Introduction

GE’s SymSecure is enterprise video management software that provides seamless management of digital video across IP networks. SymSecure provides a full integration solution for SymSuite MPEG-4 digital video products. 1

SymSecure software leverages a customer’s IT infrastructure to provide networked video recording, virtual matrix switching, alarm management and seamless web access to live and recorded video. SymSecure is deployed on commercial off-the-shelf workstations, servers, and storage systems. Customers can choose the computer platform that best serves their needs. GE Security offers world-class products from Dell and Hewlett Packard as part of a turnkey solution.

SymSecure includes integration with key elements of GE’s core CCTV video platform including DVMRe, StoreSafe, Digiplex IV Switch, 405 Keypad, CyberDome, and Legend.

There are four base SymSecure software packages: • SymSecure DVR Manager

• SymSecure Light • SymSecure Pro • SymSecure Enterprise

This document provides software feature comparisons to help make the best decision.

DVR Management

SymSecure DVR Manager provides live viewing and playback capabilities for a system of SymDec recorders. The package includes a rich set of configuration tools, live video viewing and event management capabilities. The DVR manager scales to 96 cameras. The DVR Manager is limited to recording on the DVR and does not support Networked Video Recording.

Video System Management

The video system management packages support both DVR recording and recording on commercial off-the-shelf servers as a Network Video Recorded (NVR). NVR recording is used to record IP video steams from the SymVeo IP camera, SymNet IP codec or as a backup to the SymDec products.

SymSecure Light: This package supports up to 40 cameras. It is ideal for small systems of SymVeo IP cameras or SymNet codecs. The base package includes Virtual Matrix Switch, Networked Video Recording (NVR) on commercial PCs or servers, web browser access and a rich set of live and video playback features.

SymSecure Pro: This package can be deployed on multiple servers to provide a highly scaleable and seamless video solution. This is the most popular package and meets most video management needs.

(2)

SymSecure Enterprise: This package is designed for highly mission-critical video management. The base package includes all of the features in the base Pro package. The package supports additional options for redundant video archiving and fail-over archiving across multiple NVR systems.
