What’s Implementation Science?
How does it work?
Why SISEP in Washington?
Where & how do I learn more?
SISEP:
State Implementation & Scaling-up of
Evidence-based Practices
SISEP is a National Technical Assistance Center
Funded by the U.S. Department of Education’s Office of
Special Education Programs (OSEP)
SISEP assists States, School Districts and Schools in applying
implementation science through building sustainable
implementation infrastructures
SISEP’s goal is to support a system that effectively employs
evidence-based practices to improve student outcomes
EBPs
Students cannot benefit from interventions they do not
receive.

How SISEP Works
SISEP provides States and Districts with
: Intensive technical assistance to establish an effective & affordable infrastructure for implementation of evidence-based programs & practices (EBPs)
Coordinated and shared professional learning via webinars and communities of practice
Online and off-line coaching, teaching and learning about implementation, scaling, and system reinvention
Tools and resources for conducting this work, including formative and summative evaluation tools for action planning, monitoring and outcome assessment

Washington’s Goal
:
To build a statewide system that
deliberately and consistently implements effective K-12
education practices to improve student outcomes
* The system’s process is maintained even if the
members or initiatives change.
Initial Focus:
Early Literacy Initiative (K-4 ELA)
Inclusion of Students with Disabilities and IEPs
Inclusion of Buildings in School Turnaround

Role of Student Support
• Provide leadership and guidance in the construction
of a statewide system
• Scale-up a system to support delivery of high
quality and effective instruction and supports
• Improve the process of supporting districts, schools
and educators and students by implementing
effective practices that align with their changing
resources, strengths and needs
