Accessories shall be of a modular design
allowing them to be ganged with a Beacon
Medical (Puritan-Bennett) manufactured medical
gas outlets on the job site to create a
console-like appearance. Each accessory shall consist
of a rough-in and finish assembly. All Electrical
Accessories utilize UL/CSA recognized hospital
grade receptacles. The rough-in for electrical
devices shall include a standard electrical box
for electrical connections. Gauges shall have a
pressure range of 0-100 psi for Oxygen, Nitrous
Oxide, Medical air, and Carbon Dioxide; 0-300
psi for Nitrogen and 0-30” Hg for Vacuum and
Evacuation. Gas specificity shall be maintained
by positive pin indexing between rough-in and
finish assembly. A machined brass outlet block
shall be permanently attached to the mounting
plate in such a manner so as to permit the
7-inch long, 3/8” O.D. type K copper inlet tube to
be swiveled 360° for attachment to the piping
system. A secondary valve shall be installed in
the outlet block assembly for pressure testing
and to prevent gas flow when the gauge is
removed.
Note: Electrical Accessories furnished with 5/8” raised device cover. For wall thickness other than 5/8” customer must furnish correct size cover.

Ohmeda (Ohio Medical) Compatible Quick Connect Medical Gas outlets shall
be gas specific for the services indicated and accept only corresponding
Ohmeda (Ohio Medical) Quick Connect adapters. The Outlets shall be UL
listed, CSA approved, and meet NFPA 99 Standards (formally NFPA 56-F). All
outlets shall be tested and cleaned for oxygen service prior to shipping. A
complete outlet shall consist of a gas specific finishing assembly to be
installed after walls are finished and a matching gas specific finishing
assembly to be installed after walls are finished.
The rough-in assembly shall be of modular design and include a gas specific
16 ga. steel mounting plate designed to permit on-site ganging of multiple
outlets, in any order, on any order, on 5 inch centerline spacing. A machined
brass outlet block shall be permanently attached to the mounting plate in
such a manner so as to permit the 7 inch long, 3/8” O.D. type K copper inlet
tube to be swiveled 360o for attachment to the piping system. A secondary
valve shall be installed in the outlet block assembly for pressure testing and
to prevent gas flow when the latch/valve assembly is removed for service. A
1/2” high metal flange around the outlet block seal opening shall provide a
plaster barrier. Gas service identification shall be affixed to the inlet tube and
the face of the mounting plate. A temporary, transparent cover shall be
provided to keep debris out of the outlet during installation while permitting
labels to be viewed for outlet service identity.
The latch/valve assembly shall include a double seal primary valve and be
gas specific for the labeled service and accept only corresponding Ohmeda
(Ohio Medical) Compatible hose and apparatus adapters. The latch/valve
assembly shall be indexed to the corresponding rough-in assembly to avoid
accidental cross-fitting and shall telescope up to 3/4” to allow for variation in
finished wall thickness from 1/2” to 1-1/4”. A metal trim plate with permanent,
color coded marking of service identification shall be included as part of the
latch/valve assembly.
A die cast, chrome plated coverplate shall be provided to trim each outlet and
to fill the space between adjacent outlets. Coverplate design shall allow latch
valves to be individually removed for servicing.

Complete outlet shall be delivered to the customer in a gas specific rough-in assembly, a matching gas specific latch valve assembly, both cleaned for oxygen use and in a sealed package, and a trim plate. All assemblies shall be 100% tested for leaks, manufactured to comply with the latest edition of NFPA 99, and UL Listed.

SPECIFICATIONS:
Medical gas outlet(s) shall be manufactured by Genstar Technologies Co., Inc. (GENTEC®). Wall outlet shall be designed for concealed piping installation and
available for services indicated.
The latch valve assembly shall be Puritan-Bennett quick connect compatible and accept only gas specific Puritan-Bennett type quick connect adapters. Each latch valve assembly shall be color-coded for ease of gas identification per the appropriate standards (US or ISO). Latch valve assemblies shall have gas specific pin indexing corresponding to the rough-in assembly to prevent interchangeability of gas services and shall adjust up to 1” for variations in wall thickness.
Universal rough-in assembly shall include the wall rough-in plate (16 ga.) with inlet tubing silver brazed to the outlet body. Inlet tubing shall be type “K” copper, 1/2” (12.7 mm) OD, extend 6-1/2 inches (165 mm), and swivel 360° for ease of installation. Rough-in assembly shall accept only the specified gas service by use of indexes. Rough-in assembly shall be of modular design to permit on-site ganging of multiple outlets with assurance of accurate alignment and providing 5” centerline spacing. A dust plug and cover shall be provided to protect rough-in assembly from contamrough-ination durrough-ing handlrough-ing and rough-installation at the job site. Rough-in assemblies shall accept any latch valve assembly of the same gas service. The latch valve assembly shall be interchangeable, allowing conversion from one connection style to another without shutting down the medical gas system.
All positive pressure gas outlets shall have a primary and secondary check valve, where the secondary valve in the rough-in assembly allows servicing of the latch valve assembly without having to disrupt gas service to the outlet. Complete outlet shall be delivered to the customer in a gas specific rough-in assembly, a matching gas specific latch valve assembly, both cleaned for oxygen use and in a sealed package, and a trim plate. All assemblies shall be 100% tested for leaks, manufactured to comply with the latest edition of NFPA 99, and UL Listed.
American Medical Gas Outlets
Gentec Medical Gas Outlets shall be UL Listed, cleaned for medical gas service, and compliant to the latest edition of NFPA 99. They shall accept only corresponding Ohmeda®, DISS,
Chemetron®, or Puritan Bennett®style
quick connect adapters. Outlets are designed with an universal rough-in assembly for interchangeability on different quick connects without removing the entire outlet. For outlets providing positive pressure gas, they shall have a primary and secondary check valve, where the secondary check valve allows for servicing without isolating an entire zone.
Latch Valve Assembly (front)
The latch-valve assembly shall have gas specific index corresponding to the gas service on the rough-in assembly to prevent interchanging of gas service. Each latch-valve assembly shall be color coded for it’s specified gas service.
Rough-In Assembly (back)
The rough-in assembly shall be manufactured using (1/2" O.D.) type “K” copper tubing, silver-brazed to the outlet body. The tubing allows 360 degrees swivel on the outlet body for easy installation. Rough-in assembly is manufactured to accept only the specified gas service by use of indexes.

