STEP 1 - GETTING STARTED OVERVIEW

Before you begin, check the accompanying diagram to make sure you have all the parts you need. You’ll need to make sure the surface you intend to install your hardware is sturdy enough to accommodate the brackets. If you’re screwing directly into a surface this means locating wood studs that are strong enough to securely bond with the included screws. Otherwise, you’ll need to use a secure fastener (as illustrated) but please note this piece is not included.

Tools & Parts

WALLBOARD OR PLASTER:

Hollow wall applications: Use a secure fastener designed specifi cally for this purpose.

METAL:

Prepare by pre-drilling holes and then using the included screws.

CONCRETE, STONE, BRICK OR TILE:

Use a masonry drill and surface-specifi c plugs, anchors, or screws. When selecting a fastener be sure it’s designed to support the weight of the product being installed (if you’re not sure, either give us a call or ask a professional at your local hardware store). Once obtained, follow the fastener manufacturer’s instructions regarding proper installation.

TOOLS YOU WILL NEED TO INSTALL YOUR HARDWARE:

Pencil, screwdriver, ¼" nut driver, level, and a drill with a 764" drill bit.

Note: It’s important to monitor the amount of pressure you apply when using a drill. If the screws are too tight this may cause the screw itself to break off in the wall or window frame.

STEP 3 - ATTACHING BRACKETS TO THE CEILING

Hold the ceiling bracket and attach it to the ceiling, aligning the holes of the bracket with the marks you made on ceiling on a previous step.

Be sure and attach the bracket to the ceiling with the appropriate mounting hardware and make sure these brackets are leveled.

(It is always recommended to try and attach to the ceiling joists found inside ceiling. Where this is not possible please use an anchor suitable to carry the weight of your hardware selection as well as your draperies and any accessories.)

Mounting the Brackets

Place the motor bracket on the rod.

Hold it up to the spot you wish to install it making sure there is enough spacing from wall to back of motor bracket. Leave about 2” away from wall or window. After you’ve located the ideal location, use a pencil to mark the ceiling where the back of the rod is resting.

Center the rod over the window opening at the desired spot. Using the pencil, mark where the ends of each rod are positioned;

if you’re using a center bracket, note the middle point between these two spots.

Use the bracket placement chart below to know exactly where to install the brackets for best support and mark those spots.

STEP 4 - ATTACHING THE SPLICE CONNECTOR STEP 4 - ATTACHING THE SPLICE CONNECTOR

Depending on your order, you may have received a splice connector.

A splice connector is a metal piece placed outside the rod in a multi-segment rod to join all pieces together.

A. Lay the rods flat on the floor with bottom of rod facing up. Swing one side over to align the two ends.

(fig a)

B. Loosen the set screws on the splice connector. (fig b)

C. Disassemble the master carrier by unscrewing the screws on the metal arm, and take the small metal piece and the flat metal piece out.

(fig c)

D. Then move the two plastic connectors together which will move the two rod segments close together. (fig d)

E. Make sure the segments are nice and tight. Center the splice connector between the splice and tighten all set screws on one side, then tighten all the set screws on the opposite side. (fig e)

F. Assemble master carrier by placing flat metal piece in between the two plastic connectors. Make sure you press it down all the way. (fig f)

G. Then, grab metal arm and align the holes in the metal arm with the holes in the metal piece inside the plastic connectors and place the small metal piece to the back of the plastic connectors and make sure those holes align as well.

Insert screw and screw it through those holes. Do not tighten down.

Repeat with the other screw. Once both screws are in, tighten both of them down and make sure metal arm is straight. (fig g)

STEP 10 - ATTACHING DRAPERY TO ROD

Insert drapery pin hooks into master carriers and end hooks. For split draw drapes, place the end hook into both ends of the track. For one way draw, place the end hook on the motor side.

There are small slats on the ends of the rod (track) where these end hooks are attached.

To attach, just push the end hook down into that groove. (see Fig. 1) The first two drape pin hooks go into the master carrier in these two spots.

(see Fig. 2)

Split Draw Drapery

For Split Drapery, start pinning from the center and go towards the ends.

For drapes with a 5" or 6" return, you will pin the last pleat to the end hook and the return will get attached to the screw eye provided with your drape.

The return is the fl at fabric following after the last pleat. The screw eye should screw easily into drywall.

(It should secure the power cord either way you use it. If it does not work on one side, simply turn it over and try it on the other side.)

Wrap the velcro strap around the motor and motor power cord.

Press the strap together to secure the motor and power cord together.

STEP 11 - BREAKING THE BUCKRAM

Styling your Drapes' Header

Now that your drapes are hanging from carriers you can style the header (top of drapes) by breaking the buckram.

This is the practice of creasing the buckram, the stiffener sewn in the drapes header (see Fig. 1), hold the fabric in between the pleats and fold forward. Squeeze the fabric and stiffener together to crease it.

Breaking the buckram will allow the drapes to stack properly and gain memory.

Breaking them to the front will prevent the drapes from rubbing on the motor when operating it. (see Fig. 2)

STEP 10 - ATTACHING DRAPERY TO ROD

The return allows for better light control and insulation. The screw eye should screw easily into drywall. The return allows for better light control and insulation.

If you did not order your drapes with a return, then it will still come with a 4" fl at piece of fabric at the ends. The second to last pin which should be on the last pleat should go on the last carrier and the very last pin right after the 4" fl at piece of fabric should be placed on the end hook. (see Fig. 3)

Dressing your Drapes

Once your drapes are installed, most wrinkles and folds will hang out on their own. You may also us a garment/

commercial steamer to help eliminate wrinkles depending on your fabric selection.

There are some fabrics that should not be steamed, such as Linen and Rayon. Check your packaging sticker for Fabric Content.

NOTE: All of our drapes are hand-pressed prior to shipping, however due to transit, some additional wrinkling may occur.

Setting the Pleats

To set the pleats, open drapes completely making sure that they are stacked neatly.

Using the tie back string provided, tie them in the open position and leave them tied for 2 to 3 days.

This will allow the pleats to set properly and gain memory.

PROBLEM SOLUTION

My drapes go beyond the rod. Your limit has not been set properly.

Repeat setting your closed limits.

My drapes don't open all the way.

1. Try to reset the open limits again.

2. Make sure the motor power cord has been tucked away at the back of motor with Velcro so it won't interfere with drapes closing.

The motor does not work. 1. Check that the power source and motor are connected properly.

2. Make sure the antenna cord is intact.

The indicator light on the remote does not shine or the remote controlling range

becomes shorter. Replace the battery in the remote.
