Project Portfolio-Management in the Oracle Cloud

The Project Portfolio Management Cloud Service™ by PROMATIS is based on Oracle Fusion Project Portfolio Management (PPM) products provided by Oracle as part of the Oracle ERP Cloud. It is a Public Cloud Service that is hosted in European Data centers of Oracle Corp. Upon request, the service can also be provided in a private or hybrid cloud.

Business Process Excellence for Project oriented Organizations

Oracle Fusion PPM creates the basis for considerable improvements of the business process excellence in project-oriented organizations. Innovative elements for interaction enable experts and managers to experience a whole new dimension of quality in their project work. Fusion PPM offers a workspace in which relevant information and transactions can be accessed at the click of a mouse at any time to boost their task fulfillment. Automation of routine tasks and extensive possibilities for social collaboration with team members and also external partners, be it suppliers or customers, complete the functional scope of Fusion PPM and therefore it becomes a key factor when striving for success in project work.

Functional Coverage of the Complete Project Life Cycle

The PPM Cloud Service covers the entire functional project life cycle from the compilation of the project portfolio to the project sales and operational controlling as well as post calculation. From a financial point of view cost estimation and budgeting, contract management and project billing for deliverables are supported. The service includes options for real-time collaboration in social networks. Sophisticated key performance indicator systems ensure transparency in project work.

Managing Project Costs

The module for cost management is a comprehensive solution that includes highly automated and standardized processes for efficient and effective management of legal costs to the creation of a project balance sheet. The core functions allow a standardized assessment of project costs across different applications. The import and the processing of the process costs are standardized. Intelligent processing steps support users when making decisions. The module can be integrated with other applications such as financial accounting or purchasing. Costs may be considered apart from cost accounting. The integration of Microsoft Excel allows easy capturing of project costs. It provides a standardized output control and a centralized definition of the cost of personnel and other resources. Therefore, the module reduces staff time for project administration considerably.

Managing Project Contracts

The Project Contracts module maps the entire contract lifecycle. This is done via templates to standardize the types of contracts. Using Project Contracts, all contract-relevant information can be saved, from the creation to termination of the contract. The information can be used flexibly in other modules and for project evaluations. Based on business rules, all contract-relevant activities can be automated: renewal and termination of contracts, customer contacts, activation and billing of project results. Here, the contract module works seamlessly with the other project modules and also with financial accounting using the corresponding interfaces.

Project Management The module for project management supports the project management over the entire project, from project initiation through planning, the actual project management to budgeting and profit forecast. In addition, it offers direct integration with Microsoft Project and Primavera P6. All functionalities are designed to speed up the user's work, such as mass maintenance of tasks and resource assignments, drag & drop support, or one-click-budgeting with templates for project plans. In addition, it allows a transparent project progress including budget monitoring and exception handling. The result is a simplified and faster processe and a higher quality for results.

Project Billing The Project Billing module works seamlessly with the contracts module in which the conditions for settlement are defined. To that extent, the billing can be automated as well to a high degree. The result is improved project governance, a reduction of processing times and costs as well as the avoidance of incorrect calculations and services that are invoiced incorrectly, too late or not at all. External and internal investment projects are billed and if necessary, pro-forma invoices are issued. Also often quite interesting for many applications: the possibility to create taxation forecasts.

Project Performance-Management

This module provides project-oriented organizations visibility into project performance. Multidimensional views provide the basis for flexible evaluations that provide the answers to critical business questions and allow to react in real-time or to take precautionary actions. There are reports and dashboards to track key performance indicators (KPI), enabling a detailed analysis of the budget and on-time delivery with respect to the use of resources. Historical analysis, benchmarking and trend studies complete the functional range.

Seamlessly Integrated and Automated: Continuous PPM Business Processes

The PPM Cloud Service has flexible interfaces to connect to external systems (financial or human resources systems, CRM, Supply Chain Management, etc.). In addition, the Project Integration Gateway can be connected via project management systems such as Primavera P6 or MS Project. Thus, users can perform their project tasks with the tool they feel most comfortable with. And the integrated project solution provides a "single source of project truth".

Business Process Excellence with Enterprise Cloud Services requires continuous business processes – also across company borders. It is necessary to integrate cloud services seamlessly into the business process to ensure functionally correct processing and data supply without media breaks. The PROMATIS Enterprise Cloud Services are equipped with Web service interfaces for this purpose. The result: openness for the integration in line with a service-oriented architecture.

Seamless Integration of Services and Applications

Especially in value-adding business processes, the business functionality lies not in a single cloud service, but extends across multiple services and enterprise applications. The quality and efficiency of the integration of the functionality components then becomes the decisive beneficial factor of the process.

Standard-based PROMATIS Process Integration Appliance

For the implementation of such business processes, PROMATIS recom-mends building a service-oriented architecture based on the Oracle SOA Suite. In addition to the Oracle Service Bus, the BPEL Process Manager is integrated with a powerful business rules engine and a variety of certi-fied integration adaptors. Business Activity Monitoring and BPEL monitor-ing functions complete the product range. The PROMATIS Process Integration Appliance based on industry standards guarantees high productivity, even with complex integration requirements. It combines the Oracle SOA Suite with PROMATIS Best Practice reference models and services.

Portfolio Management Cloud Services

PROMATIS Enterprise Cloud Services aim for a quick and effective improvement of the customer’s business process excellence. Thus, they combine powerful Enterprise Cloud Services (Software as a Service; SaaS) with approved Best Practice reference processes. PROMATIS provides the setup adjusted to the customer’s needs and a ready-to-use realization of the solution. The components of the solution are illustrated below:

Oracle ERP Cloud Services

Because of the professional requirements each customer solution is set up by PROMATIS experts. They determine, which of the Fusion PPM Services, that are provided via the Oracle ERP Cloud, are required. The services are purchased from PROMATIS on a subscription-basis (SaaS) with a 3-year contract period. The following service packages are offered:

Project Finance Management from € 190.- per User and month consisting of Fusion Project Financial Management and Fusion Transactional Business Intelligence for Projects

Project extension components from € 620.- per User and month consisting of Fusion Project Billing, Fusion Project Contracts, Fusion Project Performance Reporting, Fusion Project Control

Best Practice and Tools

PROMATIS sets up the Oracle Cloud Services based on approved Best Practice reference models. These models are provided by the easy-to-use Horus® Business Process tools via the Horus Repository. In order to access the reference models, we require a membership in the respective Horus Knowledge Community. The following products are part of the PROMATIS Enterprise Cloud Services:
