Purpose of Document

This document provides a guide for users of App Center to set up and use Mobile Device Management (MDM) capabilities.

MDM allows the App Center administrator to make use of the operating system on your device to perform certain functions, such as setting password policies, locking your device, restricting certain capabilities of your device or wiping your device if it is lost or stolen.

Devices Supported

App Center MDM supports both iOS (Apple) and Android MDM. You will need to be running the following operating systems on your device:

 iOS v4.3 or greater (excluding 6.0)  Android v2.2 or greater

 Blackberry v6-7

(3)

Installing App Center on iOS

You will receive a link in an email from your App Center administrator. Make sure you click on the link from your mobile device. You will then be taken to the following installation screen:

(4)

The App Center app will then be downloaded and installed on your device. Once fully downloaded, click on the App Center icon:

<Note: the icon may be customized for your organization – look out for your company logo>

When launched you may be asked if the App Center can send you push notifications. If so, click “Allow”. You’ll then be taken to the Login screen. If your administrator has provided you with a Username and Password, enter those and click “Login”. If not, you will be asked to pick a Username and Password:

(5)

This will then take you to the “Install Profile” screen:

Click “Install”. You will see another warning, this time from iOS, regarding the MDM capabilities being enabled. Click “Install” again.

You will then be asked to enter a passcode. This is the regular passcode for your device (assuming that you have one set up) that you use when the device is booted up or locked and is required by iOS any time that you are changing the device settings. Enter the passcode.

(6)

Once the profile has been successfully installed, you will see the following screen:

Click “Done”. You may be asked to update your device password based on the password policy set by your administrator. If so, update your password accordingly.

(7)

Installing App Center on Android

You will receive a link in an email from your App Center administrator. Make sure you click on the link from your mobile device. If you have not used App Center before, you will be asked to create a Username and Password:

(8)

Click “Download App Center”. You’ll be notified that the download has started and to look for a file including “AppCenter….apk” in your downloads folder. Make sure that you have “non-marketplace apps” allowed in your Settings.

(9)

Click “Install”.

After the installation is complete, click “Open”:

(10)

After you have logged in for the first time, App Center will show a warning informing you that you will be activating the device administrator, i.e. allowing the App Center administrator to access the MDM capabilities on your device. Click “Continue” (or “Accept”).

(11)

You may be asked to update your device password based on the password policy set by your administrator. If so, update your password accordingly.

Click “Continue”. That’s it – you are now good to go!
