photographic techniques. This is an up-to-date and comprehensive course, taught by professional freelance photographers, that covers the most important aspects needed to begin a career as a professional photographer.
The Professional Photography Certificate includes the same basic requirements as our Digital Photography Certificate, and then pushes students to expand their skill set on a broader scale, which is necessary for a freelance photographer. Students are required to complete Photography I – Beginner, Photography II – Intermediate, Photography III – Advanced, Digital Darkroom, Outdoor Photography, 3 electives, and the Photography Portfolio Capstone Course in which students finalize their portfolios and showcase their work during a final exhibition.

Clinical Medical Assistant Program
This program is intended for students who want to prepare for an exciting, challenging and rewarding career in healthcare. This program will train students to assist physicians by performing functions related to the clinical responsibilities of a medical office. Instruction includes preparing patients for examination and treatment, routine laboratory procedures and the technical aspects of phlebotomy and the use of the electrocardiograph (EKG) machine, plus more. Students will review important topics including phlebotomy, EKG, pharmacology, professional workplace behavior, ethics and the legal aspects of healthcare. This program includes 140 hours of classroom lecture and hands on labs and a 160-hour clinical externship opportunity at a local healthcare service provider for those students who qualify. To be eligible for the 160-hour clinical rotation, students must successfully complete the 140-hour program, submit to a thorough background check, drug screening and meet other requirements.
NOTE: Upon successful completion of this program (both 140 hours of classroom instruction and 160 hours of clinical training), students would be eligible to sit for the National Healthcareer Association (NHA) Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) national examination.

Pharmacy Technician Program
This comprehensive 50-hour course will prepare students to enter the pharmacy field and take the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board’s PTCB exam. Course content includes: pharmacy medical terminology, history of pharmacy, pharmacy practice in multiple environments, pharmacy calculations and measurements, reading and interpreting prescriptions, and defining drugs by generic and brand names. Through classroom lecture and hands on labs, students will review dosage calculations, drug classifications, the “top 200 drugs”, I.V. flow rates, sterile compounding, dose conversions, aseptic technique, the handling of sterile products, total parental nutrition (TPN), dispensing of prescriptions, inventory control, and
billing and reimbursement. Includes 80-hour clinical externship.

Administrative Dental Assisting Program
This 60-hour Dental Assisting Program prepares students for entry level positions in one of the fastest growing health care positions - Dental Assisting. The purpose of this course is to familiarize the student with all areas of pre-clinical dental assisting and provide training in the professional skills required to function as an assistant in the dental practice. This course covers the following key areas and topics - Administrative Aspects include: the history of dentistry and dental assisting; introduction to the dental office; the legal aspects of dentistry; policies and guidelines. Clinical Aspects include: introduction to oral anatomy; dental operatory; dental equipment, introduction to tooth structure; primary and permanent teeth; the oral cavity and related structures; proper patient positioning; dental hand-pieces; sterilization; and other areas. In addition to entry-level administrative jobs, this course is ideal for students interested in pursuing a future formal Dental Hygienist program. Includes 40-hour clinical externship.

EKG Technician Program
This comprehensive 50-hour EKG Technician Certification Program prepares students to function as EKG Technicians and to take the American Society of Phlebotomy Technician (ASPT) - Electrocardiograph (EKG) Technician exam in addition to other National Certification Exams. This course will include important practice and background information on anatomy of the heart and physiology, medical disease processes, medical terminology, medical ethics, legal aspects of patient contact, electrocardiography and stress testing. Additionally, students will practice with EKG equipment and perform hands on labs including introduction to the function and proper use of the EKG machine, the normal anatomy of the chest wall for proper lead placement, 12-lead placement and other clinical practices. The EKG Technician Certification Program includes a graded final exam to help prepare students for the ASPT
-EKG Technician Exam.

Medical Administrative Assistant Program
This 50-hour course prepares students to function effectively in many of the administrative and clerical positions in the health care industry. Medical Administrative Assistants, Medical Secretary, and Medical Records Clerks are all positions in great demand. Phlebotomy Technician Program
This 90-hour Phlebotomy Technician Program prepares professionals to collect blood specimens from clients for the purpose of laboratory analysis. Students will become familiar with all aspects related to blood collection and develop comprehensive skills to perform venipunctures completely and safely. Classroom and lab work includes terminology; anatomy and physiology; blood collection procedures; specimen hands-on practice; and training in skills and techniques to perform puncture methods.
NOTE: This 90-hour program does not include the arranging of a free clinical rotation on behalf of students. Although not required to work as a Phlebotomy Technician, students that wish to pursue a clinical rotation should contact local health care organizations to arrange their personal clinical schedule.

Medical Billing & Coding Program
This combined 80-hour billing and coding course offers the skills needed to solve insurance billing problems, how to manually file claims (using the CPT and ICD-9 manual), complete common insurance forms, trace delinquent claims, appeal denied claims and use generic forms to streamline billing procedures. The course covers the following areas: CPT (Introduction, Guidelines, Evaluation and Management), specialty fields (such as surgery, radiology and laboratory), ICD-9 (Introduction and Guidelines) and basic claims processes for medical insurance and third party reimbursements. Students will learn how to find the service and codes using manuals, (CPT, ICD-9 and HCPCS). After obtaining the practical work experience (6 months to 2 years), students who complete this course could be qualified to sit for the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) - Certified Professional Coder Exam (CPC or CPC-H Apprentice); the American Health Information Association (AHIMA) Certified Coding Associate (CCA) exam; and/or other National Certification Exams.

Come and enjoy the University of North Georgia Gainesville campus INDOOR pool. We are able to offer year-round swim lessons in an environment with a consistent temperature and where weather is rarely a problem! Keep your skills fresh and improve your swimming ability all year round.
Our swimming lessons are based on the American Red Cross Learn to Swim program. Students will be grouped according to skill level, and experience.
Our low teacher/student ratio of 1:3 will ensure lots of individualized attention for each child. Lessons will be geared toward progression in the following levels:

Basic Handgun Safety & Training Course
(Minimum age is 21)
The class will begin with ten safety rules and the instructor will go over and explain each of them to the class, followed up by questions. Next, the laws about where and when you can carry and when you can and cannot use your weapon will be covered. After this, the instructor will go over the basic steps of using your firearm correctly and do some practical demonstrations with students in the class and answer any more questions. This classroom portion will take approximately three hours. We will take a break and meet at Cedar Creek Pistol indoor gun range at 4042 Chamblee Rd. Oakwood Ga 30566. When you arrive we will go over all range rules to the live fire exercise where the instructor will teach proper sight alignment, trigger pull, stance, breathing, grip. The range will have three lanes reserved for the class to use.
For the Range Portion following the classroom safety class: We will be using Cedar Creek Range in Oakwood for our live fire exercises. Cost for the Range is $10.00 per person, they also sell targets for $1 each. Handguns can also be rented at the range and they also sell ammo. Prices vary on ammunition.
If you would like you can bring your own gun and ammo to the RANGE ONLY. (You must leave these locked in your vehicle while on the college campus)
