OH WHAT A YEAR IT WAS

- Nashville reached the Stanley Cup Final for the first time in franchise history last season, coming two wins away from claiming hockey’s ultimate prize. Before falling to the Pittsburgh Penguins in six games, the Predators swept Chicago in the first round and took out the St. Louis Blues and Anaheim Ducks in the Western Conference second round and final, respectively, to reach the Final. - The Predators sold out each of their 41 regular-season home games of the 2016-17 season, signifying the first time in franchise history the team sold out every regular-season contest at Bridgestone Arena. Including the Stanley Cup Playoffs, Bridgestone Arena has been sold out for 61 consecutive regular-season and postseason games.

- Peter Laviolette became the 25th head coach in NHL history – and second U.S.-born head coach – to win 500 NHL games … P.K. LEADERSHIP GROUP ASSEMBLED

- The Predators named defenseman Roman Josi as the eighth captain in franchise history at a press conference at Bridgestone Arena on Sept. 19.

- The Bern, Switzerland, native was a full-time assistant captain last season on a Predators team that reached the Stanley Cup Final for the first time in franchise history. He’ll sport the “C” on Nashville’s new uniform after Mike Fisher, who served as captain last season, retired in August.

- Additionally, defenseman Ryan Ellis was announced as associate captain and Mattias Ekholm, Ryan Johansen and Filip Forsberg as assistant captains.

- Defenseman P.K. Subban, forward Nick Bonino and goaltender Pekka Rinne are also members of the team’s leadership group.

NASHVILLE NEWCOMERS

- After spending the first six seasons of his NHL career in Nashville, forward Scott Hartnell returns to the Predators after signing a one-year, $1 million contract in the offseason. Hartnell, who was selected sixth overall in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft by the Predators, tallied 93 goals and 211 points in 436 games in Nashville from 2000-07.

- Nashville signed two-time Stanley Cup champion Nick Bonino to a four-year, $16.4 million contract in July. The 29-year-old forward scored 18 goals and added 19 assists for the Pittsburgh Penguins last season en route to his second consecutive Cup championship. - The Predators acquired defenseman Alexei Emelin from the Vegas Golden Knights in exchange for a third-round pick in the 2019 NHL Draft. The 31-year-old has appeared in 380 NHL games – all with the Montreal Canadiens – racking up 72 points.

JOHANSEN RE-SIGNED

- Ryan Johansen signed an eight-year, $64 million contact over the summer, ensuring the star center will stay in Nashville through the 2024-25 season.

- The 25-year-old co-led the Predators in scoring during the 2016-17 season, tallying 61 points while appearing in all 82 games. His 47 assists set a career high – eclipsing his previous high of 45 – and were the sixth most among all NHL centers.

- Johansen was an integral part of Nashville’s recent playoff run as he picked up 13 points in 14 games before a thigh injury in the Western Conference Final ended his season early.

SUMMER CONTRACTS INKED

- Viktor Arvidsson, who tied for the Nashville lead in goals (31) and points (61) last season, signed a seven-year, $29.75 million contract in the offseason. The Swedish forward added three goals and 13 points in 22 games during the Stanley Cup Playoffs while also leading the NHL in shorthanded goals (5) in the regular season.

- Forward Austin Watson signed a three-year, $3.3 million contract in the summer after setting career highs in goals (5), assists (7) and points (12) in 2016-17.

- Nashville re-signed forward Pontus Aberg to a two-year, $1.3 million contract.

- Frederick Gaudreau, who scored the first three goals of his NHL career in the Stanley Cup Final against the Penguins, signed a three-year contract with the Preds in the offseason.