Description
The Oxequip
®Med*Star
®Series outlet stations provide convenient access to medical
gases in patient care locations. They are fully compatible with Med*Star and ’07 Series
adapters.
The outlets can be grouped together in any order desired by the facility. Outlets are
spaced 5" (12.7 cm) center to center. Outlet finish plates and rough-in plates are pin
indexed using steel pins for positive cross-connection prevention. Valve bodies are
separate from the finish plate, allowing easy testing for leaks and cross connection, and
contain a self-sealing poppet. Valve bodies are field adjustable to compensate for variations in plaster thickness of 12.7 mm (1/2") to
19 mm (3/4").
The 152.5 mm (6") Type K copper inlet tube has a 9.5 mm (3/8") ID (12.7 mm (1/2") OD) connection, and can rotate 360 degrees to
accommodate any field piping arrangement. The primary gas check can be serviced without shutting off the gas supply.
The cam plate contains a positive latching mechanism to retain the adapter in the outlet. The adapter is removed by operating the
release mechanism which is integral to the Med*Star adapter (’07 Series adapters use the twist mechanism).
All components (cam plate, tumbler, valve body, poppet, faceplate) are individually field replaceable.
The outlet stations are fully compliant with NFPA 99 (2002) and CSA Z-305, and are cleaned for oxygen service in accordance with
CGA G-4.1. The outlet is UL listed. Rough-in plates for the outlets are zinc plated steel for corrosion resistance and fire safety. Finish
plates are die-cast zinc, chrome-plated with brushed stainless inserts for appearance. Gas identification is provided by a
polycarbonate plastic insert, color-coded by gas service.
The cam plate/tumbler assembly is color-coded and labeled for the gas service. Release is easily accomplished with one hand using
the adapter release mechanism. The primary valve poppet provides a dust proof seal. Vacuum outlets may be used with or without
slide brackets for vacuum collection bottles of up to 2 liters (1/2 gallon) capacity (where slides are used, provide one per vacuum
outlet).

Features
The Frontal D.I.S.S. medical gas conversion outlets
represent the most technically advanced means of
providing medical gas connections to the central
piping system.
• Unique patented valve cartridge.
• Gas specific D.I.S.S. outlet body.
• Double permanent identification for the user
-service identified on both connector and faceplate.
• Full faceplate color coding.
• Strength of connections eliminates unintended
disconnects.
• Provides support for dispensing equipment
without the use of additional brackets.
Specifications
The medical gas wall outlet shall be Frontal D.I.S.S.
Medical Gas Outlets. The outlets shall incorporate
full faceplate sized color coding.
The outlets shall be capable of supporting
dispensing equipment without the use of slide
brackets.
The medical gas outlets shall be designed so that
once installed, routine service of both the primary
and secondary check valves can be accomplished
without removing the nameplate or gas specific
positions. The primary check valve shall be unitized
and of the cartridge type and the primary check can
be removed for service without shutting off the gas.
The outlet name plate shall be permanently color coded and
sealed behind a lexan protective cover. To prevent leaks
within the finished wall, there shall be no rubber o-rings for a
gas seal behind the faceplate. The name of the gas service
shall be permanently embossed on the outlet sub-mounting
plate and the chrome plated brass outlet body.
Medical gas outlets shall be cleaned for oxygen service in
accordance with the current Compressed Gas Association
(CGA) Pamphlet G-4.1, capped and placed in a protective
container for shipment.
The outlets shall be installed in strict accordance with
manufacturer’s instructions, and tested before use in
conformance with local and federal codes.
