Happy Easter
Today sees the end of our Spring Term and what a term it has been! We have all been on such a massive journey but there is now light at the end of the tunnel. Once again, I would like to thank all of our children, families, friends, governors and staff for all of their support.
Some decisions that we have made have caused inconvenience, they may have been last minute and some have not been agreed by everyone but please be assured that every time we have put the safety and wellbeing of everyone involved to the forefront. We are so very proud of all of our children who have settled again and are producing an excellent standard of work. I am also very proud of our amazing staff who have had to adapt and learn many new skills and ways of working.
We have seen restrictions lifted somewhat this week however we remain vigilant in school and continue to do all that we can to avoid having to see any of our bubbles close.
Following the Easter break, we will continue with the protocols that are currently in place and will review them on a regular basis. This will undoubtedly have further impact on the summer term but the safety of our children, their families and our staff team will continue to be our priority. Thank you again for all of your help, support and kind words this term they are all really appreciated and are a great comfort on those tough days. I hope you all have a lovely Easter break and manage to spend some precious time with loved ones and make the most of the new freedoms in as safe a way as possible.
COVID tests
It remains important, over the Easter break, that if any of our children become unwell and need to take a COVID test, that we are informed asap. Primarily, this is so that we can ensure we offer any support possible but also because it may lead to the closure of one of our bubbles. Notifications of taking a test and its subsequent results should be sent to [email protected], this email address will be monitored through the break.
New classrooms
When we return to school on Monday 19th April our children in Oak, Beech and Holly will be learning in their new classrooms! During the holiday all furniture and equipment will be moved and staff will be in school to set rooms up to ensure that they are ready to receive the children. Also, during the holidays, the mobiles classrooms will be demolished and the playground and paths within our grounds will be resurfaced.

Changes to the Test and Trace support payment for parents
On the 22nd March, the Department for Education announced that parents and carers of children who have been advised to self-isolate by their education setting or by NHS Test and Trace are now able to apply for a Test and Trace Support Payment or discretionary payment of £500, if they meet the eligibility criteria.
The extension of the Test and Trace Support Payment scheme, which is administered by district and unitary councils in England, ensures that parents receive the financial support they need if they are unable to attend work due to childcare responsibilities.
Parents and carers should apply to their council to receive a payment. Nurseries, schools, colleges and further education providers are required to provide a letter to all parents or carers of the children advised to self-isolate, to support their application to the Test and Trace Support Payment scheme.
Read guidance on claiming financial support under the Test and Trace Support Payment scheme Revised letters for schools to use with positive cases as a result of LFD tests will be available to download from the Children's Services Portal shortly.
The letters will include the following text with regard to parents who are caring for self-isolating children.
Financial support if you have to take time off work to care for your child while they are selfisolating. If you are on a low income and you need to take time off work to care for your child while they are self-isolating, you may be eligible for financial support from your local authority through the Test and Trace Support Payment scheme.
The Test and Trace Support Payment scheme is open to people who live in England and who meet the following criteria:
• They are the parent or guardian of a child or young person in the same household and need to take time off work to care for them while they self-isolate; this is limited to one parent or guardian per household for the child or young person’s self-isolation period
• Are employed or self-employed
• Are unable to work from home while undertaking caring responsibilities and will lose income as a result
• They are currently receiving or are the partner of someone in the same household who is receiving at least one of the following benefits:
o Universal Credit o Working Tax Credit
o income-based Employment and Support Allowance o income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance
o Income Support o Housing Benefit o Pension Credit
• Their child or young person is:
o aged 15 or under (or 25 or under with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHC) and normally attends an education or childcare setting
o has been told to self-isolate by NHS Test and Trace or by their education or childcare setting because they have been identified as a close contact of someone who has tested positive for COVID-19.
Discretionary payments are also available for people on low incomes who are not on means-tested benefits but who may still face hardship as a result of the requirement to self-isolate. Your local authority may have additional eligibility criteria in place for discretionary payments.
If you are eligible, you will receive a £500 payment from your local authority in addition to any benefits and Statutory Sick Pay you receive currently. If you are unsure which local authority you should claim from, you can check on ‘Find your Local Council’ on GOV.UK: https://www.gov.uk/findlocal-council Your local authority will contact your child’s school to verify the information you provide about your child as part of the process of confirming whether you are eligible for a payment.
You can see the full eligibility criteria for the Test and Trace Support Payment scheme and find out how to apply at:
https://www.gov.uk/test-and-trace-support-payment
If you think you meet the eligibility criteria listed above and would like to apply to your local authority for a payment from the Test and Trace Support Payment scheme, you should provide this letter to your local authority to support your application. You will not be able to make an application for a payment from the Test and Trace Support Payment scheme without this letter.
