Update From The Lions Den

A Note from the President

With only a month to go until our U15 & U17 teams begin their grading games, the

excitement around this year is ramping up very quickly. This month will see all of our teams up and running with their preseason training, I would like to welcome back the younger age groups, as our U13-U18’s had already commenced training in February. A big welcome to our U8’s and U9’s, who will be competing in their first junior football season, it will be very exciting and challenging for both players and coaches.

2014 will also see the introduction of a new structure where U17’s takes the place of the U16 competition. I competition will now go from U15 to U17’s, which means players have another year to develop mentally & physically before heading off to senior football.

Round 1 is scheduled for the last weekend of April, I wish all our players the very best in their football development for this year, as the old saying goes, practice makes perfect, so make sure you always have a football in your hand.

Now that most teams have been selected, coaches will be seeking volunteers to assist them on game day, be sure to make their job easy by putting your hand up to help. Every team needs an Assistant Coach, a First Aid Trainer, and a Team Manager to enable the team to participate on game day, so get in early, particularly the First Aiders as there are accreditations that need to be arranged prior to the season starting.

I would like to congratulate the committee on getting everything in order for this season; so far there has not been too many hiccups. The club continues to grow in stature as the numbers have shown, with all age groups from U8’s to U18’s being completely full, apart from our U11 & U14 age groups where there are still spots available. Once again, good luck to all for 2014 at the Lions Den, hope to see you all back there in a months’ time.

Kind regards Bert Andrews – Present – Football Club

A new push for the club this season. $500.00 to sponsor a team.

Teams that are able to obtain a team sponsor will receive $240 of the sponsorship money to use towards a development activity for the players. This is a great opportunity for both our players and businesses looking for some extra exposure.

We welcome back again for the 2014 season, the ever popular Player Sponsorship.

Our player Sponsor Night will be held around mid season.

This is a great night for both the players and sponsors.

We are encouraging all players to start sourcing their player’s sponsorship for the 2014 season, whether it is the same as last year or a new sponsor is attained.

To ensure everyone understands, player sponsorship is when a business or person pays a sponsorship fee for a specific player for the season. This money puts the player in an apparel item and a portion goes back to the club to improve our facilities,

equipment, coach’s courses, player development etc.

All Business logos are then shown on the club web site & a presentation ceremony is held for the players & their sponsors.
