Accessing
1. To open Skype for Business 2015 (Lync), go to: Start > All Programs > Microsoft Office 2013 and click once on Skype for Business 2015.
2. The first time you launch Skype for Business 2015 (Lync) on a computer, you may receive a First things first box. Choose use recommended settings and click accept.

Groups and Contacts Create Groups
1. To create a group, click once on the Add a Contact icon. On the drop-down menu, click once on Create a New Group.

3. To move, rename, or remove a group, right-click on the group name and click once on your choice.Add Contacts

2. As you type a name, users will appear below. Once the user appears you can stop typing.3. Right-click on the user and hover over Add to Contact List. Click once on a group name to add them to that group. If you have not created a group, or you do not have a group you want to use, choose Other Contacts.

Instant Messaging Sending Text
1. To create an instant message (IM) to a contact, double-click on a contact name. A message window (see below) will appear.
2. Type your message in the message area and hit enter.

3. You also have options on the bottom right-hand side of your message box:
Click the more options icon and choose Change Font… Next, choose your font style, size, emphasis, or color of your text.
Click the emoticon icon to choose from a selection of emoticons to add to your IM.

Sending File or Picture
1. To send a file or picture via instant message you can do this by:
Drag-and-drop the file or picture from your computer into the message window.

Sharing
1. Skype for Business 2015 (Lync) lets you share information from your computer. With a message window open with another user, click the monitor icon .
2. From here you have the following options:
Present Desktop – choose to share the contents of your desktop monitor (s). Choose from all monitors, primary monitor, or secondary monitor.

Present Programs – choose to share just a program you have open. Present PowerPoint Files – choose your PowerPoint file from a saved location. Add Attachments – choose to add a file(s) from a saved location as an attachment. Shared Notes/My Notes – choose to share OneNote notes from any notebook. More give you access to the following:
o Whiteboard – choose to get a blank space to share ideas.
o Poll – choose to gain quick feedback from users.
o Q&A – choose to allow users to post questions for you or others.
Note: Your Skype for Business 2015 (Lync) status will change to Presenting when sharing, and you will not receive instant messages during this time. Use the sharing toolbar at the top of the screen to stop sharing, or give control to participants.

Adding Participants to your IM
To add more than one participant to your group for sharing, click once on the Invite more People icon from the message window.
Once the Participants box appears, click Invite More People button.
The Send an IM box will appear, chose a contact from this list OR start typing the name of the person you would like to add to the conversation. As you type names will appear. Stop typing when you find the person you want to add. Double-click on the person’s name you want to add them. Repeat steps #3-4 until all participants are added to your conversation.

Video
Starting a Video Call
1. Open an instant message window to a participant(s). Next, hover over the video icon and click Start My Video.

3. You have several options once connected to a video call: a. To IM participants in the call click on the IM icon
b. To add participants, click on the invite more people icon
c. To view participants on the video call, click the participants icon d. To stop the video (keep audio), click the camera icon
e. To mute video, click the microphone icon f. To present content, click the present icon

2. If you have your IM screen open, the incoming call will show the following:

To answer the call, click anywhere in the picture area or click Accept the Video Call. Click Ignore to reject the call and send to voice mail.

Setup
It’s a good idea to set up and test your devices, to ensure best audio and video quality. Skype for Business 2015 (Lync) automatically detects the devices attached to your computer, but if you don’t see a device you want, use the
instructions that came with it to connect and install it first.
Set up your audio device
1. In the Skype for Business 2015 (Lync) main window hover over the Options icon, then tools, then choose Audio Device Settings.

3. Use the sliders to adjust the speakers, microphone and ringer.4. Click Check Call Quality to make a test call and hear how you sound. If you change your device, click OK on the window for the device to get set up, and then go back to check quality. If you don’t get a chance to check your audio devices before your meeting, you can still test them when you’re in a meeting or a call. Just pause on the phone/mic icon, and click the DEVICES tab to select your audio device, and adjust your speaker. When you join a meeting or make a Skype for Business 2015 (Lync) call, you can use the controls to mute, unmute, pause or transfer the call.

Set up your video device
Your computer may have a built-in camera or you may attach one, such as a Webcam or a Roundtable device. Skype for Business 2015 (Lync) automatically detects the cameras, and you can pick any of them that you prefer.
1. In the Skype for Business 2015 (Lync) main window hover over the Options icon, then tools, then choose Video Device Settings.

4. If Skype for Business 2015 (Lync) doesn’t detect a camera, or you don’t see your video, check to see if another program on your computer is using the camera. Also make sure the camera is connected and follow the instructions that came with the device to install it.
5. If you have a built-in camera, but you still don’t see your video, it might have been disabled on your computer.
