Introduksjon
This module is divided into two modules: Basic ski lessons 5 ECTS
Outdoor life in the mountains 10 ECTS

Basic ski lessons 5 ECTS
KNOWLEDGE:
o Be able to plan, implement and evaluate methodological training in skiing, cross country, telemark and alpine
o Be able to observe and evaluate ski motion techniques in order to to provide appropriate tasks in the disciplines mentioned above
SKILLS:
GENERAL COMPETENCE: o Preparing and waxing skis o Clothing and equipment
Outdoor life winter mountains 10 ECTS
KNOWLEDGE
o Possess basic knowledge about winter outdoor life
o Possess basic knowledge about simple, traditional Norwegian winter outdoor life
SKILLS:
o Be able to choose safe areas for outdoor life and know how to maintain secure outdoor life when going on a class trip with pupils
o Develop basic skills associated with winter life and instruction

BASIC SKI LESSONS:
Theory:
- Ski equipment
- "Skileik"- playing on skis
Practical activities:
- Ski play on flat ground and in hill
- Techniques associated with cross-country, classic and skating - Alpine and telemark
OUTDOOR LIFE IN THE MOUNTAINS:
Theory
The theory taught will be related to outings in the wild o The what, how and why of outdoor life, values and ideas o The public right to access in uncultivated land
- Orienteering, map, compass and GPS - Avalanche and rescue
- First aid
- Personal gear and group equipment
- Stay overnight in the wild, selection of and use of camp - Diet

Practical activities
Connected to making permanent camp in the mountain area
Within the boundaries of long time camping, there will be a focus on well-being and vigour
Make campground, prepare food, sleepover in one of the Norwegian Trekking Association¿s mountain cabins
Day trips with orientation, choice of safe routes and safe passage in the mountains, first aid tasks
Related to the longerexcursion: o Walking with full pack
o Safe passage / route choice outside the network of trails o Avalanche and rescue
o Dig and stay in the snow cave o Sleeping in a tent
o Sleeping in a cabin

BASIC SKILESSONS:
Emphasis will vary between lectures, group work and practical and methodological lessons. Ski lessons will be implemented over 8 days, organized as a course.
OUTDOOR LIFE WINTER MOUNTAINS:
Emphasis will vary between lectures, group work and practical and methodological lessons and excursions. Excursions are organized as a continuous stay in the mountains, lasting a total of 8 days. In addition, there will be an inspection of the area.
There will be a practical methodical program with students from a Folk High School. There will be arranged a practical avalanche course with a duration of 2 days.

Eksamen/vurdering
Students will prepare a report, working in groups of 3-4, on the adventures in the mountains, and make a lesson plan for three days for a school class. The task must include theory and lesson plans. Specific requirements for the assignment will be distributed at the start of the course.

Students need a pass degree on coursework requirements to receive the final grade in the course.
Students must have:
- attended compulsory tuition - handed in a note of reflection
Assessment
Demonstrate basic skills in skiing, cross country, telemark and alpine skiing.

Coursework requirements
Students need a pass degree on coursework requirements to receive the final grade in the course.
Students must have:
- attended compulsory education, acquired the necessary skills and participated actively * in work related to outdoor excursions in the winter
* Active participation means that the student;
- must be able to follow the group's progress in the mountains
- must be active in the planning, implementation and evaluation of excursions
- participate actively in the tasks each student will conduct the excursion. This includes tasks in relation to brief and lead the group in advance, make camp, snow caves, cook, fetch water, etc. ...
- to provide positive encouragement for the group
Assessment
The report "Winter Adventures of an elementary school class" graded as approved or not approved.
There will be one written individual home assignment with the grading scale used in Norwegian universities and university colleges.
