Brookfield Library Welcomes New Manager

Amanda Murphy has been named manager of the Brookfield branch of the Warren-Trumbull County Public Library.

Murphy, of Austintown, has been with the W-TCPL since 2005, first as a Branch Children’s Librarian, then Youth Services Assistant Manager, and Children’s Department Supervisor. Prior to joining the W-TCPL, she worked at the Massillon Public Library.

Murphy replaces former branch manager Deborah Mosora, who retired after 21 years with the W-TCPL.

In her new position, Murphy is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Brookfield Library, including circulation activities, supervisory duties, and collection maintenance.

Murphy earned her Master of Library and Information Science degree from Wayne State University (Detroit, Mich.) and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and history from West Liberty State College (W.Va.). She has served on many professional state and national committees, including the Association for Library Service to Children. She is an audiobook reviewer for a national publication and has served as a judge for the Audie Awards, which annually recognize distinction in audiobooks.

Library Names New Adult Services Manager

Alyse McMullen has been named manager of the Adult Services Department at the Warren-Trumbull County Public Library.

McMullen, of Warren, joined the Warren-Trumbull County Public Library in 2012 as a library specialist in the Circulation Department and was most recently Digital Resources Supervisor for four years.

McMullen earned a Master of Library and Information Science and a Bachelor of Arts in English from Kent State University.

In her new position, McMullen is responsible for planning and implementing services and programs for the Adult Services Department at the Warren Library; coordinating the selection of adult books, periodicals, and media; selecting online resources for the library system; and providing reference and reader guidance service to customers.

Temporarily Closed

The Local History & Genealogy Center located on the second floor of the Warren Library will temporarily close Nov. 1 for several months.

This closure is necessary so that work can be completed to the second floor of the Warren Library as part of the building expansion and renovation project at the library.

During the closure, Local History & Genealogy Center staff will be available to assist customers virtually with questions about their family history research.

Requests for information can be submitted through a Research Request Form found on the library website at www.WTCPL.org.

The library website also includes many digitized genealogy resources, including access to Ancestry: Library Edition.
